Great video. Only one thing. After nearly 30 yrs of detecting I showed my collection of coins, rings, chains and relics to a few people. I was proud of it. Within a month my house was broken into and robbed. I detect, but don't collect. Very hard lesson learned.
AMEN! Tell NO ONE! My Ex (who had a drug problem!) stole ALL my clad & silver. (20 YEARS of diggin worth!) At least she left me my thousands of PENNIES! Lol
A lot of people ask what I do with my finds. Now you have your answer! I almost ever ask. But sharing this video on social media would mean the world to me! I'm starting treasure hunting and I got a good amount of Pennie's but no silver, so getting some silver will be amazing; and if you do do the 2 silver give away for 10 people or so. please add me it would be amazing to get some silver, hope you reply and keep up the amazing work it's paying off

ive got a 1921 Morgan silver Dollar that someonr brought in to my convenient store to spend as a DOLLAR!!! i couldnt beleive it. you cant explain the feeling of holdinh something that old in your hand. To think it was around during D Day and the invasion of france.
Wow I wish I scored those in my cashier days although I did score old silver coins which was more common finding in pocket change back in the nineties. Although I never came across the major ones.
it's long been a dream of mine to have the time & opportunity to go metal detecting & find cool things like this. I envy you & how it has paid off both financially & with such great adventure & experience.
My best find was on the other side of the Texas border in Mexico. My husband, brother and some other friends were white wing hunting on the Texas side and my sisterinlaw and I crossed over into Mexico. We ended up in a junk store just across the International bridge that had literally just opened. They (2 women) were still unloading boxes of Jewelry. I was looking thru this shoebox with a lot of old rynstone pieces and happened to notice a gold stick pen with diamonds. I asked how much? She said how about 4 dollars. I took it back to the deer lease and there was a jeweler friend of ours who was on the hunt and he took his loop out. Without hesitation he said i will give you $800.00 right now. I looked at my husband (who knew diamonds) and he shook his head NO! It had a total of 7 carats in diamonds one stone being 3 ct's and the rest full-cut smaller stones. And was set in 22K gold. square shaped and a little smaller than of a quarter. but thick. When we got back home we took it to our family jeweler and he said it is worth every penny of about $3,000.00. And this was in the mid 70's. I had a pendant made out of it and years later gave it to my daughter. Talk about a head rush. And the kicker - I wanted to go back to the same junk store the next day and no one would go with me. :( We had just begun to scratch the surface of what they had. It was told to me that it originally probably belonged to a drug dealer because they were known to wear flashy stick pens.
When I started metal detecting I said I was goin to save all my coins. After a 6 months I got scared as the coffee cans started to stack up. I decided to cash them in every year and buy silver. Clad coins add up to fast and probably will never grow in value. Silver on the other hand? My year end video will soon be posted. Great year for you HH & GL next year.
You have given me great encouragement. Thank you for that. I know I an just one of the thousands of people following you. And I don't see you commenting on much. I'm just greatful that there's always one of your videos on to lift me up. 😘
I worked at a supermarket with a coinstar machine for many years. Customers would regularly forget to check the rejected coin tray at the bottom of the machine after they've finished using it so I would constantly check it during my shift and I've found some amazing coins. Old and new coins from all around the world. Now I need to get me a metal detector and do what you do.
Wow......I knew you were a serious metal detectorist, but I never realized you were this serious! That's definitely the largest amount of dug clad I have ever seen. The silver coins and wheat pennies really add up!
You sure did well JD, I've been detecting since 10th of April 2016 and I live in Australia, geographically about the same size as the USA. But we don't have a long history here and our population is less than 10% of that of the States, so it's harder to find old coins. But I think I've done well for a newby at the game. 24 silver, including a 1937 CROWN, 37 copper pennies the oldest 1847 CARTWHEEL PENNY, 30 HALF PENNIES the oldest 1837. 6 foreign coins including a stinkn' Lincoln lol and at last count about $530 in modern spendable coins. Cheers mate, love your videos and other TH-cam detectorists.
I spend all my modern coins on beer for my future hunts. But to each his own. You found alot of good stuff and it's the thrill of the hunt. Good to see a young man interested in the hobby.
You drink beer while hunting? LoL. Do you hunt, stop, have some beers, start hunting again, repeat? or do you carry a bag with you? A straw? LoL. Honestly curious.
Haha that's funny, I take a break and have a couple beers while cooling off and then i'm back at it. I can't do warm beers so a beer hat is out of the question.
LoL I was going to mention the beer hat in my initial response but I refrained...Plus, you kinda have have to keep your head straight. That'd make for some tough huntin. You could always get a bladder backpack and throw some ice in there haha. You could hunt using the "zig zag" method, alo known as the " lager stagger"
JD, you are just adorable! I'm just an old broken down mushroom hunter but you inspire me to keep hunting! I may bring a metal detector on my next hunt! Cool places here in the Granite State! 😁. Thank you for your videos!
great job JD! Patience and persistence is the key for success. You sir got me motivated to get back out and start swinging the loop. Thank you very much.
Thank you, This is the BEST metal detecting video I've ever seen!!!, you speak clearly, the video is clear, you have a fun hobby, I had to sell my years of collecting, am glad I kept my 'treasures for as long as I did saved me from ]hard times], fun fun fun detecting. I'll watch again and again and share your adventures with many. 02/27/17

