I'm a Holden man but I have to say ford didn't just drop the ball by discontinuing the barra they literally handed the bloody ball to the opposition and said "kick the rest of the goals we can't be bothered anymore".. the greatest 6 cylinder Australia ever built, both N/A and turbo, and if ford wanted to use them in American cars and pickups as well as European cars they would've sold in the millions I reckon.. what a shame
Has to be the best straight six ever built, these engines started back in the first falcon in australia, over 50 years ago

The bump stops on the drivers side worked real hard on this car
Of course its faster than the FPV F6, it was made years after, so its expected to be more technologically developed. Just like the Typhoon was a test dummy for the FG turbo. I wish Ford Australia didn't stop production. Their turbos were and still are a tough competitor for the Holden muscle cars (even though most are just American now).

Can’t believe these were only $60k new. Would’ve like to have seen some wider rear wheels at least. Future classic like the ED XR8 Sprint.

my f6 now does 11.6 down 1/4 mile I've done full dump pipe and exhaust 4 inch all the way through bigger intercooler and tuned on the dyno

Water still coming out of the exhaust.....engine still needed to be warmed up before doing all those revs?

One thing that these need, and haven't listened to all of the video as I am typing, but these need steering paddle shifters.

They're both great to drive. In stock form the XR8 was quicker
The front and rear lights ard similar to the U.S. Fusion which can be purchased in a 4 wheel drive. The Taurus has a different light cluster but no V8, has a V6 twin turbos. The Police seem to be getting the Taurus vehicles which has stiffer suspension and 4 wheel drive. Ford U.S specifically build Police Vehicles with all the equipment required for day to day running. Can't understand why Ford doesn't export this vehicle to Australia. The Police specific vehicle would be a good choice for them, fuel economy, performance and an amazing emergency lighting system and dual multi function siren. I would buy a Taurus SHO, selling in the U.S for kust under $45,000. Australia needs a family size large sedan.
V6 is rubbish compared to an i6. Balance, harmonics, i6 for the win. The i6 Barra is super strong and easily tuned. The factory barra block and head can make more than 2000hp 6.8 sec race car factory block and head th-cam.com/video/r8v0toOrYp0/w-d-xo.html
We dont want a junky v6. Modifying a v motor is much more expensive. v = 2 cats, 2 exhausts, 2 turbos, 2 expensive.
Aussie buyers have decided they don't need a large sedan. Which is why both Ford and Holden stopped making them. Holden is importing a largish sedan, nobody is buying.

Why and suv ? look into the psychology of chicks buying large suvs, the large suv is a substitute for being accompanied buy a large strong man, and chicks want to show of to other chicks "look how hot I am, I have a large strong man / suv"

I think it's because the sprint 6 has different boost levels for each gear, and for some reason that was a PITA to tune for a manual.. I may be wrong but I read something like that a while back.
I own a territory turbo. I love it. But when I drove a V8. It ruined me. The sound. The instant grunt I like.
So it's the XR8 for me. But it's not very pretty looking.
Jimmy Valentine Absolutely true mate. In fact it’s Ford’s 2nd quickest car from 0-100 KM/H. GT-F is first but only by 0.04 seconds. Then there the drag times which is when the XR6 Sprint crawls back. These things have done 12.4s with evidence to back it up. Best time for a GT-F was 12.6 with evidence to back it up so the XR6 Sprint is technically Ford Australia’s best production car. The prices of the XR6 Sprints have gone up whilst the GT-Fs have gone down a little.

I saw both sprints at Powerford. Both waiting to be picked up. They actually look better in the flesh. The XR8 was black & the 6 was this colour. But given interior is nearly same I'll keep my F6 😝
6 years late to reply, but it's ridiculous how lazy ford is with the falcon's interior. The only bad thing about the falcons is the completely outdated and identical interiors. 2017 fgx xr6 sprint falcon's interior are basically the same as a 2008 fg xr6
Aussies are never happy. 20 years ago 165kws was what you got...now it's double that and still it's not good enough or somethings better. Seriously it's bloody pathetic! spoilt for choice, who killed falcons and Commodores? YOU.

Free trade agreements with Thailand and all those other cheap countries which can pay their workers $3.50 an hour instead of Australians which would be around the $25 dollar an hour depending on age, company, shift times, benefits and so on. Thanks John Howard.

Just bought one and I can tell you they kick arse
fg xr7t, fg g6et and fg f6 are the way to go. Fgx sprint has the same motor as the fg xr6t and g6et just stogner pistons and rods, other wise bottom end is the same. I'll always wonder why they didn't use the f6 motor.
no they didn't I've read about 5 Magz stating they used the Fg xr6t motor with stronger piston.

Spend some chump change
Get a better air intake / filter, injectors, high flow cat & tune it.. you will easily crack into the high 11's - everything else stock.
Get some good Michelin tyres and you will see the difference.

My stock fg xr6 turbo 12.9 at 173 kms
+wrxlauncher it was at the drags few weeks ago, only had standard tyres on & track was bit slippery.
+GTR RACING and was at heathcote. worst strip ever
The quickest stock XR6 Sprint time that has the evidence to back it was 12.4. Absolute weapon these things from out of the box.

IT's a shame, but to be honest the auto doesn't leave much behind compared to the manual.
I love my manual’s but the Zf gearbox is very good

bikelife 2147 ive got a BF xr6 turbo.. all that it would need would be turbo back exhaust.. bigger injectors.. fuel pump and intercooler and it would stick with it.
