The attention to detail in this game is absolutely astonishing. 1. She doesn’t just walk into stage and start playing. The bar continues speaking, drinking and moving. She tunes her lute, plays a few notes to ensure it sounds proper and then plays the opening to the song. 2. When she plays, the reactions are realistic. She doesn’t sit still. She fidgets even while playing. You’ll even notice little quarter beat hiccups between some lines. Some may say that’s simply a small barely noticeable but but I say it’s a musician who is skilled but made a mistake while playing. A perfectly natural thing to do. 3. The patrons display a wide array of emotions, each one perfect for conveying the song and the many emotions it can make you feel. Wanting (the woman with the wine) love (the smooching couple) and even the polar opposites of bliss and sorrow (as seen by our favorite dwarf and the bartender respectively) even the man outside is like a first time listener. Purely curious about the beautiful tune beyond the glass. This game has surprised me more than any other
This part of the game caught me so off guard when I reached this point. I've NEVER enjoyed a song piece in game, film of tv show as much as I did here. This was absoLUTEly incredible, and makes me love the game even more than I already do.
Geralt never flinches about anything throughout the game but when she mentions the wish, you can see how deep it affects him, if you read the books it also bring memories... That change o posture when his wish is mentioned makes this scene one of my favorites in the game.
People hate the dating quest with yen, saying it was rushed and made little sense... but what Priscilla sings about the wish tells us it was all planned, not rushed, because Yen was also thinking it
I suffered my first panic attack during this part of the game. My wife had recently left me and my life was a pathetic down spiral I felt no control of. There was something about the part when she says “you’ll flee my dream come the morning.” That haunted me to my very soul. BecuSe that at the time was my reality. The only time I got to see my family was in my dream. And I hated waking
I love the way Zoltan prods Geralt at the end as if to say, "It's a song about you, you boorish tit! The least you could do is give the lassie a round of applause. ".
I really resonate with Yennefer’s character and always choose her in the end. I see her as a woman who was trapped by a wish a basic stranger had made to be with him for her entire life. I can see why she lashed out at him even though he was trying to protect her. Even still, she loves and adores Geralt and Ciri. She’s a mamma bear, who will do anything to ensure her daughter’s safety. This song represents Geralt and Yennefer’s love so brilliantly. I remember when I first saw this I teared up, and my boyfriend danced with me in the living room as the song continued. It’s beautiful, really. It’s one of my favorite moments in any game I’ve ever played. I will never forget this song or scene.
It's called texture popping. His beard didn't grow, it just wasn't fully rendered yet. You can see he has the same beard in the beginning of the scene.
+veda janitra Your sarcasm is just hilarious. Obviously I thought you were being literal otherwise I wouldn't have written that. Guess you're just not that good at making jokes xD
Not only is this song GORGEOUS, but I love the direction of this cutscene as all the listeners are interacting with the song in their own way. SO many stories being subtly touched upon as they all process how the song moves them.
This is the moment when I realized this wasn't just a video game. This was a legitimate piece of art that gave me so many emotions. I have loved this universe ever since this very moment.
+TheDeathToday Eh, I agree with Lambert in the drunk Scene. Yen may love Geralt, but she uses his love for her to get her own way. I'd get sick of that after the years they've been together. And besides, who can blame someone for preferring Triss, she's amazing and her voice is much less grating.
+Sagittarius She ratted Geralt and Yen out to the Wild Hunt in the books , the Triss you know was always in love with Geralt and was jealous of his relationship with Yen , when she found out that he has amnesia she took advantage of him .
Hmm maybe not exactly. Yen is a strong woman, who acknowledges Geralts strengths as well, which is why she knows only he is able to help her. Yen and Geralt had been put under a binding spell which tied their fates by A Djinn. If you play the quest "the last wish" that is also the title of the first book in the witcher series, you'll understand more. :)) Great opinion though I'm always iffy about Yen but ohhh you'll know...you'll know the love. It's so deep. Deeper than just them both.
@Jama Kery I can totally agree with this. I lost any and all interest in pursuing any sort of story with Yen after what she did do skjalds' ghost. that was outright torture, and she ruined a holy place to do it with no consideration for anyone but her own ego
This song is a work of art. The woman singing just wraps me up. I cry. She sings the song with such beauty yet it has this sub layer of heartbreak and pain. Its divine. Truly. Shes telling us a story we well know and she tells it in a way we all understand.
