Indian food indeed is the master of the spices bar none. What amazing complexity and variety to all adventurous and exploring palettes. All food cultures are unique in their own way but once you come to like Indian food, not many will surpass it.

so, here's the thing y'all miss with dal: is it masoor dal (raw = salmon colored)? i think it is, and if so, this should be explained, because there is a light nutty ness about masoor that no other dal approaches. It turns yellow and fluffy, and you can use American stew spices with it very well... amazing species - deserves clarification

Wow! What an amazing video!! Loved your choice of dishes. Gobi Manchurian is every Indian's favourite street food.
I had so much to say about dal when the video started, luckily you guys tasted it and gave the amazing review it deserves.
Dal, rice, sambar, rasam, brinjal bharta, chapati, roti (there are many types of rotis- jawar, ragi, bajra and so on...), Pickles (there is N number of pickles, mango, lemon, chilly and so on...), Papad, and curd-rice are all regular staple food of India.
Sambar and rasam are best tried in the south (esp. Karnataka). Next time do give these Karnataka dishes a try- puliogare, chitranna (aka lemon rice), neer dosa (neer means water), Davangere benne dosa (benne means butter), bisi bele bath, and paddu.
As well as these Indian dishes-dal kichdi, Gobi 65, paneer Manchurian, Kaju masala, Mirchi, and pakodas.
I appreciate your love for Indian food. You both are beautiful people.
Love and regards from Karnataka, India ❤️💐
    Merry Christmas! Happy holidays! 🎄🦌🎅🏽

Idli chaat seems like a nice way to have rice in a spicy chutney. You could try vegetable pulao with mint chutney and curd. Yummy. Tamarind chutney is more for street food and samosas, bhel puri and Pani puri
