Uri Segal / Orchestre National de France Salle Pleyel, Paris 00:00 I. Allegro con brio 12:22 Cadenza (by Beethoven) 16:47 II. Largo 26:15 III. Rondo: Allegro - Presto
Wow! Ive never seen him this young . Would luv to hear his Leeds and Van Cliburn performances esp. Lupu in 20th century work . He played so little. Dif he ever perform A Bartok concerto .I know he played Bartok and Prok 2nd concerto. I think from his personality Hindemith would have been important to him . Alas , but we dont hear him in this music ! Too bad. Wish he could have performed another 10 years !
I remember briefly meeting Radu Lupu after he had played the Brahms D minor Concerto with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia Park outside of Chicago in the summer of 1977. My friend and I spoke to him about technically challenging piano music. Upon mentioning the Chopin G# minor etude in thirds, he remarked, "Dahm hard!" In discussing piano concertos, without specifying which one (though I'm certain he meant 1 or 2), he said of the Bartok, "Impossible!"
Впервые слушаю этого пианиста! Потрясён совершенством его исполнительского искусства! Каденция первой части замечательная!
Wunderbar, so einfühlsam gespielt. Vielen herzlichen Dank . 👍🤗🎶💛🌻🍀

He played the Prokofiev 2nd in the Van Cliburn finals in 1966.
A stupendous performance.
The poster of this video has some other Lupu recordings in their video feed that might be of interest. Cheers!
I wanted to hear his tone up close🥺
