      It seems that fir very fast tempo using 2 hands on hit hat is better. I think Stephen Morris from Joy Division/ New Order like to play like this ( like the live on tv for she lost control)

      I’ve been playing the guitar all my life, never even tried the drums. My youngest daughter has had a want to play the drums and recently, (the last year) I’ve been encouraging it more than ever. For Christmas I bought her an electronic set so she can play at her moms house without driving anyone crazy. She tinkered around a bit but without any real guidance she just wasn’t developing any skills. Learning from your videos gives me the ability to teach her a little bit and suddenly she’s jamming!
      Thanks friend, not only am I enjoying playing the drums but I also get to enjoy teaching and spending fun time together with my girl.
      It’s really amazing to see her getting better and running with what she’s learned.

    I'm using an Octapad with several pads and cymbals in an open-handed configuration. My Hihat is on the right, below the Ride. The 16th notes are from hell. I have to play them with my right hand, I can barely play at 80bmp, and I consider adding a second Hihat right next to the snare. Any advice for playing in an open-handed configuration? I got a Roland D20 right below the Octapad in the middle, making the whole rack look like the bridge of the Enterprise, and frankly, the setup is cool and a lot of fun. It's just that the 16th and fast snare fills are killing me.

    • @ThatSwedishDrummer
      @ThatSwedishDrummer  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question! I've only played open handed (with an auxiliary hi-hat on my right side) a few times, but I'd still recommend to just focus on practicing the 16th notes slowly and gradually increase the speed.
      I'm always in favor of using Moeller-technique when playing fast one-handed stuff, so start practicing Moeller strokes!

    when switching from 8th notes to 16th notes do you count in your head 1 and 2 and 3 and 4, then switch to 1 e & a 2 e & a 3 e & a 4 for the 16ths or are you always counting the latter?

    • @ThatSwedishDrummer
      @ThatSwedishDrummer  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I did when I started, now it just comes "naturally" and I don't need to count anymore. But depending on the subdivision of what I'm playing - I "feel" or count another subdivision in my head to help me keep time better.
