They are from the Ukraine. This was recorded live in the studio but they did go back and layer different tones of Tatiana’s vocals. Like lows and mids. Though all vocals are her. You can watch a truly live vid and she can deliver effortlessly and with a lot of stage presence.
@@EmiPellegrinoMusic Yep. Tatiana says that some of their songs have been inspired by Ukrainian folk stories and also of the Ukrainian political conflicts that go on there. Also her earrings have goldfish in it. Great analysis and I think you can learn Fry vocals easily.
Tatiana actually uses fry screaming in her music. She is just very good at getting deep tones. She has also said in past interviews that she is self taught, and hasn’t had any professional training.
Well, the sound is not as much "done" as you "get it". It's mostly a result of all your resonance spaces and you have little to no control over that. She does stand out with her deep pitch which is mainly due to the shape of her head and her upper body resonance and allows her to have a deeper and more full sound than many males and it lacks the higher overtones (if she wants to) which usually reveal that it's a lady screamer. She's truly outstanding - and the band is excellent as well.
@@nstag8r I saw the same interview (?) She did specifically state that it's not fry screaming...she almost had a condescending tone that fry screaming is the easiest and what she's doing is different... 🤘

Tatiana is self trained. There are some behind the scenes where you can hear her tracking just the vocals. She used to sing Otep songs into a pillow as loud as possible then she would go outside and yell at cars passing by. When she was 18/19 she found she could do a Randy Blythe-Lamb of God delivery.

This song is the most "shocking" for some people that haven't heard them, but it's not their best work, and only shows about 50% of her range. She can get WAY up there, and believe it or not, even more gutterral low in the growls. I've seen them live at a small venue, and her live voice is insane in the loud band mix.
@@EmiPellegrinoMusic I would check out their live performances of Captain Clock at the Resurrection Fest, and if you want to see her belting out, check out I Speak Astronomy. She gets up there at the end of the song.
@@VividAbominations Really good choices - The performance of Captain Clock at Resurrection Fest does a great job of showing off her range and being only a year old it shows her vocal power about where she is now. Her high cleans at the end of I Speak Astronomy are epic, though there aren't any live performances with perfect sound so the official video is best here.

This was amazing, thanks for all the explanations! :D Also, probably many people already said it, but you should react to Nightwish live videos and maybe explain us how our queen Floor does some of the things she does. "Ghost Love Score (live at Wacken)" is probably the best first pick, and then "The Poet and the Pendulum (live at Wembley)" after that. If you don't know Nightwish, I think you'll love them!
i was curious about her training as well, i end up finding an interview, and Tatiana actually said that she has had no vocal training and is self taught, and that she dont even do proper warm ups either. i admire her drive, but i do worry about her vocal folds, because so many amazing vocalist have ruined their voice for not training. lovely reaction and review
You are spot on about practicing a certain way over and over and then trying it a slightly different way before adding other skills. Case in point, eons ago (early 60’s?) I was reading a Wheaties cereal box about the story of LA Lakers great Jerry West. He explained how he became such a great basketball shooter, in essence he would pick out something like 8 different spots around the basket and start trying 10 shots from each spot. He did not move on to the next spot until he made all 10 shots in a row on the first spot, then on to the next spot and if he missed one of his 10 shots he would go back to the beginning and start over until he could complete the entire 8 position circuit without a single miss, only then did he move onto other basketball skills. Yep, practice over and over and over...lesson for any skill to truly master that skill.
Great to actually see someone analyze the growl/scream part of this finally. Even though you're not a professional vocal coach I think you have a very good understanding of whats going on. When I was actively doing growl/scream vocals in bands a few years back I had much less technical understanding about how it works, I was more like one of those "dunno! I just do it" kinda guys. I learned to know my voice pretty well though and so developed a range and also a the technique to not hurt myself doing it. Today I know that I was mostly using false cords and manipulated the technique to be able to go low and high (naturally I get a kind of "mid-high" sound). Very nice reaction and analysis! :)
Just discovered your channel, and looking forward to more reactions! Would love to hear your thoughts on more metal bands like Nightwish, Epica, Unleash the Archers and Kamelot.
it is "live", but it's obvious that it was mixed/mastered. 12:22 and 15:22 her vocals are clearly double-tracked. still an impressive performance, but typically any "official live video" has been worked on. that said, she still sounds great live.