When I heard this song during my first play-through, its significance was lost on me. But when I heard this song again on my second play-through, I realized what the song was about. This game is so damn beautiful, it gives you goosebumps.
Rejecting Triss was so hard, they made her incredibly beautiful in every aspect (how not to fall for her?). This song however remind me that Geralt and Jennefer are bound by destiny.
This song transports me to novigrad and that first sense of wonder. It makes me remember the amazing books. It makes me remember the whole quests with jaskier, yennefer and ciri. The immersion this game brings it's like living a whole other life. It's truly beautiful
Can you imagine yourself back to the days, when a bard dazzeled you with a completely new tune of music? A new way to project compassion and emotion, it must've been amazing to be a talented bard or scrybe back in the day.
My wife was playing Sims on her laptop during this. My exact words were: “My lady, PLEASE…….Stop what you are doing, pause the game, remove distractions, and watch this.”
I played Witcher 3 as a dumb kid that doesn't understand many things and know nothing about The Witcher. But this cutscene brings so much impact to me I forgot that I was playing a game and this song echoes in my head even if I don't remember where it comes from. after going through the universe with books and previous game as an adult, it hit me how deep this song hit me and I truly regret I didn't catch most of the things in this game back then :( it's just beautiful
This is one of those moments in video games that sneak up on you. You're out there slaying monsters, completing side quests and contracts, then out of the blue you stumble into this scene and you just sit there and soak it all in. Easily one of those moments you wish you could experience for the first time over again. It's such a short scene, but it hits hard.
This scene was unexpected to me. I was like, yay another thing I can go to and advance Ciri's story. And as soon as I heard the first words I was like "Damn this is really really good." This is why (in my opinion) The Witcher 3 is THE best game ever.
agreed. Definitely elevated the game for me. Such a beautiful, intimate, and immersive moment. Only problem was the weird audio cut outs that happened in between verses
There was a fanfiction written two years ago called "The Divine Hunter", had a moment where Priscilla did this song in the story. Always a good son no matter where you find it.
Not me. Never read any of the books and got immediately turned off to yen in the game when she gets pissed off that geralt was with triss in the second game. Then she's like "so that's your excuse?" When geralt brings up the fact he had amnesia. That's a pretty damn good excuse considering he didn't even know who she fucking was until he got his memory back.
I was shocked at how gorgeous this song was! Never seen a developer have a cut scene with a full length, beautifully written song. That was beautiful! This game continues to impress me
So, when I first heard this song, it held little meaning for me. This was my first introduction to the world of the Witcher, everything i knew about the world had come from what I had played up until this point. And since I was doing the Novigrad quests before Skellige, I had no idea how intricate Geralt and Yennefer's past was, and had no idea this song was about Geralt and Yen. I basically thought, "beautiful song, but I'm honestly itching to continue this game." And proceeded to not think much about it later. Coming back to this after playing Yen's questline in Skellige, this song holds much more meaning now.
"I know not if fate would have us live as one , or if by love's blind chance we've been bound" really hits deep considering how important of a question this is to Geralt.
I love when games take a moment to slow down and take in the world. Especially in a somber story like the Witcher, a scene like this can be incredibly impactful
A beautiful piece of art made within one of my favorite works of art. This song always brings a tear to my eye. Whoever wrote this and performed this is genius. I loved learning this on guitar and it makes me want a lute or lyre or whatever the instrument is.
Dandelion in books - bard Dandelion in the tvp series - bard even in the netflix series - bard Dandelion in games - a jester who does not sing any song The Witcher 4 must rise to rehabilitate Dandelion. I want songs like "Wolven Storm", hundreds of which we will watch later on youtube! Give the voice to the singer.
Priscila reminds me so much of Essi Daven that listening to this makes the feelings much more powerful... (If you're reading this then read the books instead of googling who she is, it will spoil a immense part of it. She appears in A Little Dedication, from The Sword of Destiny. )
I walk into the tavern not expecting anything special. Then I get blown away and go on an emotional roller coaster. The beauty of the melody coupled with the tragic lyrics of Geralt and Yen broke me down. 10/10 one of my best moments in gaming.
+VikingFromHalland Hell, even Geralt looked a little misty during that song. If it can bring a tear to a hardened Witcher's eye, you can weep like a baby and feel no shame =)
First a bard that reminded me of Essi Daven and then such a touching song...that was double KO for me...had to stop playing the game for some minutes, read A Little Sacrifice and The Last Wish and then I was able to play again. This was the moment I realized that "my Geralt" will choose Yen, not Triss.
