    This is what I love about Metal music, the relationship with classical music and
    Floor in particular who studied opera and drama for 1 or 2 years that metal heads also listen to classical music.
    I myself am classically trained guitarist and find Nightwish fits my musical taste because of its relationship with classical music.

      Ciao Humphrey, you're right! I've started with Nightwish and it was a great start in Metal because I found many many interesting things and a great community with open mind and the desire (like mine) to explore new sounds

      It's called symphonic metal for a reason. I grew up on classical music, compose some now, and Nightwish is my favorite band.

    Floor singing some opera in front of a load of metal fans 😊. I think she sounds more relaxed here than on the television show where she sang this, although the sound may not be as good.
    Floor will tell you herself that she is not an opera singer, but she can do a good impression of one 😉

    Here's the setlist from that ReVamp MFVF 2010 performance:
    1. Here's My Hell
    2. In Sickness 'Till Death Do Us Part: All Goodbyes Are Said
    3. Fast Forward
    4. Break
    5. Million
    6. Kill Me with Silence
    7. Sweet Curse (with Simone Simons)
    8. Energize Me (After Forever cover)
    9. Under My Skin
    10. I Lost Myself
    11. O Mio Babbino Caro (Giacomo Puccini cover)
    12. In Sickness 'Till Death Do Us Part: Disdain
    13. The Trial of Monsters
    14. No Honey for the Damned
    15. In Sickness 'Till Death Do Us Part: Disgraced
    16. Head Up High
    During that concert the sound crew scr3wed up from time to time (e.g. when Simone joined Floor on stage), which became somewhat of a tradition at ReVamp gigs, so it might be that Floor gave it a little extra just to make sure.
    Before OMBC, she sang "I Lost Myself", a beautiful and very personal song with just her and Ruben (on keys). Here's an example (if you don't mind the fan cam 'quality' and some in the audience just chatting through all of it). Notice her expressions near the end: the smile at 3:51 .. and then at 3:57 fighting back the tears. Cheers from Amsterdam!

    Hi Ilaria!
    Referring to your statement that you are not an opera voice coach - it is in Floor that you can tell how versatile a singer she is. She is almost perfect, she can sing in many different ways, she has no limits. The proof of this can be the performance in the Dutch TV program - "Beste Zangers" (i migliori cantanti) where there is no audience and only invited singers watch and evaluate others (max. 6-8 people). Each of them sings songs of each of them, or songs close to them (being part of their musical education). This season with Floor Jansen is just wonderful, you can even hear Latino music by her 🤣🤣
    Ciao!
    And let's remember one very important thing - Floor Jansen is not, and never has been, and never will be like Maria Callas... It's enough for her to be like "Valkyrie Queen".

    • @TrainingVoiceilaria
      @TrainingVoiceilaria  ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Ilaria, I enjoyed your review of Floor singing O mio babino caro, I guess you liked it the same as I did. The first time I heard it it was the other version you found (which I think was better than this one); another nice piece she has done but with her friend Simone Simmons from the band Epica - Stabat mater dolorosa, it’s a beautiful duet!

    Floor does the last line without breathing, as it should. The opera singer in the clips did not trust herself to do it without breathing. The line has to flow from beginning to end. That is a bigger mistake than missing the "t" in tormetno, haha. I don't agree on your assessment that Floor was too powerful. The critcism should have been that Floor did not adjust enough that she was singing with a microphone. Remember she studied this piece at the music university in the Netherlands (among other singing educations) and had to do that without microphone.

    • @TrainingVoiceilaria
      @TrainingVoiceilaria  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ciao Ronald, I didn't know that she studied this piece before, this is a new information that I collect from you, ao first of all thank you for your contribution here 😀 anyway this is my personal opinion (as a non Opera singer), I think in this case it was impossible to sing it without the microphone for the ambient, and also the piano should be a digital amplified piano. Probably this is reason why Opera voice teachers choose the other version from a tv show 😄

    Floor Jansen is not the only Nightwish singer to have covered 'O mio babbino caro'. The original Nightwish vocalist, Tarja Turunen, has also done a rendition with orchestral backing. I want to be clear that I am not putting this forward in the sense of "who is the best singer" - Tarja has had several more years of classical training and practice at the craft than Floor. But I am curious to hear your opinion on Tarja's singing:
