Theres a tribe in western Brazil called the Matis that actually hunt for these eels barehanded. Its a delicacy to them.

I got a little zap from 240v at work a couple years back and I totally get the "that feels kinda good reaction" The first like 5 seconds you're kinda in shock and then the next minute you're like that was pretty fuckin sweet

Volts not Amps. These animals produce electricity measured in voltage and only produce 1 amp of current

Volts alone doesn't really mean much. You need to know the amperage as well as the resistance of the conductor. Electric eels typically produce around 1 amp. Definitely enough to kill you at that voltage, under the right circumstances. Not likely though. Would definitely hurt.

only the front of the gloves are rubber and the backkside are still just cloth so the water that went through the gloves and electricity traveled through the water to your hand

For your knowledge it isn't the volts that cause most harm in a shock it's the amperage, those fish create massive electrical charges but the amperage is low so there isn't a huge risk of death, amperage is how many electrons are moving at once vs voltage is how many electrons there are essentially

There is some misinformation in this video when it comes to electricity. Its not the voltage that can kill you its the amperage(current). 600-800 volts is not that much voltage at all considering a static charge that your body normally generates is around 5000 volts. The measure of the amperage this fish can output is the real measure of its lethality
Yes and you draw amps they aren't delivered...in other words if they're was something drawing current from the eel and you became a conductor of that current it would hurt a lot more
...not that the eel could actually provide enough energy to power anything but you get my point...
Ya you get very small amperage draw off the skin of the fish because it's conducting the electricity through thousands of tiny pores
