heard this song before, had a sad feeling to it, almost made me cry but now that i've listened to it with the subtitles, now knowing the words, i'll made a flood in room. i always had a feeling the song was about two people separating
The way this song is structured is so awesome. It's very nonchalant in the beginning when she sings about the cherry blossoms back in he memories. As the song goes on, it's just builds and builds (the stuttering part is cute) til she finally says "sukideshita" which Nagi sings very nicely with the little fall at the end and is my favorite part (well, it is the climax of the song) :) Thanks for translating!
its hard to make song that can really hit ppl's hearts as good as this one you noe... its like how artists spend their lives creating art but only a few are masterpieces... And this is one of those masterpieces xD really made me FEEL the song rather then just listening to it
The passion and emotion in this song is overwhelming... I've said it in the past and I still agree with it now; ryo is an amazing composer and lyricist and nagi is an amazing singer. Supercell as a whole is one of my favourite music groups and they've got the talent and passion to justify it... The whole song told a heartwarming story, and the strange thing is, it's only a 6-minute song and I still empathized with and cheered for the singer's character... it's touched me that much. :S I'm wierd
i think it means "both a beginning and an end." the sakura petals mark the end to her high school routine, as well as the beginning of her (their?) post-graduation life. it's also the end of her familiar life by her crush's side and the beginning of her life independent, alone. at any rate, thank you for this video, it's brilliant! ;-)
man this song rocks as expected of supercell( i meant the vocalist) like kimi no shiranai monoagatari... the voice is so beautiful cant stop listening to it every minute.
@Bepanthen3 You'll be pleased to know that they're going to. Supercell is doing the opening theme for Project Diva Second, featuring Hatsune Miku, and the single comes out in July.
@LucidDivinity Yup, they stock tons of anime music. Right now I'd actually recommend Play-Asia because they stock almost everything CDJapan does and have cheaper overseas shipping generally, but it depends on where you live.
@IrkenEliteLana Whooo there is no way that's I can cover everything in a single TH-cam comment. There is no single answer to explain such a broad cultural trend, really. The fact that English is mandatory starting middle school in Japan is almost certainly a factor, since that means most people, especially young people, are familiar with it. As for the rest of the answer, you could probably write a thesis on it and not cover everything.
I just want Ryo-Supercell to get a youtube channel, so I can watch all of his videos as soon as they are available. Sifting through youtube for his work is so tiring! Not that it isn't worth it though ;) But his channel sure would be successful.
@prazyna61 Farewell to things that she (they) has grown used to - now that they've graduated and won't come to their school (that often) anymore. Things like the road to school, the sakura trees on the way back home - they've becoming memories. I don't totally understand "the end with the beginning" either, but it might has some connection to her confession at the end of the song. Confession ~> new relationship at the end of their friendship. I don't know.
this song has an unexpected twist. When i heard the first 60 secs. i thought, what a slow song, then 1:40....didn't see that coming. Supercell you are awesome
nada de español? Adiós recuerdos es una, porque Supercell tiene muchas, de las canciones mas bonitas y nostálgicas, me remite enseguida a mi secundaria, que tiempos aquellos. No voy a decirle adiós a mis recuerdo.
It really an awesome song T_T If you compare "Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari" with Sayonara memories, they have the same premise but the first decides not to tell while this decides to say it. But in the real world, they are both sad ending lolz
@vuongnh0607l Im probably waay off but umm I thought "End with the beginning" meant that while they're time at school has ended now a new part of her life will begin, with her boyfriend by her side, or something along those lines.
woah, Supercell has like, um, 11 members(eh, soccer team??) but it only has one lyricist and musician and all the others are like illustrations and animations/photography or designs. Can we call this a band? (BTW love their songs)
Nagi is so cool. :D And her voice sounds almost EXACTLY like Gumi's! Compare this version to Gumi's cover, and you'll be surprised at how similar they are. Of course, Nagi's human voice is better, though. :)
@TheEvilcoolaidMan21 I'd be surprised if they didn't. When I said it depends, I meant the cost of shipping, not whether or not they do it. If they can ship to the US, I'm sure they can ship to Canada too. :)
This song is super awesome^^ And the only reason for 7 haters is becos this song is so sad that they cried until their eyes are blurry and pressed the "dislike" button instead of "like" button:)
This song...reminds me of me. Except for the ending. I really liked this one guy, and we were really good friends, but last year we barely saw each other and now we barely talk TT But I want to get to the end of te song I MUST CONFESS!!!
@PureOwnMyAge ... I'm afraid you're a little misinformed. Vocaloid was invented by Yamaha, Hatsune Miku was created by Crypton Future Media, and Supercell is a group of creators consisting of one musician (ryo) and several artists that started off producing music using the Vocaloid 2 software. Just check the Wikipedia article on Vocaloid if you want to know more.
I really like this song but I've got a question... I'm from Poland and I don't know what exactly means : 'The end with the beginning' Is it, like, tell something from the beggining to the end? And how to undersand : 'Farewell memories'? She's telling goodbye to that memories or that's the memories of their (boy's and girl's) farwell? I would be very pleased if someone could help ^^
Is already 10 years. But I still come back and listen.
heard this song before, had a sad feeling to it, almost made me cry

