Exploring this historic mansion located in downtown London, Ontario called "The Eldon House" which is considered the oldest continued residence in the city. It was built in 1834 with Regency and Georgian style architecture for Captain John and Amelia Harris, and was occupied by four generations of the Harris family from 1834 until 1960 when the last family member, Milly Harris, to live in the house passed away. The children then donated the Eldon House to The City of London at this time who now maintain it and turned part of the 11-acre property, which goes down to the river, into Harris Park. It still has the original heirlooms and furniture inside from the family and is virtually unchanged since the 19th Century.
The beginning: Captain John Harris was a Master in the Royal Navy on Merchant Marine Ships. He was sent to Canada for the War of 1812 where he met Amelia Ryerse in Port Ryerse, Ontario who was from a rich prominent family. John and Amelia married in 1815 and they raised 10 children in this house which is also known for his paranormal activity by visitors, workers and the staff.
The house was named after Lord Eldon, a Chancellor of England during the early 19th century whom John Harris admired, so he named the house after him in his honor. He, like John, was a self-made man with humble beginnings who having worked hard, rose to success.
Haven't been here in a long time. Thank you for refreshing my memory of what its interior looks like!
Outstanding home, lots of history there, thanks for the video
Thanks for coming along.
Good morning and thanks again for this morning coffee tour. This home is absolutely beautiful, love the woodwork and history of it. Another well done video, thank you.😊
Good morning! Glad you enjoyed it!
Very interesting beautiful home. Inside was full of antiques. I'd hate to dust all the stuff inside.
Wow that was super cool. This house is gorgeous. I'd definitely be down for more historical episodes like this. We have a lot of history here
I’m glad to hear you enjoy the history videos.
I thought you had a London connection, based on some of your abandoned building videos. I took my family to see this house during Doors Open, a few years ago.
Stunning place . Love the ceilings, chandelier and the old school kitchen , stove . Just beautiful 😍.
Beautiful home and grounds lots of great history here love the narration good to see it preserved thanks for the tour .

Hi Tikitrex! Just want you to know that you are the 1st urban explorer I've watched here on TH-cam since 2015! Keep it up! From Manila, Philippines! 🇵🇭
Wow! Thank you! 😊 I really appreciate your longtime viewership and happy you are sticking around for more!
Very nice! I love to see these saved buildings. So many in my town have been turned into multi small apartments and just ruined. Thanks Pam!
I agree. Thank you!
Love places like this! Thank you for showing us around!

@@TikiTrex I has always enjoyed your videos.
Beautiful home.
Amazing house! I love the kitchen the most- and the furniture :) Hello, from Manchester (UK)
Hello!
What a gorgeous home. The City have done it proud for visitors to see. Thank you 😊
Lovely.
A great video! I have always loved touring historic homes. So many over time have been lost. They were built in an era that will never come again. That's when a mansion looked like a mansion! A lot of new mansions are...blah! A few of my favorites in my area are the Seiberling house in Akron, the Victorian House in Millersburg, and the Reeves Mansion in Dover. I like these video where you visit historic sights as much as your abandoned house videos. And these are a lot safer for you!
Your comment means a lot! Thank you.
What a beautiful home!
Awesome video!!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks for visiting!

My pleasure!
I just recently learned about mourning beds and how they would display the deceased in the parlor before there were funeral homes.
Beautiful home with no sketchy stairs to worry sbout.😂 Keep up the great work. BTW I didn't skip ahead.
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Hi Triki ! It’s New Years Eve Day, just popped in to say “ Happy New Year” to you and your Family ! ❤️🙏🏻💥🎆🎉🎊
Happy new year!!
Awesome video 👍☺️
Hey it’s my family’s original homestead my great great uncle John . I think he was my grandfather s cousin. Good research Pam
Haha! I thought you had some ancestors from here! Thanks, Gerry!
Very cool
Wow! That place covers some acreage...and then there's the grounds😅. I wonder if they used some gear from Zamboni when it came time to clean house. And if they did, was it ride on or walk behind? Just teasing🙂. Maybe this place won't be abandoned any time soon. Thanks a bunch for the tour, Lovely Lady. You sis some great research and editing on this one...as usual. You
are appreciated.
You’re the best! Thanks for your kind words, always!
Kinda sad the family gave the house away, very art deco!
We have a similar house here in Portland Oregon called the Pittock mansion.
It must have been nice to live in that house.
Hi, I was watching Jumbo on Saturday then it disappeared, what happened ? It was a good video.
I’m glad you liked it. It wasn’t getting any traction and then I got a hater being sarcastic so I removed it. I’ll repost it. Thank you for your interest in it!
What is that weird bed at the 3:40 mark?
They were setting up for a Halloween event, so I believe it was a coffin lol
The most underwhelming places I've ever visited, and that was 50 years ago as a student. Still underwhelming.
Our old farmhouse was more interesting....
Thank you Tiki, I love old homes. Kind of reminds me of my maternal grandparents home in Philadelphia. It was a big 3 story house and the first time in it my brother and I went wild exploring it. There were two sets of stairs going to the 2nd and 3rd floors. It was very dark and spooky, neat, we loved it. 😊 Three of my grandparents came from Manchester, England. I just loved my paternal grand moms cockney accent. I use to sit there and say "just talk Grandma!"
Thanks for sharing your story! Sounds like a fun house to explore!
