    It would be so helpful if you can include some before/after photo in these videos. I think alot of people are unrealistic with their expectation when skincare reviews on over the counter actives are so positive. Seems no matter how ‘powerful’ they are to fade the hyperpigmentation but it can never completely remove them without cosmetic procedures or prescription strength actives.

  • @trendorina
    @trendorina 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I love tranexamic acid. I think it's one of the best actives out there for troubled skin. It helps with hiperpigmentation. And it also stimulates ceramide syntesis on the skin. Works great pared with niacinamide. It's great for pos inflammatory hyperpigmentation, melasma, sensitive or irritated skin. It also can help with dehydration on long term use. Because ceramides are the good oils our skin produce to reduce TEWL.

    My dad was a swim coach growing up so I got way too much sun. I’ve been using TCA peels for my sun spots and fine lines and it was working great for a long time and then I got to the stubborn ones. I started with Heliocare supplements which did nothing for the dark quarter size spot on my left jawline. I started with azelaic acid (which seemed to help the milia I have around my lips but that dark quarter remained). Finally I was buying the retinol for the milia around my eyes and thought WTH I’ll try tranexamic acid too. In TWO freaking weeks that quarter was dime sized and now it’s even smaller and almost gone! So dramatic. I’ve only been using it once a day before bed. Tomorrow I start in the am! To date it’s been the most dramatic active I’ve used. And it was your videos on it. Thanks for these updates.

    I have used Superdrug Me+ tranexamic acid and also the Inkey list tranexamic which has extra actives. I have to say the one from Superdrug works better and applies into my routine easier. Being a pharmacist I'm very used to seeing it in tablet form - usually for heavy periods, and also as injection for hemorrhagic (bleeding) strokes (rather than the clot). I've never seen an NHS dermatologists prescribed it for melasma but I have heard of it being used in private clinics.

    For me 2% alpha arbutin did not do much… i couldnt see the difference with my bare eyes. i thought it would but Niacinamide 4% worked muchhhh better and quicker. Since its also anti inflammatory it was also healing my skin faster and making it not red at all. Vitamin c 15 % also worked faster…
    I also love my adapalene and mandelic acid by the ordinary for hyperpigmentation.. and sunscreen of course. Sunscreen reduced my dark spots in one month compared with the 4 months wait of tyrosinase inhibitors… it’s amazing! And my sunscreen also contain nice ingredients for inflammation and lightening the skin. I love Isntree hyaluronic acid watery sun gel and beauty of joseon matte sun stick. I have combination to oily skin.
    So if someone is just starting out i would not personally recommend tyrosinase inhibitors. I would just tell them to wear sunscreen every 3-4 hours. Of course if you do all these and you also use tyrosinase inhibitors its even better! ❤

It does say it has Tranexamic acid in it and they promote the product with black/ dark skinned models so I’m assuming it will be ok for my south Asian skin tone. I wish they would use Mandelic acid instead of glycolic acid. But as it’s there I’ll patch test and maybe use in evenings to prevent a reaction. And use every other night. I had so many products with glycolic but noticed it was very drying to the skin and seems to get through skin barrier. I only use glycolic on body now after realising it’s not good long term. Since by definition rosacea IS a damaged skin barrier, it made sense..lol.. All I can say is that my skin is 1,000 times better now than it was. Was it the tret? tranexamic acid? The 3% Niacinamide they also added? I couldn't say 🤷🏻‍♀️, but all I know is that the change in my skin has been dramatic. People at work constantly ask what I've done.
