MY PROBLEM WITH SPY X FAMILY

There is so much potential in this series but it muddied up by lack of progression and you truly hate to see it. Spy x family could be so much more and that's my problem with it

Had the same feeling while watching, specially on season 2 airing right now, episodes feels like those half-fillers from Naruto, its like the author is doing the "every episode is not exactly progressing the story, but may be used for something in the future, so better not miss any of them". Shame it is so dragged out, which in this season where it has so much competition, it's enough to some dropped it for another show.

I suppose but as veteran anime fan, i am so used to this. and actually the plot is going forward faster than i expected.
Thing is, i come to each ep for one thing alone "wholesome family moments" SPY X FAMILY dose not disappointed, on top of that is the godtire music+animation it has going for it.
But when you really think about it, Spy X Family is actually just "anime discover sitcom" this is just a another animated sitcom so expecting plot progression is going in with the wrong expectations

Hard agree. It's almost heart breaking when a gag anime actually has an enjoyable setup and could be so much more than a jokes every episode before returning to status quo. I'd argue part of why OPM and Mob Psycho 100 are enjoyable is because they offer actual progression and impact versus something like Saiki K where it stays true to the gag episode to episode.

Its not going to take everything seriously, its a comedy and slice of life. That anime is really popular in japan. I enjoy the anime, but the community is really weird

Lowkey agree. I haven't read any of the manga, but I could totally see this being the direction of the show. Especially with the current hype around it for marketing purposes.

The fact thats its a jump series thats not animated by toei or periot means they have faith the series ...jump trying to hype it up and keep it going as long as possible

Yeah, a lot of problems with it, such as timeframe, age bracket, accuracy to depicted era... general common sense.... All hype, no substantial payoff.

@@BasedImouto Sadly it's an exceedingly high saving throw when the premise is actually interesting. Though that does mean that relatively boring premises tend to end up well-realized more often. And then they don't get the same viewership. It SHOCKED me when Mushoku Tensei not only was given a spectacular anime, but it ALSO went mainstream.

Hmm on the other hand, is it held back by slow plot progression or is it well above other humorous anime by actually having a plot and "funny things happen haha now laugh" that most other comedy shows are?
And I would say that it might lack plot progression, that is fair point, but I think it makes up for it somewhat with a character development and progression At least for Anya who is contently learning and Lloyd getting trough unfamiliar situation of having to act like a father. Yor had good moments in manga, but hard to tell if they will make it into the anime still this season.
