My favorite performance of this stunning piece, the tempo & tone are just right for me, it beautifully flows from start to finish. I find the playing to be somewhat harsch & loud at times in other renditions. Not in this one, absolute perfection ♡
I do like this performance, and I do appreciate art - as much as I appreciate everyone's right to have and express their own judgments (and feelings) about art. If somebody dislikes a performance I cherish I deem it no less adorable or enthralling. Varietas delectat!
For me really not a special performance at all by Perahia and Lupu - really disappointing - I expected much better from them. It just lacks drama, intensity and passion - they are just moving through the notes. Much better is firstly Demus and Baduara-Skoda, but my favorite easily is the Emil and Elana Gilels recording. Right from the start it contains all the drama and passion required, combined with playing of beauty - a magical performance!