That's cool. I don't think I've ever seen a UK detecting channel dig a 2 pound coin. Probably because of what you said, they're all out in the fields looking for roman stuff. lol.
Hey JD. What a remarkable collection you have built. I don't metal detect, but have found a few treasures coin roll hunting. Interesting video. Thanks for sharing!
Very nice. Too bad they don't get very old! Here in Europe we often find older ones. But it's unbelievable how many coins are lost in the US. Must be a coin paradise overthere!
hey JD, awesome channel! I just got into the hobby last year after wishing for a long time to own my own metal detector. I recently found a coin spill and I can't get my coins cleaned quite like you have here. any suggestions on cleaning? thanks and keep the videos rolling!
where would you usually go detecting? I gave it a whirl but found it to difficult to do in my wheelchair, I imagine beaches and popular riverbanks would be great places but a wheelchar in sand is never going to happen lol Thanx for the video share, I enjoy seeing others getting so excited doing something they love.
Great Videos!!! Wayne here... I'm on my wife's computer I subscribed and Enjoy watching. I've been detecting for about 30 years.. I still use my Whites Spectrum I'm saving up for maybe a Whites MX Sport Soon. GOOD LUCK and Happy Hunting
truly awesome treasure my kids and I just ordered a Garrett at gold its submersible and reviews seem good but you have field experience please tell me your opinion is it a good detector
Thanks for sharing your 2016 finds. Your video reminded me of when my dad and I spread out all our finds from our first year detecting. It was quite a pile as we were pretty rabid about detecting at the time. Good luck in 2017!
What brand of metal detector would you suggest for someone just starting out… something fairly priced? And where do you go for the best chances of finding stuff? Parks?? Lastly, would you say more of those amazing older coins would be found in the Eastern part of the country?
That is one hell of a horde son. Hope you have a big enough safe. I can attest to the finding of clad change.I have paid for two detectors five times over with clad change. Keep on plugging in 2017.
i have question. what sight do you recommend for finding the best prices for your coins ive been using coin tracker but ive brought my 1929 "merc dime"/"winged lady dime' to a shop and it was no were the price the website said it was and its in almost mint condition.i haven't been collecting for very long thoe i have may have like 20,25 U.S coins.but dont trust ant web sights for prices.
if you ever get a chance to come to Illinois to do some metal-detecting. you're more than welcome there's a lot of historical places in the lot of old buildings where the Earth has not been moved. Merry Christmas
Great video! I still have all of my finds too. My 2016 coin count stands at 13,237 after finding 104 coins today. Can't touch your silver totals, wish I could.
I'm sorry it was stated like he found 3000 coins at one time but that was his full collection but he has collected over the last 5 years. God bless brother it looks amazing!
what type of property have you found the most coins and jewelry on. I used to be heavy into the antique business and didn't deal with big stuff like furniture. But a lot of the old antique rings and jewelry. Also old masonic stuff as well as old religious pieces. Amazing what people will pay for that stuff. Where do you find what something is worth? Mainly Ebay? My brother used to collect coins and stamps when he was in his teens and he had books that showed.
Impressive man. I was wrapping up my clad and going through it last week for this year and last. I think I've wrapped up over $100 so far, but we do a lot of field and woods hunting. I was of the mind to save up for several years and do something cool with it. My wife wants to use it for the driveway :( and get a few dump trucks of gravel next year. This does show everyone that there is stuff out there and each penny adds up kids :) Great video and enjoy watching.
JD, your quite the treasure hunter! Thank you for taking the time to make these awesome videos. I have to ask though. Could you please share your secret to non abrasive cleaning? I have tried so many different techniques and still nothing. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks JD, great April's fool joke. I thought you deserve to keep what you find, and then-----April's Fool!; Well I hope you find a real treasure of money. Thanks for sharing!
JD, 5 years ago I bought just a cheapie Garrett ACE250 and have found about 6,500 coins, all US. I have hunted exclusively in my small city and those coins just keep coming and coming. Even though my city was established in 1910, I've never found a Barber coin of any type. Pray tell, what do you do with those nasty looking clad pennies that are half rotted away? I have a can with 600 "crappy" coins. I'll probably just throw them away, though. I'll be moving to Nashville next summer, so please don't clean out the city before then! (thanks)
Its funny jd, I have thousands of pennies I've found over the years, and bins of change.i to save all my silver. I always thought about selling it but detecting it all was kinda hard work.so I just save it.and I also have all kinds of different items and relics too. I think people that metal detect for the most part keep there finds.thats half the fun of it!
nice haul man. cant believe that all can b found. im steppin up my game next year. gotta buddy thats willing to travel to places to metal detect. id like to md with ya. im in Colorado Springs! found my first silver 925 ring! was exciting!
Great video. Only one thing. After nearly 30 yrs of detecting I showed my collection of coins, rings, chains and relics to a few people. I was proud of it. Within a month my house was broken into and robbed. I detect, but don't collect. Very hard lesson learned.
John Ballard lesson learned 2 people can keep a secret only if one of them is dead
most likely was someone you thought was a 'friend' , from my experiences.
Do not store all eggs in one basket.
John Ballard word of advice you sound get a safe that is implanted into a wall or a hidden safe for your finding
AMEN! Tell NO ONE! My Ex (who had a drug problem!) stole ALL my clad & silver. (20 YEARS of diggin worth!) At least she left me my thousands of PENNIES! Lol
And i thought i was doing good with my wife bringing home several silver coins every month from work. LOL
Sweet collection!
THATS IT! IM GONNA GO DIGGIN!!!
A lot of people ask what I do with my finds. Now you have your answer!

