LOL, watched this yesterday, went to a local DG store here this morning in the Jacksonville area and saw coffee cups for sale with this exact type of design on them. If it wasn't you, then somebody took this idea and ran with it. What synchronicity with the timing, lol.
Wow, just wow 😮 Not only am I learning Inkscape does more than my usually “remove background” “trick”, you are super inspiring. Thanks for sharing your Inkscape Magic!
Exactly the tutorial I was looking for. I am getting into cnc plasma cutting and Inkscape is one of the primary tools available to create patterns. I have been looking for a forest silhouette on the share sites that I could use to design a sign I want to cut. Rather than find somebody else's creation that didn't quite match what I wanted, I was able to make my own. Thank you for putting this out there.
Pine trees are my favorite watching you do it in Inkscape was a treat .Your detailed technique to create branches and using spray tool was great. Thanks again for such great tutorials. I would suggest you to post your links in Official Inkscape group on Facebook. People will love these. my suggestion for next tutorial: Underwater scene, Corals, Great barrier reef.
Undersea. Very cool. I'll start playing around with some ideas. And thank you for the Facebook group suggestion. I just joined. May lurk for a while to get a feel for the vibe before I post anything there.
Loved ur channel.....+ Can make a tutorial on vector portrait....cuz a lot of people only draw the stuff....nobody teaches ....so...pls...make one...,💜💜
Hello can I use this tutorial and sell my finished designs on Etsy. Do you mind if I do this. It will not be the same as yours but using information you gave thanks
When making my 1st branch- when I go to path/difference it keeps the wrong half. I have tried putting the grey on top of the green, selecting things in a different order, doesn't seem to matter it is just keeping the grey. Do you know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks for this wonderful tutorial, i followed and drew step by step and it came out beautifully. Thanks for such detail oriented video, you have been so patiently, taken us through all the steps, kudos to you. I however got stuck on the last step, where following you, i selected an appropriate square from the scene, went to object then clip and set but nothing happened. I tried many times but all deselected trees also stayed. I gave up and then saved the PNG , then entire inkscape file got exported in PNG. Do tell me what did i do wrong? :(
Thanks, and let's see if we can solve this! Once you have the whole forest scene the way you like it, everything has to be grouped together into one selection. This includes the watercolor fog which sometimes spreads way beyond the scene. Try zooming out a great distance and the selecting from blank space far from the project. Once everything is grouped together, create your clipping box and make sure it has a fill. Both the box and the grouped scene need to be selected before Object- Clip- Set can be done. Does this help? Thanks again.
Good question! I'm set to the default menus and icons on the latest version of Inkscape. Dark mode. I uploaded a QuickStart video a few days ago that shows the exact settings from the welcome screen.
Another great and simple to follow tutorial. I'm not sure if you have any animation experience, but it would be cool to see a tutorial on how to make a simple moving background/screensaver like at treksit.com/ If not, just recreating that black hole effect would be cool to see. Thanks!
Thanks! I just checked out that site, and that moving background looks pretty cool. I've never done animation, but I'll play around with this concept. Thanks again.

No way! What timing! I wish it was mine. Maybe the tutorial inspired someone to sell their work- which is cool.

Thanks for asking, and sure! I hope my tutorials help people create their own works for fun or commerce. Good luck!
How do you make this into a seamless pattern for a background or border?
At 12:17, when set clip to the image, there is a narrow shadow on the right side of rectangle. How is it possible? Is there additional step for it?
hi man i have a question about the page ur making anything on,like you use A4 can i use any others?
Great question. You can use any template size you like. I usually start with A4 so if anybody is following along, we're all working on the same scale.

Happy Little Trees -Bob Ross
Haha! I bet Bob Ross would love Inkscape.
