Harvesting Wild Pork in Beautiful New Zealand Wilderness with 2 Dogs & Knife

- Join my main hunting dog, Pace, and our new pup, John, and me as we embark on an exhilarating adventure deep in the backcountry of the South Island, New Zealand. Today, we’re on the hunt for a wild pig-a species introduced to these shores that has no natural predators. This makes our pursuit not only a thrilling food-gathering exercise but also crucial for preserving our native biodiversity.
I will be dispatching the pig and field-dressing it with just a small Baco knife as shooting the pig can result in giving the dog muzzle blast or even causing it injury only carrying a rifle for backup. Our goal is to harvest every bit of organic meat, leaving behind only the spine, skin, and head. This intense journey will span 14 hours, covering 16.8 km of untamed wilderness from the moment we leave the truck until we return.
Feel the adrenaline rush as we navigate rugged terrains, relying on the keen senses of Pace and the growing instincts of John. Experience the raw beauty of New Zealand’s wild landscapes and the primal excitement of the hunt. This isn’t just a hunt; it’s a mission to protect our environment and a testament to the bond between hunter and hound. Don’t miss out on this epic backcountry adventure!
This video was taken down by TH-cam for 12 hours. I lost the appeal but then after doing their community guidelines training program I was allowed to re-appeal. Thankfully I won the second appeal they have reinstated the video and removed my warning based on this being an educational video. They have re monetized it. Thank you for all your hearty comments.
Nice to see it back
That's good to hear mate what a shit show though the TH-cam censorship is getting out of control
TH-cam is run by soy eating weirdos lucky it was monetized. Keep posting mate from oz
I bet it was some animal rights freak that complained
na, it was just their A.I picking it up and then some human at YT decided it was outside of their community guidelines. As it turned out I had deleted all the blood, killing, and guts and kept this one within their snowflake guidelines.
Good to see your well there mate! Been a while for us TH-cam fans 👍🏼
Welcome back

Just another solid adventure. Thankyou risking to bring us excitement & joy.🙏🤜👊🤛👌
Hei! Thanks for your new vid. How long does it take you to strip the pig normally? Best regards from Norway!