Jinjer is a band from Ukraine, not Italy... still an interesting video reaction... I feel like what she is doing is fry scream, not false chord... false chord is more grunty and because the vocal chords are open it is hard to control air to get that type of melodic effect and sustained sound production... although I've seen her do a mix of both in their songs... Tatiana is an amazing vocalist and supposedly has no real training. The whole band is epic, for a 3 piece band they make a huge sound on stage, and it is just flawless... I can't wait for them to come back to NYC in September.
They've said it's a live session, but they did a few overdubs afterwards. She can totally do this live though: check out other videos like Who Is Going To Be The One, or Teacher, Teacher. She's also had very little formal training.
The more I listen to this song and the reaction videos the more I get appreciation the section14:22 thru 14:27 when she just opens up on that run!! Absolutely my favorite part!
Yo Ive watched so many reactions that its become a pet peeve of mine that everybody wants to pause right in the middle of that high soaring note at 14:26 instead of fully taking it in and feeling it and then pausing to talk about it.
Really nice reaction and analysis with explanation about different pitches in the metal singing. Agreed. It takes years of practice. I am myself a counter tenor with a range of F#1 - F6 and shouter. I mix both styles with subharmonics and overtones. Freddie Mercury is my mentor and he was the reason why I started singing at the age of 9. At the age of 21 I got into classical after hearing Andrea Bocelli. At the age of 24 I started with metal singing. I am 34 now. One little thing to say is that my singing voice is pretty loud and it's hard for me to exercise at home because I have to lower my voice and I sound pretty bad when I record stuff 😅 A little bit of back story: I had a break for about 3 and a half years due to a heavy depression and I started to sing again last year. I really liked this reaction video on one of my favorite songs :)
It would be amazing to see you react to Nightwish - Ghost Love Score live from tampere (2013). They are fronted by (in my opinion) the single best female vocalist alive today ( who also looks like a nordic Goddess), and they are one of the best live bands in the history of rock and metal...as good as Queen was at their peak. Great band, good song, Tatiana is a fucking BEAST. This song is a decent intro to the band, but in all honesty is kind of bland compared to a lot of their stuff (although i DO love this song). For a good cross-section of her vocal ability in one song, check out Teacher Teacher official live. It's awesome. Great vid, Good reaction. New sub.
I guess the popular thing to do now, is to hop on the whole "Vocal coach reacts to Jinjer - Pisces" train... I mean I swear there are at least 20 of them I've seen.
Wow, that was awesome Emi, one of your best yet, love it girl..we missed your face, big hugs..I just love Tatiana.. Emi, we want to hear you growl to, go girl
Wow! Fun from the start! New sub from Australia. Tatiana, Jinjer is Ukrainian, good diction for a second (?) language! Love the Hetfield comment! Your reaction is informed, fun, educational... Kudos!
I'm not into this kind of music .. But, I'll be F... Lying if I told you that I didn't like what I heard 😅 Great Reaction and Analysis as usual 👏 Peace out ✌
Right there with you. I'd never liked growling vocals even though I've been listening to metal since Metallica's black album came out when I was a teenager - male, female, it didn't matter. But first time I heard Pisces I was an instant fan, and it isn't even my favorite Jinjer song now - Who Is Gonna Be The One is my favorite, though I think Perennial is their best work.
Doesn't always take years for those naturally gifted. 10 year olds are hitting real clean whistle notes, belts and everything else although screaming does take some time to perfect
For the fact that she can do the below, she is skilled. A lot of vocalists that are into metal are extremely skilled.. There are techniques in doing such. The harsh screeching and to do some acrobatic below combination are typical in metal or in extreme music. Her singing voice though is straight and typical. :)
Emi Pellegrino i pledge you my sword, m’lady. I promise on my faith that I will in the future be faithful to you my lady, never cause you harm and will observe my homage to you completely against all persons in good faith and without deceit. 😂😂😂
Oh man. Teacher, Teacher! and Who Is Gonna Be The One are great videos for what Tatiana can do. Teacher, Teacher! specifically is great for showing off the rest of the band as well. Would love to hear either Ghost Love Score by Nightwish, or Awakening by Unleash The Archers! Both great female vocals, in very different styles.
