Nice, except for the knee deep gumbo y'all were trying to move along that fairly steep bank on. Ever had one you couldn't turn, are really ever get to stop. We were fishing at the end of a dam on sandstone cliffs with shrimp, and the old southern favorite chicken livers. Each had several poles out to different depths, but fot the most part everyone else using bass rigs med heavy with 30 lb line, and being it was early 80's mono was the only choice. I have a old 2 piece surf rod 11' with good back none and a nice yip for launching 1 Oz weight long way. With good old spin cast reel from diawa. Forgive the spelling. Anyway we caught several in the 5 to 10 pound range channel cats, and the one blue about 8 lbs over several hours that night, and it was around midnight just as the moon came over the dam shining across the flat water. And the surf rod started slowly bending, then it stopped and stood back up. You could actually see the side to side motion of the fish swimming away, but it was just slowly pulling drag off the big reel. I pulled on that fish for 30 minutes and best I could do was keep it from spooling me, but it never changed direction it stayed going deeper the whole time. When it hit the knot where I'd tied the good line to the filler line. I finally just cranked the drag down as tightly as I could twist the handle Leaned back and pulled as hard as I could, cause once the know cleared the spool it was over, and sure enough with a few big head shakes, and all of a sudden it ripped line off the reel faster than I could crank the handle. I had just enough line left to hang off the end of the pole It was obvious where the lune had came apart at the knot. Biggest fresh water fish I've ever felt on the end of a fishing pole, and I have two over 50 lbs I've caught on heavy bass rods fishing at night for big bass in NE Texas, but they didn't pull anything like that.

Simple tips for big catfish: Find areas known for big catfish Use preffered forage where they can find it. Use heavier gear than you think you'll ever need.
Quick question Spencer I'm getting a setup for some cats in my area. We don't have giants by any means around here biggest probably being around 30lbs in heavy current below a damn. But should I get a a 300 or 400 alijoz on a meduim heavy rod whisker seeker rod?
The 300 would be just fine and more fun to fight the fish, but it doesn't have a clicker. If you want a clicker, you gotta get the 400. You should tag piscifun in a post requesting a clicker on the 300. I've been trying to talk them into it.
Thank you Spencer!.. Simple tips for big catfish:
Find areas known for big catfish
Use preffered forage where they can find it.
Use heavier gear than you think you'll ever need.
Definitely solid advice.
I so freaking hate muddy rivers, had that problem a lot in Michigan, quick question is do you buy or catch your Yella bellies? Great video brother
Yeah, I'd much rather camp on sand, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do sometimes. I catch my bullheads
@RiverCertified awesome man appreciate it an ill definitely make a post an tag them. Love the videos man keep up the hard work .
What reels do you use I fish the TN river near Pickwick dam
Piscifun Allijoz 400s. They should be linked in the description. Thanks for watching.
Thank you Spencer!.. I'm recently unemployed, since June 21 (big cooperation crap) *Bonus* I have alot more fishing time, been hitting some major spillways on both sides of the state line (live in KCK/MO) also doing alot of bank river fishing.. Mostly been donating alot of big hooks & large sinkers.. lone bank fisher w/o alot of great bank access.. these areas are tough sledding at best.. so thank you for keeping me inspired with this small river video.. you are the most relatable TH-cam fisherman on the webs.. bout to hit it again.. #Hope I catch a Giant!
Hope you find a replacement soon. I know that would bother me a ton. Glad you're staying positive though. I know there's some absolute giants in your rivers. Hope you can find one before you gotta start clocking in again.
you need to watch more fisherman
What type of water do you catch the bullheads in
Usually ponds
