Sheesh. There is not one single mechanic I’ve found on TH-cam doing a Taurus water pump that was even slightly happy about it…. My bill is about to be huge ☹️
Half of all the timing chain jobs I’ve done on fords over the past ten years have been outsourced jobs from a local ford dealership because their techs won’t do them…
How many hours u think this job takes for an Average wrench turner? I’ve done some timing chain jobs but never on this engine and I’m trying to get an idea what I’m getting into
Books for 10 hrs, I would say 15-20 for a competent garage jockey with a good tool collection but the cam lock tools are a must, can be had online but buy good ones.
Any idea if the twin turbo 3.5’s economists have the same weak water pumps leading to catastrophic failures? I think the SHO with the 365 horses looks like a fun car!
I miss the old Vulcan 3.0. Lacks the power and MPG of the 3.5 but that old classic was near indestructible. Same goes for the 4.0 OHV, before Ford did the SOHC hack job of front *AND* rear timing chains. 🙄
There is an inexpensive 11 MKX for sale, looks great. I did research on it. After all the WP videos now popping up, definitely a pass. 130K, it is sure ripe for one. I could probably do it but not worth my time. Now I see it could be a repeat repair.
In my research I've heard that people noticed a slight change in the way their motor felt or sounds under load. As the bearing seal fails sometimes it will dilute the oil with coolant. The inside of the motor might seize and the heat will run away as the coolant gets pumped into the motor.
As a female, I am entertaining the idea of doing this shxt myself bcus I just don’t see logic paying 5k total on such a bill. It has 120k miles…parts plus a manual and my first time attempt. No mechanical experience but Im thinking take my time, keep ordering, have good tools and learn. 😂😂😂
@@felixsmizes this is not the job to start on, I was getting a lot of these because the ford dealership was refusing them…they sent their “head tech” to me for training and the guy walked out after 30 minutes saying “I don’t want to do this so I don’t want to learn how to do this”.
@ if you’re doing chains without sprockets you can get away with it, pulling off those sprockets is a big deal, then they have to be torqued with new bolts
@@felixsmizes I can guarantee that it will be a learning experience, it can be done without opening the AC system but it makes the already difficult job of reinstalling the front cover a lot harder.
The new yellow collant is supposed to be easier on the seals.

For these big jobs I take my time and never beat the clock, speed invites mistakes and there are no small mistakes with these things.
@@bulldogsautomotiveadventur4387 couldn’t you just mark the timing chain at a few points with a white marker and just put it back on that way?
You could try, Check Engine Chuck on Tik Tok just did one where the guy tried that…wiped out the valves because it jumped.
@@bulldogsautomotiveadventur4387 I don't understand why if it was put back the way it was?
Is this guy a mechanic or a winery behiney
A he's a clown...
He messed the car up so they'll come back to hem...

I have to replace them in the trucks about 100-150,000mi
Same

I would appreciate it and other people would appreciate it if you would show the whole thing how to take it out thank you
Wow . , I am wondering how much this job possibly cost?
Friend of mine is asking me to do it and I already have bed fillings about it😅
@@thebigbools book time is like 9 hours

What happens when it fails while your driving? Does it bend valves and ruin the engine?
It turns into a boat anchor, obliterates all the valves and maybe some of the followers.

Too much talk not enough show
how many miles were on this when it failed?
Around 200,000mi
My 2015 Turus failed at 180k

2014 185K miles $3500 quote to fix by dealership. $3400 by Christian brothers
Depending on what we replace it’d be $1500-$2500