S1lentSymphony there are so many more great performances why does everyone like just that song which is not even that great? There are better nightwish performances but there are also much better performers out there, yes flor is good but cmon be original EVERYONE requests that song all the fucking time in all reaction channels that I have seen, it is maybe the same 3 people who know no better....
Thank you for the honesty that you've seen it. Too many 'reactors' bullshit their viewers and start justifying it when caught by naming future videos of real reactions as "FIRST reaction".
Emi two songs by them you ought to react to and probably bring him along again)Jinjer - Teacher, Teacher, and Jinjer - Perennial. Also there are videos of live Jinjer performances. Resurrection Fest 2018 being one of them (is a 28 minute set though).
Female growlers/screamers aren't that rare in metal these days, but, Tatiana is just able to go SOOO low, it's rather extraordinary. She gets an even lower pitch than most male vocalists. She sounds like Randy Blythe, but, lower. And, let's not overlook the band! They are AWESOME players, especially, the rhythm section! Eugene, the bass player, is a friggin' BEAST, and, Vlad's drumming is out of this world. I have tickets to see them in Philly in October, and, I am super stoked to get to see them live.
@@derekcurrent6353 I missed them last year, because, I didn't even discover them until this January. I did see a pretty good video of their entire set from Kung Fu Necktie, in Philly last July, though, and, I'm sorry I missed that one!
Great analysis. The band is from the Ukraine not Italy. You should watch one of their live performances to see her do that without the studio mixing.... cure the disbelievers
Fun seeing the lady introduce her guy friend to Jinjer for a change. ;) As to years of practice, Tati practiced growls on her own for 5 years before encorporating growls in performances (she'd been singing in metal bands for 8 years by then). She says her growls were terrible at that point then she used them for about a year in the band before Jinjer which she says made her growls a lot better. Then she's been singing with Jinjer for 9 years, and with a brutal concert schedule since the civil war forced them to leave their homes to continue their musical careers 5 years ago. Their song about that choice is their only song in their native Russian - the title is translated as "I want it I'll get it."
It’s been a year since you’ve done Jinjer and you’re missing a lot, this was a just a warm up between her lows and melodies. Check out Some of her live concerts

New sub.
Wacken 2013 .Tampere was later. But all are great.I agree to the best female vocalist .
@@knutruther4964 Yeah, I didn't even realize I messed it up. I did mean Wacken. But thanks, glad you caught it :)
Was it a typo tarja :)
Haha - it's a wishful thinking. Check out Laure Le Prunenec of Igorrr, she may change your mind.
I guess the popular thing to do now, is to hop on the whole "Vocal coach reacts to Jinjer - Pisces" train... I mean I swear there are at least 20 of them I've seen.
If you have a guest, get a splitter so you can both have own set of headphones.
You should check out Nightwish - Ghost Love Score live at Wacken 2013
Great video guys!
Kudos!
Tatiana kicks A$$! I'm hoping by 2022 you've dished out the $20 for a 2'nd pair of headphones! 🤣
What a fantastic video you guys were fantastic you know what your talking about just fantastic I wish I could give you more than one like
Dimash, now Jinjer. Care to go for the grand slam with Nightwish (Ghost Love Score - Wachen 2013 live) and Devin Townsend (Kingdom - EGTV(?) live) ?
damn! them pipes tho!!! this is amazing. i officially love jinjer!
Cradle of filth Her ghost in the fog, the full lyrics video , Dani is great
You guys talented!!!
Check out nightwish: ghost love score. Everyone reacts to that one too, and it's probably more down your alley.
emi seems like a lot of fun
She's said that she doesn't do any warming up before singing. I saw that in an interview that she did with Jose Mangin, while in England.
I'm not into this kind of music .. But, I'll be F... Lying if I told you that I didn't like what I heard 😅
Great Reaction and Analysis as usual 👏
Peace out ✌
Right there with you.
