I remember almost being forced to watch that Clash of champions match on TBS because we could not afford the Wrestlemania 4 pay per view. I was a big WWF fan then and though NWA were second tier wrestlers because of how they looked compared to, Hogan, Savage, Wonderful... i recall being in aweful of Flair and Sting after watching that high quality match. In fact, every mstch on the card were to notch matches. When I finally got to watch the taped version of Wrestlemania 4, i noticed a substantial difference in the quality of matches between WWF and NWA. This is when I became a big Rick Flair fan. That Flair/Sting match was classic.

From 1:10:00 to 1:15:00 Flair is asked about Arn & Tully coming back and their pay and he as usual casually goes over the fact they made ⅓ & possibly less with a shrug. Flair only gets upset when Herd is involved and slighting his ego. How about insisting Tully & Arn be paid commiserate with their talent from 1985 onward Naitch?!?!

I appreciate he is pretty open and honest, it doesn’t really show him in a great light.
His political plays, his “it’s me or him” ultimatums… he did in fact walk over so many people and he’s actually just like so many have said.
I can’t say I’m disappointed because I’d always thought that was how he was, he portrays himself in the ring and that’s why he was so good at what he did, he wasn’t working, he just did what came naturally…. Sadly we also know about many other sickening things today and it’s such a shame that his legacy will be remembered for mostly those things…

Not giving Ricky Steamboat return matches for the NWA title sent the signal that Ricky was never gonna be the top guy . Same thing happened with Ron Garvin . I was not excited by Garvin winning the title but he was never allowed to prove he could be a viable Champ. Looking back that was a mistake . Another mistake was never putting the belt on Tully Blanchard who in my opinion was the best in ring performer and heat magnet in The Four Horsemen .

Flair did the same moves for years and was not anything exciting or athletic at all good charisma good mic skills looks sorta good but outside of that dude isn’t a goat I would put Bret and terry over him in the number one spot

    • @bigolebot

Bret Hart over flair? Bret wasn't good at all he was too limited. No mic skills, no charisma, didn't draw, too small.
