    This was so timely for me. Hahaaaa! I could not sleep last night because an incident from some years ago kept playing in my mind. A plan fell though, words not spoken, doubt about a friendship… I ask myself why is this coming up when I’m trying to sleep? Finally in the wee hours I fell asleep. Now I am awake and watching your video thinking how do I move from psychological time and thoughts into the present (sleep time)? Why does the brain do this? I’m relaxed snd ready to sleep and the brain says “Oh no… now we are going to review every problem, every friendship, every event in your life including conversations that may or may not have happened! Sleep? Oh, not for you, my friend! I’m here to entertain you!”

    • @AlikiReddy
      @AlikiReddy  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      LOL, I love the dialogue. Yes, I think many of us are familiar with that voice - especially around 3 in the morning… 🙄
      Your question is actually part of the problem which I have tried to expose in this video. Rather than asking, “How do I move from psychological time and thoughts into the present?” realise that presence is your natural state and that you keep thinking your way out of it.
      This provides a very different perspective of the situation because now you don’t have to try to do anything. You simply need to realise what you’re doing that’s taking you away.
      Personally, I find that taking deep, conscious breaths always brings me back to presence. Of course, there may be many thoughts bothering your peace and sleep, but just keep coming back. 💜

    ❤❤❤👍👍👍💯 Hi Ailiki, I liked your video. Good observations and reminders. I agree that being trapped in psychological time is a big problem and a major cause of suffering. We dont value or appreciate the present moment enough. We judge it to be uninteresting, boring, unfulfilling, dissappointing and unsatisfying, and so we stop paying attention to it. We judge the now to be one problem after another, one hassel after another and one mistake after another, and we get into the habit of escaping from the present moment, by getting carried away by trains of thought that travel through psychological time. For people who are not successful, and not happy in life, its harder to value the present moment and to stay present for it, because they have so many problems to worry about.

    Hi, thank you for your wonderful advise. My wife and i have a 30 year old son whom still lives with us. He was discharged from the Air Force four years ago with a mental illness, schizophrenia. Since his diagnosis it has been a roller coaster ride to say the least. Our son will not take medications and trying to communicate with him is very difficult. We are totally worn out worrying about him on a moment by moment basis. Sometime i feel like why am i here? I dont want to be here at times, just want to get through life as fast as possible. I have been watching video after video trying to figure out how to reach a calming place and find peace for my wife and i. Any suggestions?

    • @AlikiReddy
      @AlikiReddy  13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you for sharing your story, Jack. My heart goes out to your family. ♥️
      Firstly, I would say that it’s important to accept the situation as it is. This may sound like a hard pill to swallow, but the energy of resistance makes everything worse. You don’t have to like or agree with what’s happening, but if you can just be okay with it and take a rest from fighting with it, that’s a good place to start. Notice all the tension in your being from trying to push away the present reality and let yourself breathe more deeply into it, realising that, in order to move on and for things to change, you must start where you are.
      Secondly, it would be good if your son would take medication as he has a serious mental condition, but that is beyond your control it seems. Perhaps, as you relax through letting go of the inner tension and resistance, you will find that a different energy emerges. When you’re not in your reasoning, negative, repetitive mind all the time, there will be some space in your being. This is where you will find the wisdom and peace you long for. Your son may also notice a change in your energy and respond to it. Love and understanding speak to us louder than frustration and fearful demands.
      Thirdly, watch the videos you find helpful but don’t let them be a substitute for the voice of wisdom within you. Rather, let them guide you into your own answers and what feels right in the moment. Be kind, compassionate and patient with yourself. That means you accept yourself just as you are, with all your worries, doubts and fears. Notice how you bring all the heaviness and stress of the last few years into every new day with you and project a hopeless and exhausting future onto it. Notice deeply and breathe fresh life into this new day. Start again today. 🙏🏻