Jinger “Who’s gonna be the one?” Live
Doesn't always take years for those naturally gifted. 10 year olds are hitting real clean whistle notes, belts and everything else although screaming does take some time to perfect
Nightwish nightwish nightwish
NIGHTWISH!!!!!!
Nightwish? Nightwish
Nightwish sucks.
For the fact that she can do the below, she is skilled. A lot of vocalists that are into metal are extremely skilled.. There are techniques in doing such. The harsh screeching and to do some acrobatic below combination are typical in metal or in extreme music. Her singing voice though is straight and typical. :)
I would love to hear both of you review their song teacher teacher.
Just want to say that small snippet of Andrews vocals in the beginning reminds me of the original “Bear” (Chris Hutka) from The Bunny The Bear
You trying to scream is one of the cutest thing ive ever seen in my entire life
psychic sidekick Lol shattaaaaaapppp 😂😂💙
Emi Pellegrino i pledge you my sword, m’lady. I promise on my faith that I will in the future be faithful to you my lady, never cause you harm and will observe my homage to you completely against all persons in good faith and without deceit. 😂😂😂
Do another jinjer song like Captain Clock but the live concert version and you'll see the comparison between studio and live.
Hi Emi , you would certainly dig Jinjer' tune Teacher Teacher from their current release Micro. Tatiana uses several vocal styles within.
Oh, I like his voice! I will check Allusions out.
Lisa Johnson HECK YEAH !
My dude rocking the Violent Gentlemen Hockey Club hat! I love it.
Definitely. Appreciate that this moves past OMGZ I can’t believe these sounds to actually intelligent comment on how it’s being created.
I expect a cover of this from you, Emi. Say next week?
JK
Andrew was a great guest. Have him on more of your analysis videos!
MrMopbucket Maybe I'll sing it and Andrew will scream ?!?!
Emi two songs by them you ought to react to and probably bring him along again)Jinjer - Teacher, Teacher, and Jinjer - Perennial. Also there are videos of live Jinjer performances. Resurrection Fest 2018 being one of them (is a 28 minute set though).
I'm from the UK and they are coming to download festival can't fucking wait to see them
Impressive insights right there!
Great
Jinjer - who is gonna be the one
jinjer - Captain clock
Female growlers/screamers aren't that rare in metal these days, but, Tatiana is just able to go SOOO low, it's rather extraordinary. She gets an even lower pitch than most male vocalists. She sounds like Randy Blythe, but, lower. And, let's not overlook the band! They are AWESOME players, especially, the rhythm section! Eugene, the bass player, is a friggin' BEAST, and, Vlad's drumming is out of this world. I have tickets to see them in Philly in October, and, I am super stoked to get to see them live.
That section towards the end, she belts out the line, "Searching for a hook to catch on and see their sun beam".
Anon Nymous you won’t be disappointed, saw them back in October last year and will go see them later this year.
@@derekcurrent6353 I missed them last year, because, I didn't even discover them until this January. I did see a pretty good video of their entire set from Kung Fu Necktie, in Philly last July, though, and, I'm sorry I missed that one!
Great reaction here. I am now subscribed
Great analysis. The band is from the Ukraine not Italy. You should watch one of their live performances to see her do that without the studio mixing.... cure the disbelievers
You only have to wait 50 minutes to get to the actual reaction! Amazing
React to Who Is Gonna Be The One live 💪
Yes yes yesssssah!!!
Fun seeing the lady introduce her guy friend to Jinjer for a change. ;)
As to years of practice, Tati practiced growls on her own for 5 years before encorporating growls in performances (she'd been singing in metal bands for 8 years by then).
Great video, new to the channel but look forward to seeing more. Definitely a great band choice too
That was a quality dab.
I was absolutely loving this, but then you didn't finish the video/song!!! OMFG
Neal IT WAS OVER !!! Lol
They went DERNERNERNER ! Which you hear the audio , we just turned tthe video off , and that was it , I swear !!
@@EmiPellegrinoMusic The last scream is a fry scream which I wanted to see you discuss, but anyway, thanks for the reaction, it was a good vid.
:D
It’s been a year since you’ve done Jinjer and you’re missing a lot, this was a just a warm up between her lows and melodies. Check out Some of her live concerts