Awesome mate love to go out for a pig hunt with you or take you wallaby hunting
Enjoyed watching your wild boar hunt. Also liked seeing the field dressing and processing. Thank you
Good to see you back Clay !!!! Nice pig !!!!
Great hunt and beautiful bush. I have to visit NZ one day soon.
Awesome video mate. Looks up Nelson way?
Sure is mate
By "harvesting", do you mean "cruelly butchering to death"?
Fascinating cognitive dissonance with your dog.
Yeah clay. Nice Job on the hunt and the field processing of that nice pig. Waidmannsheil 🐗🌿
I've been hunting hog for 55 years...but I don't have the courage to kill with a knife...salute
For real the things you find in the bush, I have found a gas can with what I suspected old weathered petrol, and I have found a old Ford like a Oldsmobile like back in the days where a single door weights about 80kg, and me and the bro found a quad bike with the key in it tucked away like hidden, we did talk about taking it won't lie, few months later it's still there few years later it's still there and I'm willing to be to this day Its still there
Best channel on youtube👍
nice stuff Clay, I miss the South Island.
Whilst those cheap knives are cheap, a good custom knife carries the memories of the hunt with you, yell out if you need one mate.
Great to hear from you Shelley. Its good to hear you are still making knives. Anything superlight is always a blessing to hunt with and thats why I carry the baco. Thats a kind offer. You have made a couple of knives for me in the past. I still have a utility knife and a cool orange neck knife for my daughter Dayla.
Awesome video, never hunted, just tramped. Cool to see the effort involved.
Good doggos too
"A Horse took me guns bruu, now gotta use a knife"
Absolutely love your page, and it's awesome to see another hunt. Much respect clay
where can i find the knifes that you use
Farmlands NZ
Great video!
Full of valuable information!
Love, Health and positive thoughts for you and your Family!
Your dog and your knife. Making life-long memories and dinner
One of your best mate, very enjoyable to watch
What a classic hunt and video. Pure magic.
Yay ur back I was just thinking I hadn’t seen anything for a while I look forward to watching it later, cheers
Great video Clay, learning lots of new zealand slang here in Canada
shoutout to Monty he is watching this video while in hiding in prague for some shady tax dealings..love ya stuff clay good too see ya
Really?
About bloody time!!! Had to wait 3 months.
'Alright boy's he's back on get the BBQ ready'
Always worth the wait to get great 👍 videos thank you mate.....
Any chance on a link for where to buy one of those knives?
Keep up the good work 👍
Any of the Farmland CRT stores in NZ. I just bought some more and they have doubled in price. Now $20 NZ. still good value in my books.
Great to see an old timer still well honed in the craft. Where I'm from hunting has been banned for years I'm probably the last generation to still do it.
You just reminded me my decade old days. I was simply lost on the video.
Great work Sir. Hope to see more.
Does public land mean it belongs to the state, and the other areas to the Maori people? Every time i see something about New Zealand, it looks totaly different like the last time.
Good question. Public means everyone can go on it. Māori land means you can hunt on it with an invitation from that Iwi who owns it or if it is your own iwi's land. Iwi means tribe.
Another awesome one!
Thanks Clay!
Nice video mate.stay safe outer
I truly appreciate you my brother. You put in hard work with those awesome pups. Nothing can measure up to that beautiful landscape you constantly blessings us with. Trust me, I'm enjoying it with you. Continue posting, and I'll continue watching. Many Blessings.
thanks mate
this was a nice video, especially the time for reflection , agood catch, clean river nice place, your best mate, and sourdough bread .
This really inspires me to try to these thing atleast once in my life, thanks clay!
You can do it!
Wow you dog is very smart
Thankyou so much frm the occasional sister!
I’ve always wanted to know how to carve up a beast.
My young sons and I will most certainly appreciate this explanation and commentary.
Wholesome harvesting
You are so welcome!
I promise not to be a C🌈🌈🌈🤣
Mate, so good to see you back on the channel, it's like seeing a long lost brother again after all this time, I just wish you tube wasn't such an arsehole to your genuine, non woke insane content.
There's literally 3 you tubers I follow, as the rest I find are fake as hell, and too political and woke.
Your content is true, raw and meaningful, I can also see you benefit from it too, especially with the dogs working.
I'm glad you did what's right for you, and if your not back again for a while, no dramas at all it's worth the wait.
I'm sure your garden kitchen is screaming for some use💪
Take care mate🍺 slainté
Next time you see me mate we will have finished my log cabin. Cheers
❤
Been a while. good to see you're still making youtube videos. I always enjoy. Watching it. hope to see more.
really enjoyed watching this. good going mate
great to see you back!
Great to see yous all again …. Wouldn’t mind seeing more of you your dogs and the farm
Wouldn't it be easier to just bring some medical gloves, water is usually scarce.
Perfect point and I am happy you raised it. I have already bought some for my next hunt in the backcountry.
Bloody good bastard clay good to see you mate I miss all the vlogs from this channel I follow bro check club tho to get my clay fix
yep I am still posting on the Bro Check Channel. Mostly just lazy yarns lol, cheers mate
Hope your foots better mate
How would you feel about taking some of us out with you sometime? Bit of pressure I know but I’m sure there’s some of the bros watching here that NEED a day like that but can’t make it happen.. I’d personally love to trudge some hills with you
good to see you back. Mate.
Great film . Thanks
Thank you for your positive vibes, keep up that energy. Great video.
I appreciate that!
where you been mate, good to see ya still kicking, cheers
Yep...still got a pulse.
Well done mate, we've got great outdoors here and plenty to hunt/fish. I'm 74 now and recently had heart surgery so not as active as I used to be; your video made me realise what I am missing.
I had end-stage heart disease two years ago. I made some serious lifestyle changes and have my health back. I can relate. I had crippling angina and needed a stent. I halted all that and have reversed it with diet, rest, exercise, sleep, and pain management. Diet has been the biggest. Good luck mate.
@@ClayTallStories Thanks for your words of support - much appreciated. I had a quadruple by-pass and all was going well until I decided that I was "better" and started doing more serious exercising - walking my dog at a fast rate around 12 km a day etc. But that only got me heart failure and my heart apparently expanded to almost twice its normal size. I'm taking it a bit quieter now, resting more but I have always had a very healthy diet and was physically fit. I'm hitting natural supplements to support the heart. I hope to get back out in the hills - been hunting since I was 9.
I've just finished re-reading Warwick Broadhurst's book of pig hunting stories from the South Island, including the tale of the Cora Lyn Ripper. Your video fitted in very nicely with Warwick's hunting ethos. Well done, sir!
Wow, People have become so apart from their food sources,City folks,Jez!
@claytallstories You are among one of the best hunters + butchers in NewZealand, Bravo 👍🏻
How do you train a pup without a main hunted most my life and lost my dogs a few years back and haven’t hunted since
Great video, great skill, great wisdom Clay loved it. I am definitely making that sandwich next time I am out in the hills.
Good shit mate! Bloody awesome video good to see you still out enjoying it and your dogs love it too
Cheers mate
these are some good boys!
great vid
odważny piesek nie odpuszczał do końca xD
Yep. He is a fighter. Cheers
Interesting mate.
Thank You Sir 😊
Good to see you back clay been missing your videos and inspiring information on living off the land would love to catch up with you in the near future mate
Exemplary content, bit of a shame that TH-cam tries to prohibit real coverage of life and nature, but it’s really all the more reason to support Clay directly and get access to that. Cheers
yeah a real shame. It has become impossible to show the full hunt. Even this heavily edited Disney version got age-restricted and de-monetized.
What a epic hunt Matua clay long walk in well worth it mate ..your an inspiration too all hunters out there young and old ..good boi pace little Tuffy he is had too work for that pig ...good too see your chanel again cheers🤙🏽
Keep the video coming. Watching from the Middle East. Cheer!

Happy days mate awesome to see you in the bush again, so true to what you were saying about the simple pleasures,.
I'm all about that, after winter I'm planning on selling me car and everything I have of value and walking around New Zealand as a personal challenge to myself.
And because it'll be a hell off an adventure bro.
Have a blessed week ahead.
Hope the foots all good that's hardcore been bitten by a pig it bloody hurts aye😂.
Stay blessed.
Good to hear from you bro. I hope you are travelling well. Good luck with your personal challenge.
