This hit home. I’m one of the younger ones in my family, and when I was a kid, I had a big loving family. Sadly, everyone except my mother has passed on. Now I only have her and my daughter. I’m going to make sure to call my mom tonight to let her know that I love her and appreciate everything she has done. My daughter is getting an extra big hug when I pick her up from school this afternoon. Thank you, James. All my best!
I was choked. I've heard the song hundreds of times and I don't know why it took me as it did yesterday, but I thought it was worth sharing. Reading your comment Kevin, makes me glad I shared it. Thanks for commenting.
@@JamesMurphyYT I’m glad you shared it too! Additionally, I think you’re right about us Americans not hearing Max Bygraves. He was new to me until today, but I’m listening to his “Tulips in Amsterdam” album now.
A great reminder. Sadly my parents and all my aunts and uncles are no longer here, however, I make a point to keep in touch with my cousins. I tell my children every day that I love them. I don’t know that singer but I will look him up. Thank you for your thoughts. 😊
Thanks, Dian. I only have one uncle and one aunt left and I keep in touch with them both. We don't see my cousins as much as I'd like as we're so spread out these days. As for Max Bygraves...he was such a big star here when I was young and as much as my parents loved him, I've found that now, I do too.
Thanks Deb. I have an uncle who'll be 92 at the end of the month and an aunt who's 86 left. We had a big family back in the day and I have moment when I miss them all. Have a good week.
This is such great advice, James! A much-needed reminder. None of us are promised tomorrow. Let’s love those in our lives and appreciate them while we can. God bless y’all! 😇💙 Meline
I'm 67 and only have one uncle left. I'm happy to say we speak a couple times a week. He never had children so he keeps up with me. I treasure those phone calls.
My aunt is 86 and we speak fairly regularly. She's my Dad's youngest sister and she's a character and regales me with the stories of them growing up. I've learned more about my family from her than anyone else. Thanks for commenting and watching as always.
Excellent video James, I really don’t have any family left but I’m glad I did tell them how I felt about them before they passed.❤️ Hope you have a great week!
Thank you. I missed out on it with some of them, but I still phone the ones that are left and let them know. The one that hurts the most is my Dad. I did a video earlier in the year about my relationship with him. I think it was before you found me.
Different days when we were kids. Saying I love you, especially from a bloke was seen as being a bit soft or if you like, somewhat queer. Can't ever remember my dad telling me that. But I know he did cause he was always there in a flash when I needed him. It was just a different generation. I tell my wife and kids every day that I love them. It's more socially okay to do that. We've all come a long way since the days of the stiff upper lip.
I grew up listening to him as Mum and Dad had his records. I now have them and even give SingalongaMax a spin every now and again. Thanks for watching Angela
Awe... how sweet...and sad a little bit. And well-said considering the way people can be so mean these days. Hey surely you've seen the Christmas video 'A Child's Christmas in Wales"? (Dylan Thomas) That's what I'm thinking of as you talk about family.
Give a good listen to Thomas. I am an Adult Orphan: No family, no support group. Time is over for so many: too short and wars and pandemics and terrorism is too prevalent to take a chance. Holidays are coming. Surprise those you love and remember them. Hand write them a real Holiday card with a short note of a memory through the mail. Sentimental tears are the best.
I had a couple of Christmases on my own in 2010 and 2011 and I know how much I missed my family. When my marriage broke up one of my sons stopped talking to me for almost two years and I can remember how that felt. Luckily, I'm in a better place these days. You are right about sentimental tears, I still get them even now. Thanks for your comment.
Oh sure, get me teary eyed. It seems like back in the day family and friends were a whole lot closer than they are now. I knew so many more people then than I do now. We always had family reunions. Its been so long, I couldn't even tell you when the last one was. It so sad to because those were great times; not perfect, but great times. And while we may never have told them that we loved them, and for that matter, they may never have told us, I think we showed it and in many ways displayed our joy and affection for each other that deep down we just new it. 🫶
Thanks for commenting ting Tyler. Back in 2015, we had a family reunion with Uncles Aunts cousins etc. The only one missing on my Dad's side was my Das, as he passed in 1994. His 4 sisters and brother were there. Now there's only one sister and one brother left. As old as I am, there are times when I wish I was young and they were all still here. My cousins were my first friends and we used to see each other all the time. Now, we're so spread out we rarely see each other. That song made.me feel so nostalgic.

I loved that song as a child...still do.
Wise words.
