I love chef Mickey! Tip: book at the end of breakfast and they’ll start switching out to lunch, so you can get some of both meals!

As a (nearly) 53 year old divorced dude, I'm planning to go to WDW for my birthday. I don't remember the exact Walt quote but I think it was something like experiencing the child inside us. That being said, you might say that my upcoming trip (including an All-Star resorts stay and a couple of dining reservations inside the parks) is more like a reconnaissance for future WDW trips. The Contemporary, and Chef Mickey's seem like bucket list type experiences. Definitely possible for future trips.

Personally…I love Chef Mickeys 😂 But I’ll be honest, If you don’t need the characters just go to the cafeteria in one of the All-Star resorts. I personally love it , particularly in the beginning of a trip because it help throw that Disney Magic right at you. All you can eat is nice too. But if you have more than a few people it can get pricey. Great for the kids🙌🏼 Also , if you are planning a trip, you may want to do this before Magic Kingdom because it is right next to that Park.

AJ, we just ate at Chef Mickeys on Wednesday. It was great. We like breakfast the best. I thought it was better than when we ate there before the pandemic. Great choices for the food. Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald came to our table. When our picture was made Minnie was in the picture with us. My grandchildren and great granddaughters loved it. We got there at 8:20 and were seated quickly. It was totally worth it for us.

It’s a tradition now that every time we go to Orlando we go to Chef Mickeys for breakfast on our second day. Great way to bring the Disney magic into our trip early in. Even if we don’t go to any of the parks on our trip, we still hit up Chef Mickeys for a little Disney fix.
Sure it’s a little pricey for what you get, but their breakfast is great and get to see the characters a few times while you are there. Plus get to see the Disney contemporary resort which is beautiful

Both Mickey and Minnie take turns being the “Desert after the meal”. I was there this past Monday and mickey was the one roaming around with the other characters while Minnie was the one taking pictures with guests after they stamp your receipt. Im not sure if they have a schedule of who does what each day.

We just went to chef Mickey’s three weeks ago. It was our 2 kids first time and they loved it. We were in Disney just for the weekend before we left on a Disney cruise so we only had one day at Magic Kingdom. I was able to get a 12:05 seating and it worked out perfect. Great way to take a break see the characters and just relax before heading back to Magic Kingdom. I would recommend Chef Mickey’s for anyone with kids . Food was good and characters were great! Definitely a one and done for us but so glad we did it once. I think everyone needs to go once and experience a fun character meal. 😊

  • @michaelcertain415

Great video! We were just there 2 weeks ago. The food is ok. It wasn't memorable, but it wasn't bad either. The beef on the carving station was very good. This isn't a foodie experience. However, the shear joy on my granddaughter's face when just hours after arriving at WDW for the first time she got to meet the fab 5 made it worth every penny and more. It was a fantastic way to start the trip!
I was disappointed that the napkin waving doesn't happen during dinner any longer, at least that's what we were told by a CM. Having to stand in line to meet Mickey afterward took something away from it as well. Truth be told, you can get better meet and greet experiences in the park than at Chef Mickey's. The characters in the park seem to spend more time with the kids than in the character meals.

It’s the atmosphere, not the food, at Chef Mickey’s that makes it great. The breakfast isn’t good at Ohana, but the atmosphere with Stitch at the Poly will keep me coming back. And I’d return to Chef Mickey’s. (I’m glad they stopped the napkin twirling 😂)

We went there twice two weeks ago! We were able to grab a last minute walk in late dinner. The kids loved it and the dinner was higher quality for a buffet with lots of options. CM were great with checking in with us to make sure we got to see all the characters. The wait to see Mickey was only a few minutes. We had reserved a breakfast later in the week, breakfast was definitely busier which meant a little less time with the characters and busier buffet. The wait time to see Minnie was longer but it was a hotel day so we weren’t in a rush. I’d definitely prefer the food quality here vs the quick dining experience. The characters danced but didn’t partake in the napkin waving!

Use the tip in the video about booking more than 60 days out if you are staying on property. If you are staying a week just book for day 3-7 of your trip and unless you always go during the heaviest of the heavy times, you should get a one. Also make sure you start checking at 5:30 am, in case they open the booking early.

My family and I ate at the Anaheim, CA. Disneyland at one of the in park restaurants, back in the ‘80s. One of the characters came up to our table and accidentally knocked over my older brother’s drink, which by then was mostly melted ice.
Unfortunately it landed in his lap, and my older sister said to our older brother “You know what that looks like, yeah?” as she pointed to the wet spot on the front of his pants. The character covered the eyes and made a motion simulating laughters (or possibly horror, I’m not sure) while the rest of us laughed as my older brother scowled and muttered “Nice going!” to the character, who scurried away (I forgot which character).

    • @TrackerRoo

If you go to the Photopass center you can buy individual ones. However after you leave Disney property at the end of your trip that ship will have sailed. If you want all your photos buy the photopass service prior to your visit. If you do it during it wont activate retroactively so all the pictures you had prior you wont get included and it costs more to get the full package while on property.

We were not at all impressed with Chef Mickey’s. It was VERY loud, like eating in a warehouse. The food was not great and our server was not particularly personable (I would even go so far as to call him rude a couple of times). Our experience with character meals has been that breakfast is typically better and our favorites have been Ohana, Topolino’s, and Trattoria al Forno. Planning to try Garden Grill in September.

Most dining at WDW, when judging meals by quality and price, is not worth it. Adding characters to food that is meh is not good way to spend your money.

I could type up multiple paragraphs on the topic of Chef Mickey's....but I will keep it short and simple:
We love DisneyWorld, and outside of COVID, have gone at least once every year for the past 9 years). We love the food!
However, we have eaten at Chef Mickey's twice (once in like 2017 with the buffet, and once in 2022 with the family-style service).....and they were the 2 worst meals we have ever had at WDW.
If I have any say in it, our family will never set foot in Chef Mickey's again!!

We were just there yesterday. The food was good, but the characters interactions were not very good. We didn't see the first character until after most of us were on our 2nd and he didn't see the 2nd character until we actually paid the bill. When the characters were at the table, they were there for about 2 minutes with very little interactions with my 5 and 3 year old. We left before we had a chance to see the last 2 characters. Minnie mouse replaced Mickey at the photo spot. She was great with my daughters and the photos that were taken turned out great.
We have had much better experiences at the garden grill and Hollywood and Vine in the past. Probably won't go back.

We went in March. Very disappointed. Food was disappointing for Disney dining. And we only saw Minnie Mouse in one hour being there. We mentioned the issue that all other characters stayed in the area they started, the cast members did walk us to Pluto (our kid’s favorite), but we felt rude and judged by other families still seated. Absolutely swore off Chef Mickeys. Much prefer Garden Grill.

I loved the experience. The staff makes you feel important, and the food is definitely better than I expected from a buffet. I am going again.
Please note: reservations are tricky but not impossible for a reservation a few days away. Keep refreshing. The tricky part is if you select a # of people in your party, it may be unavailable for that time or date, however if you modify the # in your party it suddenly becomes available but does not match your group size. I questioned this, and a cast member said it is due to table size. If I select a lesser headcount, I should get first come, first gets, but that is not the case.
Example: I had a party of 3, nothing available. I added 5 and a time to reserve a table popped up. Not fair, and this needs to change.
Overall the experience and food is worth the $$$$

No, no, no, they have a pre-made plate for kids. Went with 4 grandkids, only thing they liked in the plate was Mac & cheese, payed over $300. NOT WORTH IT!!! And when one of the kids tried to get close for a picture Goofy ran away.