I'm so glad I found out about this band. They're amazingly talented and original.
最近毎日聞いてる!
いい曲すぎる・・・!
Wow
The song went as a full story with no backtracking! I am Amazed.
Thank you for the upload ^_^
何回聞いても泣ける。神曲!!!

4:36 to 4:47 is so beautiful. you can hear the emotion in her voice when she sings "wakanaiyo~"
amazing lyrics.
The passion and emotion in this song is overwhelming... I've said it in the past and I still agree with it now; ryo is an amazing composer and lyricist and nagi is an amazing singer. Supercell as a whole is one of my favourite music groups and they've got the talent and passion to justify it...

『一目見た時に思ったんだ
この人の事 好きになりそうって』
『だから私 キミとなんていうか
今のままさよならしたくないの
友達のままじゃもう嫌なの』
この歌詞 めっちゃ好ーき///
I usually always find myself at tears at the end of their songs.
They are beautiful and full of emotion. ; u ; Love it.
i think it means "both a beginning and an end." the sakura petals mark the end to her high school routine, as well as the beginning of her (their?) post-graduation life. it's also the end of her familiar life by her crush's side and the beginning of her life independent, alone.
at any rate, thank you for this video, it's brilliant! ;-)
I love the illustration! beautful!

the voice is so beautiful cant stop listening to it every minute.
English name is Sayonara Memories, if anyone is curious.
No, this is not an opening to any anime at the moment.
This song made me draw a tear.
Thanks for uploading!!
@Bepanthen3 You'll be pleased to know that they're going to. Supercell is doing the opening theme for Project Diva Second, featuring Hatsune Miku, and the single comes out in July.

this song touched my heart
感動した!!
Yay! Subs! Thanks for uploading
@ChampandSean Nope. Supercell's 2nd major single, vocalist is Nagi.
@rappwr "Omoide" or "kioku" but in this case the title of the song is actually "Sayonara Memories" (memoriizu).
oh god the audio encoding makes me want to cry ;_;
I just want Ryo-Supercell to get a youtube channel, so I can watch all of his videos as soon as they are available. Sifting through youtube for his work is so tiring! Not that it isn't worth it though ;) But his channel sure would be successful.
This has got to be a sequel song to Melt (like Oshiete Ageru to World is Mine). Which is just super sweet.
@prazyna61

@Parqueiininja If you had trouble navigating Japanese sites, CDJapan is in English. It's where I got my copy of the CD.

oh sweet, i guessed the last few lines right with my knowledge of japanese from anime. lol
@theholyrevenger Yanagi Nagi is the singer of this song.
Nagi is so cool. :D And her voice sounds almost EXACTLY like Gumi's! Compare this version to Gumi's cover, and you'll be surprised at how similar they are. Of course, Nagi's human voice is better, though. :)

Farewellは、旅立つ人へ向けた別れの言葉なので、合ってるんじゃないかと思う。
曲中に「あと少ししたら、もうここには戻れないのに」とあるし。
@sakichan131bellkid almost. the beginning is 'sugoi'. (sorry my computer doesn't have japanese on it). you got 'tsugoi'.
5:00 - 5:45 is just wonderful
This song is super awesome^^
And the only reason for 7 haters is becos this song is so sad that they cried until their eyes are blurry and pressed the "dislike" button instead of "like" button:)

@lygerzero0zero You said "it depends on where you live for shipping from Play-Asia" right? Would you happen to know if they ship to Canada?