Rough estimate. Around $5,000.00. And that's counting the value of the silver and rare coins. Face value is probably around $2,000.00.
JD's Variety Channel that's impressive

@Ken H probably beer and cigerates.
Wow I wish I scored those in my cashier days although I did score old silver coins which was more common finding in pocket change back in the nineties. Although I never came across the major ones.
My dear friend the currency of a peso that you found here in Mexico has a value of approximately 750 dollars

One of my FAVORITE videos!
There's some woods by my house, it's at least 5 acres. And as far as I know it's never been detected
Wow......I knew you were a serious metal detectorist, but I never realized you were this serious! That's definitely the largest amount of dug clad I have ever seen. The silver coins and wheat pennies really add up!
As far as you go as a coin collector, you are a god.

Very impressive pile but I have to say I'm more impressed with your knowledge of coins. Thanks for sharing

Very cool! I only started detecting this last summer, but youve given me great ideas what to do with my coin finds. looking forward to the next video!
The properties I dig the owners were always very careful to never drop a coin their entire life, it seems. This is crazy impressive.
Mobliz make America great again Trump the best
Mobliz zombie 🧟♀️ has been a great night and I’m so excited for the next two days I wanna is a time of day to come over tomorrow omg 😮😯 has was a great 👍🏻 night with my beautiful little sister in your life and you are so excited
Awesome Dedication Is Rewarding, JD!
Very interesting. I'm JD too, so was attracted to this straightaway. Here in the UK, we don't find as much silver as in the States when coinshooting. And our coins aren't collectable unless in top grade. So coinshooting detectorists concentrate on the spendable stuff, which is worth way, way more than in USA. You are averaging about 12 cents per coin spendable, where I'm getting 50 or more per coin (after doing the conversion). So it's completely different; you do well on the silver, and I'm always down the bank paying in bags full of money. And most UK detectorists are concentrating on the centuries old finds on farmland, leaving the recent stuff for me! Happy new year.
Everything you said makes perfect sense, and I've make the same observations. In Australia they have the market cornered with spendables having the small $2 coins that people lose easily. lol. Happy New Year and best wishes detecting in 2017!
The Au$2 is worth about the same as the UK £1 coin, which is the most common coin found here, at least with modern losses. They are withdrawing it this year and replacing it with a bimetallic thing that I'm hoping will be nearly as easy to find as the old one. Here's hoping you keep the silver rolling in for 2017.
That's right. I forgot the pound is more than the USD, and the AUD is less than USD. :)
And we have the big £2 coin, which is worth about $2.50 or Au$4. I get one of those about every 2 hours in the parks.
That's cool. I don't think I've ever seen a UK detecting channel dig a 2 pound coin. Probably because of what you said, they're all out in the fields looking for roman stuff. lol.
Where do you metal detect? Like inside towns and in rural areas? Where to you like to go and what do you look for in a good detecting spot?
Maybe a warmer climate equals less clothing thus less pockets !?
daniel sonhud I'm glad you commented! That is a great theory.
