The good part is if you look at history, over time we humans are evolving and in general becoming less bigoted in all of it's various forms: racism, nationalism, classism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, monotheism, and even ageism. All of these forms of bigotry (and more) are slowly dying. The reason it seems there is such biga resurgence is just because the internet suddenly gave every bigot in the world a platform to be as hateful as they like because there is no accountability with such anonymity. Those people were always there, just most of us never saw them anywhere near as much.
There is a good part to that though also; they are being exposed to other races and different groups of people, and it's through actual experience with others they knew nothing about before that people finally see bigotry for what it is: unfounded biases: aka, delusions.
Also a bigot is intrinsically a coward; someone who is too afraid to have their bigotry proved wrong that they refuse to even attempt to learn the truth. That means that bigots everywhere have snatched at the opportunity to say what they really think with no fear of reprisal in any shape or form. The internet provides such cowards the best possible cover. Whereas the more peaceful and loving personalities find healthier and more constructive ways of occupying their time, online and off.
But I remember a time even in the SF Bay Area where I grew up that gay people were not generally accepted even there. Over the last 5 decades I've seen that change a lot. Now trans people are going through a similar struggle, but they are gaining more acceptance.
We have a very long way to go before we are free from bigotry, and humanity can finally experience peace and prosperity for everyone. Only bigotry stops us from working as a team to create that society. But evolution is always hard at work, and we humans are evolving. Unfortunately there will likely always be those who do their best to not evolve. But evolution is not something anyone could possibly stop.
Here is something I'd love for people to take notice of: if you look even at just my small list of forms of bigotry, it starts to become clear that most people in the world have had some form of bigotry thrown at them. I fully support anyone who works to help stop any of the forms of bigotry, but I must say that by only working to end one or even a couple of the forms leaves huge gaps where we can be divided still. So I propose people work towards ending bigotry as whole, because then we will naturally have a whole lot more support.
I wish you and all my fellow Earthlings peace and prosperity. ^-^

And as a white female person, my husband I used to do the same thing when traveling to none- White countries. We no longer travel to none White countries. Not safe. When I was very young, my family and I lived in two none- White countries. I have experienced the good, the bad, the scary and the ugly. While I was living in a none White country, my friend and I were almost kidnapped when we were 6 years old in front of my house. If it wasn't for our White neighbor who lived across the street from us, ran out the front door to chase the perpetrator, my friend and I would not be alive today. Another kidnapping attempt happened when I was 8 years old, and the list goes on. So you see, not only Black people experienced some sort of problems or people that want to harm us but White folks do, too.

I am a black man who spent ten years of my life in Russia and can safely say Russians are wonderful kind hearted and honest people who made my time there an amazing and even emotional human experience I've rarely experienced in other countries during my travels. Of course you will find some bad apples with negative feelings anywhere, but I have traveled to many countries and found that in Russia I was faced with more people with amazing kind souls towards black people than most or even any other countries I have been too in which black people are a minority. I think in the last part of this video this black guy shows a better understanding of Russian attitudes towards black people that I can relate too and he is beginning to better understand with help of his friends. It is best to understand Russian stares as simply something they, most especially Russian children, or some of them do only because they have not had any or much contact with black people beyond seeing black people on TV. In most cases this stare takes place only in the same way most people would stare at a famous person they suddenly see on the street, but one who is used to being stared at only by those who hate them when in another country may fail to realise this is not what is happening too them when in Russia. In 95 percent of cases there is no hate involved, only curiosity and in fact more love for you as a fellow human that has come from far away being than hate. As a solo pianist I play my own compositions and play adaptations of well known artists in jazz and classical music. Although I have adapted a composition by Tchaikovsky on solo piano, it saddens me that I have yet to compose an adaptation of a Russian folk song that has continued to follow me around since I left Russia and which reminds me of the land, the architecture, the weather and the kind, humble and sweet souls I faced daily in the streets of Russia. I found the humbleness and kindness Russians showed, alongside their feeling of pride in their history and their land, even more heartening considering all the wonderful achievements a Russian could boast about and all the often unfair and even untrue criticism Russia at times faces in countries who forget the Russian people fought and gave their lives to save in the great wars while a Russian is too humble and kind to remind them of this. Maybe I am going too deep, but I just want to say, thank you Russia for welcoming me and my family and showing us such love when we lived there. We all remember you for the kind souls that you showed us you really are without it ever crossing your mind that you had to prove this to anybody. I hope to visit Russia again one day soon and maybe give a performance on my piano that includes this Russian folk song that follows me still to express my never ending thanks and gratitude for some of the best moments and human experiences of my life. Peace and love, Richard Moonstone

Welsaid Richard. I didn't visit Russia but I do agree with you my impression of Russians and Polish are kind hearted people. Whenever i used to travel to Russia I would always be called Inastranits or Tshorniy Arab , I did not care and as much as I can understand Marcus , it is the same thing when you go to an African country , people will treat you differently , I lived in Ivory coast and seen it too many times . Now on another note , I live in Canada and the term negro is not considered a negative term , negro is not a bad word Some blacks prefer the term Negro to African American or Black, Martin Luther King used the word negro in a descriptive term so did Malcolm X .

    • @nonyabigness
      @nonyabigness 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Negro is not a negative term, no, but that is dependent on the context in which the word is used. Martin Luther king and other historical figures used the word but you must know while this word was being used this was at a time they were also communicating for us to have basic civil rights because blacks were being killed and hung. The term negro was used in a different era. Ive been black all my life I’m from Los Angeles and my family is from the south when other ppl of different backgrounds refer to me and others who are African American the term Negro would be considered rude and disrespectful to say to us. I’ve actually never heard no one refer to someone else by Negro.

