I would also add that the Imperials can gain a lot of advantage by capturing rebel leaders- this effect is quite pronounced if accomplished in the early game. It limits the Alliance's actions and/or their movement, making the Empire's job of hunting them down a little easier.
Looking forward to your Anachrony tutorial!

I always capture Mon Mothma. She's the one who can (and does) block the Emperor's missions.
My problem is that the Rebels have so many ways to collect influence, and while I could block some of them, it means my fleets aren't moving around.
I have a LOT of trouble winning with the Empire...that's why I'm here. But, today I definitely lost because of dice rolls. Every time, yes, EVERY time he blocked my missions, his rolls were enough to stop me. I only completed missions that were not challenged. And don't even mention the battles.
The timing for me today was brutal.
I was going to freeze Mon Mothma in carbonite and move the Rebel influence marker back one space, but Chewbacca had a card that made my attempt simply fail. No dice. Lost the card and wasted Boba Fett. Grrr...
Still love the game. Just can't win with the Empire.

I've found that the best strategy is just to try and deny rebels any resources and production. At the very beginning it may be smart to move up to 3 of your fleets per turn, especially if you can occupy all of their systems for the production phase. It is tempting to go for capturing heroes at the beginning (due to their lack of spec ops), but that is rarely worth it if you dont have a card to capitalize on it.

Agree with video and comments: move move move.
Sipping the probe deck helps against Rebel Base relocations, but still need to get there, and army. So spread, limit your mission card usage and mission opposing. Deploy all at front, including Death Star.Moving is hard, slow.
Priotise recruiting leaders with tactics value, every 3 from 4 leaders should move/attack.
Worst 4 things Rebel can do every round:
    1. Use diplomacy to get loyal best 2 build systems,
Counter: subjugate them. Or Try to do your diplomacy first, even if fails you are there to oppose too.
Also if you are working on your Star Destroyer builing systems loyalty if Rebel oppose it then that rebel don't turn systems elsewhere.
If you do diplomacy every round the Rebel will expect it and waste 1 leader to oppose you.
    2. Blockade your system even with 1 X-wing (won't build can't deploy)
    Counter :spread, have fleets everywhere
Also you can blockade temporarily too, just winning ground or leaving 1 TIE and 1 trooper behind at loyal systems so if it turns, get ambushed it won't build for the Rebel.
    3. Sabotage : early just spread, ignore. Removing Sabotage while getting project cards cool too, but 75% of your actions should still be spreading, moving.
    4. Targets subjugated system with suprise attack
Counter: spread, produce, have units everywhere.
TOP: Any huge armada, battle group is target for freezing, even the Death Star!
Rebel will do ANY mission even attack these systems. Opposing them or using leader for combat means your group can't leave the system.
Counter: 1.have more smaller groups, move unfrozen ones.
    2. Try to park big groups in unpopulated systems: no diplomacy or Sabotage vs. those.
Double think opposing and using Generals, cost is group can't leave, and - 1 attack using your leader here.
For me best to capture/turn targets are Rebel diplomats. Mon Mothma alone can turn 7-9 systems loyalty in 10 rounds.
Also don't forget moving needs A. adj. system, B. transport, and C. no leader to allow moving out.
This includes Rebel Base in out movements. Read carefully each Rebel card if A, B or C ignored. Never all 3.
He might need carrier or his rescued leaders might block his movement......

It goes without saying but the empire should endeavor to stop as much revel production as possible. Especially early on. This is the foundation for multiple different effective empire strategies. If the rebels are able to get even a marginally significant force it can be very hard to win. Make them fight for every X-Wing.
In Rebellion every unit is precious.

I always win as the rebels against my friend who plays imperials. And his biggest downfall is not moving his fleets early enough and doing too many missions. He usually waits til around turn 3 or 4 before he starts moving and occupying my territory. By then I'm already a few points ahead, got all the production in the world with 9 planets of rebel loyalty and no fear for if he finds me, he just doesn't have the time to get to me.
    So yes, imperials should:
1)place there starting units and death Star optimally, to limit obvious rebel bases and rebel movement and to maximise their conquest.
    2) player fewer missions to start, move more and oppose more rebel missions. Denying rebel tempo is huge and building your own up will help you steam roll
    3) don't wait for probe cards, be active in searching and producing units as you go, building up a few strong capable forces and scouting with a gozanti and a couple storm troopers.

Hey man! I just played the game for the first time and I loved it but I was thinking about this strategy.
If instead of using the missions you just concentrate in moving you troops with your leaders to find the base. Wouldn't that be faster? Do you think is viable?

Well some of those missions are exceptionally useful, so I wouldn't recommend going completely mission-free, but focusing more on movement and searching isn't a horrible plan. It really depends on your play style.

If anyone is watching this in 2024 here are some tips 1 don’t get carried away with missions I know they are awesome but only use the necessary ones like loyalty and research/development and a project such as super star destroyer or Death Star 2 do not and I repeat DO NOT use the Death Star to win the game use your huge army and armada because like he said one x wing and the rebels gain two reputation and you lose your space station only use it to bully the rebels and blow up their valuable planets such as Geonosis or Bothwui 3 empty the probe deck so that they literally cannot retreat that will allow you to build and deploy all of your units to their base and not having to double back 4 like he said watch the rebels if they recruit Lando assume they have independent operation if they recruit wedge or Luke assume they have one in a million cause if you don’t prepare for the worse than that’s what’s gonna get ya and 5 protect your Death Star at all costs don’t let it die even if you have a second one you need it to live so that you can save time but hey if you wanna lose 2 reputation be my guest hope this helps have a good one