One of the best things about the Witcher 3 is how well the facial animations are done. Some games have characters that, like Conan oBrien said, have the eyes of a carp that has been in a freezer for six days, meaning they look super dead and stoic. Just look at 2:07. The girl looks so alive and real, even tho everyone can tell she's just a video game character. This small detail of making the peoples' eyes more lively does wonders to capture the player's attention.
Mark Fitzpatrick We still have 5 months left in the year to decide, I'm not gonna call it yet. that said Witcher 3 is certainly my current top GOTY candidate.
+Mark Fitzpatrick This game was indeed extremely intense in every aspect. Even more terribly after reading the books. I'm an old 'un and this the 1st time i feel emotionally engaged with a game.
When i first played this game, when the sing came to an end I didn't realize I had tears running down my face the whole time No words can do it justice in my mind. Even "perfection" doesn't feel enough
It took me a long time to think of Witcher 3 as possibly dethroning Skyrim. This was the point where all denial of the possibility left me. It shook me physically.
Just another reason this game is amazing. Just a 5 min break to listen to a beautiful song. I very rarely let cutscenes play out but this song is so gripping
It only makes sense that Priscilla knew of the story, since Dandelion was involved in the releasing of the Djinn, which results in Geralt's making of the "Last Wish." Undoubtedly, he saw the results of this wish and later found poetry in it. For not long after, it would happen that Yennifer and Geralt would become a pair, as well as the father and mother figures of Ciri...is it real love? Is it purely the work of the Djinn that bound their fates(a spell)? Would Yennifer have fallen in love with Geralt, had Geralt not wished it? Considering that before the making of the wish, Yennifer was only interested in him as a Witcher, and it was only Geralt that was actually fond of her. It really is poetic and a potential tragedy at the same time. The song has a lot of references to the "Wish," and often brings forth the question "is it all authentic? Or the makings of the Djinn that bound their love through spell?" These scars long have yearned for your tender caress To bind our fortunes, damn what the stars own Rend my heart open, then your love profess A winding, weaving fate to which we both atone You flee my dream come the morning Your scent, berries tart, lilac sweet To dream of raven locks en-twisted, stormy Oh violet eyes, glistening as you weep The wolf I will follow into the storm To find your heart, its passion displaced By ire ever growing, hardening into stone Amidst the cold to hold you in a heated embrace You flee my dream come the morning Your scent, berries tart, lilac sweet To dream of raven lock en-twisted, stormy Oh violet eyes, glistening as you weep I know not if fate would have us live as one Or if by love's blind chance we've been bound [Is there love real? Or the produce of sorcery?] The wish I whispered, when it all began [again, Geralt's wish that bound Yennifer to him] Did it forge a love you might never have found You flee my dream come the morning Your scent, berries tart, lilac sweet To dream of raven locks en-twisted, stormy Oh violet eyes, glistening as you weep...
***** I sacked Yennifer off - she's not a nice person at all. Triss is a much warmer soul but I put her on a ship, couldn't ask her to stay n Novigrad :D
***** Precisely, did the djinn put something into motion? Create something that wasn't there? Is it a natural love? Would it have happened that way without the djinn? The song imposes the very same question; "...or did it forge a love we may never have found?"
During the game, if you romance Yennefer you capture another Djinn and release him on condition that he removes the bond of destiny between them. It is heavily implied afterwards that the Djinn in the short story didn't actually do anything to them and they're love was authentic from the beginning. It really is beautiful.
skipping this scene in the game should be a made a crime
skipping this scene in the game shouldn't be possible.
if you've played the witcher 3 you must know, one does not simply skip a scene.
@@NA-xg7lf agreed
I almost skipped it and I'm glad i didn't

Probably most emotional moment in a game. You sit and you hear your own story as Geralt.

Laser 92 have you read the books? This song tells geralt and yens story and how they're bound to eachother and constantly on and off

Laser 92 no problem. I didnt get it either at first but once i heard it after reading the books it made more sense
the song represents the beautiful passion between Yennefer and Geralt

Some games have characters that, like Conan oBrien said, have the eyes of a carp that has been in a freezer for six days, meaning they look super dead and stoic. Just look at 2:07. The girl looks so alive and real, even tho everyone can tell she's just a video game character. This small detail of making the peoples' eyes more lively does wonders to capture the player's attention.
I've seen people highlight songs from Witcher 3 but rarely is this included. It's goddamn beautiful.