I went to Poland in eighties in the midest of a revolution against communism. I was a teenager with zero knowledge of racism and didn't have a concept of racism based on colour as I went from Africa to Europe. As a student tourist I went there as it was the cheapest destination especially as we were able to exchange money on black market. While touring different polish cities generally people stare at you but not in hostile way. I felt they were curious. I remember particularly funny moments in city centre in Cracow. People from country side who came to visit some attractions like monuments look at us more than what they supposed to look at. We were three and one of our friend use to get upset. I use to tell him can you imagine some white man or woman coming to small town or a village how people would react? They will stare at them. Why don't you take easy and smile. The women generally were mostly friendly and would try to communicate. Children were mischievous as they come and ask you questions to see if you know their language. Men were generally jealous especially if they see you with a girl and they would call her names. My general impression was people were not as hostile as they would be today. But I really have fond memories and never felt they looked down at me at this guy is feeling.

I’ve been to Ukraine several times. The racial vibe there would be the equivalent to stepping back into the fifties in America. My friends there were awesome and treated me like an ambassador. Nothing but love and respect. But these were my Christian brothers and sisters. They also warned me to be careful about going out alone because of hostilities towards people of color. So while I was kept from experiencing racism there firsthand it didn’t take much to feel it from the occasional states I’d get from of some of the people. I’d tell any person of color going to that part of the world to be careful. Eastern Europe is still quite isolated from the rest of the world in terms of diversity, so don’t expect a red carpet when you get off the plane. You’ve goto to be tough, focused, and you’ve got to earn the respect of the people.

I some way, we have to understand, the reason why racism happens. It happens, because you have a very different appearance, and people feels this is new, and novity can bring fear or can bring affection. A white person can feel strange when africans stare at the white person, and a black person can feel strange when white people stare at the black person, but is all about novity. The reason why racism happens is because we fear something new. The solution for this is education, make people adapt to the new thing, and the black person or white, have to learn how to ignore that. Is very good to observe these things. Is very good to learn about other countries, we can discover new things and understand more of the humankind.

I spent 6 months travelling Europe...Spain...England...Italy...France and Denmark...I am light skinned black man..6’4 230lbs and never had any issues in any of those countries. It was quite the opposite, everyone was super nice, helpful and the women were all sweet to me. Once everyone found out I was a Canadian and not an American, I could see even more smiles 🤷🏾‍♂️..then the America bashing commenced...lol...interesting how every country had similar views on the plight of the USA under the current mismanagement.

Growing up in Ethiopia in the nineties you barely see white people so white people would get a lot of stare- the stare is due to curiosity. For black people though it can be a lot different specially in countries like Russia. Black people have dealt with racism through out history. Western nations have done a very good job creating a negative image of black people/Africans. Most western education doesn't highlight African civilization & enormous history. Western society always associate Africa with poverty and anything negative. Africans are mix of different cultures, different shades of blackness. I'm a very proud black man/Ethiopian. I came from a land of the origin of mankind, mentioned more than 10 times in the bible & Orthodox Christianity, had kings & queens, independent nation & currently have a very progressive leader who can lead us towards democracy and an economic development. At the end of the day we are all humans(black/white/asian) made by the almighty. We should only focus on positive vibes and peace.

Believe it or not, I've never exploited anyone in any part of the world. I didn't vote for those who do either and those who do vote for them aren't even aware of these evildoings. You cannot make the European peoples collectively responsible for the evildoings of Globalist elites who harm our own countries as much as yours (given you are African, sorry if not), only us more in the long term and yours more in the short term.

I think you missed my point, the thing is that first of all, so many migrants from Africa, Turkey and the Middle East have come and are still coming to Western Europe that we are in actual threat of becoming minorities in our own countries, beginning in the major cities, it has already happened in some city quarters of major Western European cities and it is due to Europeans not breeding enough children while migrants from the mentioned areas breed far more. Now as for work, while it is respectable that you worked while you were here, many come here only for the welfare state. Infact, a German Green Party politician said that "we need people who feel at home in our welfare system" (that's how screwed up our politics are). Especially since 2015, most people who come here whilst claiming to be war refugees could've easily gone to countries close to their homeland, but came here instead as economic migrants.
Now I completely agree with you that the exploitation of Africa by the West needs to stop and we need to help you guys, but we need to help you in your own countries. Mass migration to Europe won't help your countries but will destroy our nations in the long term. So as for the man in the video, it is clear that he went to Russia not for selfish reasons, and such people who come to our countries for respectable reasons are always welcome as long as they are not too many at once (see above).
I'm sorry if you experienced hostility here, but you'll meet nasty people wherever you go, ask white people in South Africa or Namibia.

Racism is natural, people naturally don’t things that are different. Now I’m not racist but there are some things I don’t like because there different (not people) so you really can’t be mad at someone for being racist but it’s wrong to express it. If your racist keep it to yourself don’t cause harm to others.

The few Russians I’ve ever met were extremely nice. That was low key surprising because I’m a Cold War era veteran (although at the end, 1980s) and have been been hearing stories about “monster Russians” since I was a little kid during the 1960s. It’s on my bucket list to walk around in Red Square one day.
I think the original (?) German word for “black” was also “neger?” I can recall one of my German friends specifically using “schwarzer” instead because “the other word sounds like you know what, and we want no confusion…we don’t get down like that.”

What people don't realize is that black people were treated very well in the Soviet Union, especially the leader Brezhnev, he was always very welcoming to them. In the 1930s many african americans moved to the Soviet Union.