jenny misteqq I’m flag you commented! Love when someone recognizes a great theory.
A lot of awesome finds. Thanks for sharing JD. Merry Christmas.
cool videos and great material. Thanks for sharing and greetings from WW2Historyhunter
hey JD, awesome channel! I just got into the hobby last year after wishing for a long time to own my own metal detector. I recently found a coin spill and I can't get my coins cleaned quite like you have here. any suggestions on cleaning? thanks and keep the videos rolling!
WoW nice collection JD, thanks for sharing.
Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
That's amazing. Good job.
where would you usually go detecting? I gave it a whirl but found it to difficult to do in my wheelchair, I imagine beaches and popular riverbanks would be great places but a wheelchar in sand is never going to happen lol
Thanx for the video share, I enjoy seeing others getting so excited doing something they love.
If you have a backyard...I would start there. :))

Great collection after years of hard work ..Nice one , Great video too
i have question. what sight do you recommend for finding the best prices for your coins ive been using coin tracker but ive brought my 1929 "merc dime"/"winged lady dime' to a shop and it was no were the price the website said it was and its in almost mint condition.i haven't been collecting for very long thoe i have may have like 20,25 U.S coins.but dont trust ant web sights for prices.

I FOUND 30,000 coins too...at the local coin and stamp place, down the street. Yeah, it was pretty cool.
if you ever get a chance to come to Illinois to do some metal-detecting. you're more than welcome there's a lot of historical places in the lot of old buildings where the Earth has not been moved. Merry Christmas
Where did you get the coin organizer sheets in the binder?
so all your clad you rolled you just roll it or do you clean it at all?
Great video! I still have all of my finds too. My 2016 coin count stands at 13,237 after finding 104 coins today.
Can't touch your silver totals, wish I could.
Amazing clad count for one year! Well done!
Wow you really did find a lot !👍🏻🎄☃️Merry Christmas!
I'm sorry it was stated like he found 3000 coins at one time but that was his full collection but he has collected over the last 5 years. God bless brother it looks amazing!
Great video! :) Couldn't believe how much was in that chest. Lol.
Hove you clean the coins from rust ??? Regards
what type of property have you found the most coins and jewelry on. I used to be heavy into the antique business and didn't deal with big stuff like furniture. wow how exciting .kool guys! !! ,it's has to be worth so much now a days !
This does show everyone that there is stuff out there and each penny adds up kids :) Great video and enjoy watching.

this video is amazing!! what an inspiration :)
JD, your quite the treasure hunter! Thank you for taking the time to make these awesome videos. I have to ask though. Could you please share your secret to non abrasive cleaning? I have tried so many different techniques and still nothing. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
I have a treasure chest box at home too & good video. 😊📲
What years are nickels silver, and where do you go medal detecting
Thanks JD, great April's fool joke. I thought you deserve to keep what you find, and then-----April's Fool!; Well I hope you find a real treasure of money. Thanks for sharing!
Good Ole Tennessee has been good to you my Friend!
(thanks)
do you clean your coins? some look cleaned.