I still remember the first time I was there in the game. I still get goosebumps
Seeing this for first time and you instantly knew
I think I know what my DnD Bard will perform at the next campfire
Really this song should win in game of the year and game of the year for the Witcher 3 wild Hunt so many emotions while playing this great game
When i first played this game, when the sing came to an end I didn't realize I had tears running down my face the whole time
No words can do it justice in my mind. Even "perfection" doesn't feel enough
Spoiler warning: I literally did go on a rampage after the vampire burned her with acid.
Me too.... I was so enraged... Killed everything that came in the way.... Gutted Nathaniel... and then that sick fuck... I piss in the Eternal Fire...
thanks for the spoiler -_-
@@lilianahmartinez2773 dude the game has been out forever now

@@lilianahmartinez2773 also "spoiler warning:" was there
One of the best and wholesome thing ever in Witcher , touched and moved , every time I see
I had only just finished the book the Last Wish when I got up to this point - helped tie the two together.
It took me a long time to think of Witcher 3 as possibly dethroning Skyrim. This was the point where all denial of the possibility left me. It shook me physically.
For one who generally doesn't like this type of music, I must admit that this is impressive, amazing, and beautiful.
I've played the game 4 times and I been meaning to romance Triss but then I listen to this and I lose the desire for her and run back to Yennefer
i come here like 4 times a day since i got to this part...thanks for the upload
Just another reason this game is amazing.
Just a 5 min break to listen to a beautiful song.
I very rarely let cutscenes play out but this song is so gripping
probably my favorite cutscene of the whole game
I prefer the "geralt and the bois" scene. But this one's the one I rewatched the most.
I'm a grown ass man and this scene and song made me cry the first time and it still does everything time I see it.
This song is one of my favorite in the Witcher 3 soundtrack
It's wild that my 4 year old daughter loves this song lol "Daddy play that video game song"
I love how you can hear glimpses of this song in the games OST, namely a lot of the Skellige music plays snippets or similar chord progressions in it
Rejoice! You can now find this version of the song on Spotify!
God I can’t wait to see this happen in the live version of the show
I bet that if I would listen to this in 50 years from now, i would still get goosebumps, witcher 3 kind of marcked my memories
One of the best cutscenes in history of gaming.
Triss loved this story too since she has the Last Wish book in her room in Novigrad
Yes i get that from her cabin😂😂
One of my favorite moments from the game.
it's a crime to skip this song
Bu sahnede amk şarkı mı dinletecen dediydim sonra şarkıya aşık oldum helal olsun CD projekt
This is so amazing!! Almost made me cry. 😭😭😭
I'm Polish but I love this version just as much. It's sang so well.
details such as this scene is what has kept the witcher rated the best and most detailed RPG
This comes before the sidequest The last wish, right?
@@howardlam6181 not really sure to be honest
I cannot imagine the studio the first day this was recorded. CDPR probably knew at this moment they had a BANGER of a game
God damn I love this game so much
2:33 Zoltan in the zone.
One thing that made me down was a Witch hunter armor he was wearing, oh dear poor boy.
Or the makings of the Djinn that bound their love through spell?"
These scars long have yearned for your tender caress
To bind our fortunes, damn what the stars own
Rend my heart open, then your love profess
A winding, weaving fate to which we both atone
You flee my dream come the morning
Your scent, berries tart, lilac sweet
To dream of raven locks en-twisted, stormy
Oh violet eyes, glistening as you weep
The wolf I will follow into the storm
To find your heart, its passion displaced
By ire ever growing, hardening into stone
Amidst the cold to hold you in a heated embrace
You flee my dream come the morning
Your scent, berries tart, lilac sweet
To dream of raven lock en-twisted, stormy
Oh violet eyes, glistening as you weep
I know not if fate would have us live as one
Or if by love's blind chance we've been bound [Is there love real? Or the produce of sorcery?]
The wish I whispered, when it all began [again, Geralt's wish that bound Yennifer to him]
Did it forge a love you might never have found
You flee my dream come the morning
Your scent, berries tart, lilac sweet
To dream of raven locks en-twisted, stormy
Oh violet eyes, glistening as you weep...
Shaun Powell i think the djinn did put them under a spell but over time they actually grew to love eachother
Choosing Triss over Yen after listening this song should be considered as treason.
That soldier walking by to watch for a while…might be the best cutscene in the game
Lord will not show mercy the people who skipped this scene
i am a goose bumps machine when i am hearing this song
