    Although these Water Boss High Efficiency water softeners rarely need service or repair, today I'm looking at how to replace the Piston or the Drive End Cap Assembly (DECA). This may become necessary if the piston jams inside the valve, check out trouble shooting.
    1) Remove the valve cover assembly and initiate a regeneration by holding down the regeneration button for 5 seconds, once you hear water running to drain, bypass and unplug the water softener. Unplug the Computer Control Assembly and remove it by sliding to the right.
    2) Remove the screws at each end of the DECA and disconnect the Brine Valve Assembly from the Safety Shut Off. Removing the Hex nut from the Safety Shut off inside the brine well will make it easier to remove from the Brine Valve Assembly. Be careful not to lose the O ring and Brine Piston.
    3) Slide out the DECA being careful to keep track of the two O rings at the piston end.
    4) If you're just replacing the piston, note that it's slotted into the piston slide. To remove it, rotate Piston 90° counter clockwise. To replace, rotate the piston 90° clockwise until you hear an audible “click.” Then reassemble.
    5) If you're replacing the whole DECA you will need to remove the Drive Motor, and Magnet Disk Assembly from the old DECA and install on the new one.
    6) Before reassembly, check the O rings, the smaller O-Ring should be placed on the male boss on the End Cap. When assembling the End Cap to the Valve Body, care should be taken to make sure the small O-Ring is aligned with the opening in the Valve Body and that the large O-Ring stays in the groove in the End Cap. If misaligned, the O-Rings can become pinched and leak.
    7) Slide the DECA into the valve body wiggling it slightly while sliding it in. Tighten screws.
    8) Reattach the Brine Valve Housing Assembly and connect to Safety Float.
    9) Secure the safety float, reattach and reconnect the Computer Control Assembly, plug into wall.
    10) Once the valve has found home you can slowly open the bypass valve and check for leaks.
    11) Regenerate water softener, again checking for leaks throughout the regeneration process.

    Huzzah! You helped me fix mine :D Also what a good company to provide schematic type instructions and easy user serviceability. So refreshing in the age of -screw u buy another one-.

    Great video. I just replaced the drive end assembly on my Proplus 380. When I put it back together, I have a leak coming from under the bypass valve likely from the water in or out that I can’t get to stop. Any advice on how to fix this?

    • @water_estore
      @water_estore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will need to take it back apart and see if one of the o rings is pinched.

    If the piston is stuck how do you get the wheel to turn to move to #1?

    • @water_estore
      @water_estore  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vince Polick great question. You just pull out the whole assembly. Sometimes you need to use a pry bar carefully but I’ve done lots of them and they have always come out eventually.

      Not that I know of, but check the manual and let me know what parts you are referring to cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0659/5447/files/Aquamaster_New_manual_2.pdf?v=1619526430

    We have an old WaterBoss 700, and the water flow is greatly reduced, so I think the resin needs to be replaced. BUT (a) is it possible to replace the resin in this water softener? and (b) is it worth the effort, compared to simply replacing the whole unit?

    • @water_estore

      Great questions. Nope, these do not allow the media to be repalced easily. I suiggest you replace it waterestore.ca/products/aquamaster-ams-700-high-efficiency-water-softener

    I have the water boss pro plus 380 with iron filter. I’ve just replaced shower cartridge and toilet fill valve as both were plugged up with a black sand media. Softening system has been in for few years and working fine until now. Any idea why media is entering water system?

    Hi Gary, like your vids. I removed the majority of the salt and threw in a gallon or so of hot water. I then put the unit in ‘regeneration mode’. Presently, there is a couple gallons of water in the reservoir. Should this water be sucked out of the salt reservoir during regeneration mode? Thanks for any help you can give.

    • @water_estore
      @water_estore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the brine gets sucked out part way through the cycle and then at the end adds water back in to absorb the salt to make brine for the next cycle.

    My drive end cap is leaking out of the right side end of the unit (to the right of that white gear) is this simply a failed o-ring or possibly mechanical damage inside?

    • @water_estore

      Usually you will need to replace the drive end cap assembly to fix waterestore.com/products/aquamaster-drive-end-cap-assembly-54520

    My waterboss keeps getting stuck in the 4th cycle , then goes into e1/ho code .I can see the disc trying to turn but it just clicks , I have to manually turn it. Any idea what cause could be ? Gears look fine and pulled piston out didn't notice anything obvious wrong with it.

      Yes, a common problem.. You need to repalce the drive end cap assembly with a new one waterestore.ca/products/aquamaster-drive-end-cap-assembly-54520

    Hey Gary, I have a water boss in my house and ran the water for like 20 min through the sink and shower. Now my there is little to no water coming out of the sink or shower. Everything is ran through the water boss and I’m not sure what is wrong with it? No error codes, it regenerated but still little to no water, any advice?

    For anyone wondering the water should go down in stage 2 and it should fill in stage 4. I was missing one of the O rings, on the left side of the pistion, and in stage 2 the water ended up filling up in the tank.

    My Aquamaster 900 valve assy appears to move ok. However, in addition to the motor noise. It makes a bicycle of a creaking or rubbing noise as it is reaching its commanded position. Is this normal?

    • @itsmeeee2154
      @itsmeeee2154 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Darn autocorrect, meant that it makes a bit of a creaking or something binding or catching noise as it is reaching its commanded position.

      I have seen some that have made this noise but I don't think it means that there is a problem necessarily

    My water boss proplus 380 is stuck in an E1 error. I've tried unplugging it and the gray wheel doesn't move, I can see the gears trying to rotate it but it just skips over the teeth. How can I release pressure to take it apart if I can't release pressure?

      Just bypass and proceed, no need to release the pressure.
