esta es mi versión favorita, que manera de interpretar bien los tiempos y la onda de esos años, una banda capital del movimiento, de primer nivel..y grande cipollina!!!
Awesome upload -- Iove how it all dissolves at 2:50 into a Yardbirds style raga guitar break, pretty close to the one Jeff Beck plays on "Mister, You're A Better Man Than I". Bet the Quicksilver guys were at the Yardbirds show at the Carousel Ballroom in August 1966 -- THE show where Jimmy Page switches from bass to guitar b/c Beck was sick. And I bet they were at first pissed b/c Beck wasn't going to be playing . . .
fkn amazing as expected from QMS♥ thank you. I do not do drugs....anymore...nor will i encourage anyone to do drugs but good lord this band never gets old. My old-ass mind is blown fuck sake just when ya think you cannot be impressed. QMS in my heart always! thank you for this...PS the Codine verses in this make it so much more huge
This version is definitely different from the soundtrack album (especially the guitar solo). BTW, this song is actually a combination of 2 songs -- "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" by Joan Baez, and "St. John's River" by Erik Darling.
@@marknelson1846 thanx. I thought it was one of those ancient folk songs whose author was forgotten. the one on 'Sons of Mercury' is rhythmically irresistible. LED ZEPPELIN did it on their 1st record. but QUICKSILVER's can't be beat. SG's rule
@OdeToNecrophilia It wasn't so much a movie as just assorted video, the scene with Codine is from that test, you can see the Airplane play the same event in that DVD retrospective fom a few years ago. I wish there was more of the footage out there.
@casadyrocks I've seen Revolution and there isn't a scene with the airplane in it. Just Quicksilver playing Codine in (i wanna say one of the ballrooms? dont know which one thought) a show.
@casadyrocks i have that and that wasn't at the trips festival man. It happened at the Longshoeman's Hall, not the Fillmroe where they are playing on the dvd.
I don't understand. Never having taken LSD, I was of the impression that it was sort of a liquid absorbed onto paper for instance? Anyway, not tablets. Any one know?
think they pressed it in pill form back then. gel tabs, capsules, sugar cubes and paper. had it good in all forms nowadays liquid droppers or paper seems to be the standard. think they got rid of the pill form cause to cops were weighing it and people were getting harsher charges for it
Much more likely to find it in tablet form, sometimes capsules, in the late 60s, white lightning, purple owsley, blue cheer, strawberry flats, pink double dome, orange wedge (STP, that one), etc., etc.
Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck could have sued (not like they would ever dream of it) over that guitar break at 2:50 -- some of that's note for note Yardbirds from the raga break on "Mr. You're a Better Man Than I" -- released in 1965 before Quicksilver was even a band, then re-released as the B-side to the "Shapes of Things" single. "Shapes" was the one and only FIRST freakin' psych rock hit in early 1966 -- the Quicksilver guitar players not only heard it but were Yardbirds freaks, obviously.
very very beautiful. I love psychedelic era

Joan made it known but "Babe..." was written by Anne Bredon when she was a student at UC Berkeley in the late 50s.

Yeah, it's all fun and games until the cop's face starts melting.
Oo god I remember 2 cops faces melting as they talked to me. I couldn't quit laughing

Very cool!
:)
i like the way they caress the apple at 1:44
+Acidic Marisa Peach. I can just imagine the fuzziness feel on acid.
2:50 melting like love
emptymorphous that's how it should be with everything
Or like Jeff Beck in the "Mister, You're a Better Man Than I" guitar break. :) Love it!

Does anyone know where I can find the lyrics to THIS SONG? This version. Thanks in advance.
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, I meant. :-)
We need more vids of people getting high!
This has got to be late 1966 and yes, Quicksilver does have every right (like Randy California) to sue Zeppelin. #endurancewriter
the song is originally by Anne Bredon. Joan Baez recorded it before Zeppelin or Quicksilver...

@@chromedreamer, written in the late 50's, the association recorded it before led zeppelin also
Check out the very first recording of the song, only available here!!!

Did David Frieberg sing this?
He is lead vocal, gary duncan second and last john sings in some parts
where is the adorable, bright eyed, shaggy hair beau now?
negative votes or not... u are correct..
Nope the second is Codine (Blues) by Buffy St Marie...later covered by Donovan amongst others.......just saying.
