I had the great growing up experience of working at Boeing when I was an 19 year old kid. The Boeing boom. I think there were more people working there than the population of my state. Met people from all over the U.S. working there. My job was behind the navigator's station running electrical wire bundles down to the lower section in their respective conduit locations. The station was only the frame work before the panels were installed. Great memories..........

I worked the ramp in the 80's, I loved the 727. This was old school flying. No digital avionics or fancy cockpits. This is old school switches, dials, and gages.

The 727-100 was rare in the 1990s, even more scare now. Funny to see the oval No. 2 engine s-duct inlet. Never saw one of those in person. The -200/-200Adv had round inlet similar to the No.1 and No.2 pylon mounted engines. My dad flew the 727-200Adv as FO and Captain with Delta in the 1980s and 1990s respectively, it was a great plane.

    I love this old man!
    2 special moments of him:
42:43 catching what seems to be a flying insect, impressing the 4th man on board!
01:12:27 Christopher Walken demanding his papers, leaving the young first officer no other chance, but to comply!
He's so funny, yet the most professional man on board :)

On 50:30 FL150 by hand... awesome!!!. You can see the wear on different parts of the plane but behaves as trusty and precise as the first flight. Love the 727. Love Boeing. A nice crew too, very professional and compenetrated to each other. Excellent video Air-Clips, congratulations and thanks for sharing with us this 727 nostalgic flight.

Great video of a 727-100 which was a legend in the evolution of the commercial aviation industry! I remember my first flight on the 100. What a great experience to move up from piston aircraft. I was so excited to be flying on one. This video is Deja Vu for me! The end of an era for the old bird. It looks like it has seen better days and deserves retirement!

My father flew these for TIA in the late sixties, transitioning from Constellations since 1947. I flew it once on a charter to Vegas in 1969, that is tried to since they cancelled the flight in JFK due to a fuel leak. I was in the cockpit waiting for engineer to finish the walk around when he called my father on the inter phone. I remember him walking back to the rear door for a look see while the passengers booed him, since they were already delayed several hours. He just kept telling them he only flew the plane

It's a good thing that whole flight crew can co-ordinate. 2 pilots and a 3rd on throttles. 1 engineer. 1 radio with English. At least one navigator. No fly by wire nor apparently, hydraulics. AND, those generator cores are HEAVY.
Hey, lol, at 3,000ft I thought it was snow on the ground but no, white sand.

  • @Turboy65

That plane is 52 years old and though it's in good shape, you can see its age in every panel gap that's no longer exactly right like it was on the day it left the factory floor, and every panel has its little bumps and wrinkles that come only from decades and thousands of flight cycles. This warhorse has earned every wrinkle in its aluminum skin and bears them proudly.

Back in Sept of 78 I was cruising (my car) up I-805 south in San Diego and a beautiful orange/white PSA 727 slammed into North Park right in front of me. It wasn't the plane's fault. It was some Cessna's with a student piloting being trained visual instrument flying only complete with blinders. Bad day.

This jet was built when you could trust Boeing to build a durable and safe jet. This company obviously properly maintains this 727 and it must be costly for them to operate. I first flew on a 727 around 1965 or 1966 on a flight from Los Angeles to San Francisco on United Airlines. I believe it was the 100 series. Being used to the 707, 720 and the DC-8, it felt strange not to engines under the wings in pylons. Great video as this shows a competent crew taking their jobs seriously and a well maintained classic jet.
