**UPDATE September 2024** This is still our most used mini rgb light even after 3 years. Thay includes normal video work, camping, night light use, and even attaching it to drones (It is magnet free, unlike our dearly departed Apurture MC, which suffered a high speed RUD). Still a great light for us. I've heard of a few leople have ossues with dials sticking, but that's about it. its just useful, and powerful. The MC is still probably my favorite alternative if you want magnetic. Thanks @livinginoklahomacityofficial for reminding us about this video. Cheers! - Cliff
Hey, welcome! No, if you are looking for background lighting you would need at least 2 500+ bulb led panels (GVM is a good budget brand for these). For our new videos we use 3 of the Nanlight pavo tube 30 (Version 1). While a small light like this can cover a large area, it's not powerful enough to do anything other than provide a small accent light.
They both have their uses. This light is brighter has better battery life and has the stand that is incredibly useful for small product shoots/ accent lights. But, the Aputure MC is my goto when I'm wanting a magnetic or extra compact light. Great for kitchen/car scenes and also works well for products. I honestly use them about the same amount, but for slightly different purposes.
I must have just missed the cut off. I tried today (and someone commented they tried 4 days ago) and it's not working. I wanted to pick up 4 of these lights. :(
Yes, we use it to as an accent light for part of our new YT background. The folding/tilting design has made it my go to light when I need something small and quick.
@@JamesTateWilson Glad to hear it worked. I ordered five of them and they all arrived quickly. They arrived before the company even sent me the tracking info.
For the love of God, how do you use this thing?? Lol I hate when I pick up a piece of gear, and can't find a single existing tutorial on the internet ...
@@livinginoklahomacityofficial 🤣 It takes a bit to get used to, but to be completely honest, this is probably the light we use the most out of any of our small RGB setups. Sadly, I still don't know enough about it to make a tutorial 😆
@CliffKajun ahhh well that's helpful to know it has an app! Haha I didn't realize that. Im trying to use 2 of these + an RGB LED color light strip to accent my channels brand colors in the back of my new setup I'm building. I know the hex codes of the colors, and I can find the RGB conversion charts, but I have no idea how that translates to these numbers on the device. I guess a challenge will also be the color of the wall that I'm shooting against. A little trial and error I guess!
@@livinginoklahomacityofficial I honestly don't even know if it has an app, just a guess. I hate anything that makes me pull out my phone and get distracted, so I rarely use app controls tbh 😆. Yeah, don't trust codes on cheap lights. Trial and error is where it's at. Side note: I pinned a comment thanks to you. I forgot how long I've been using this lol.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll change the thumbnail. It looks like they lowered the price to $55.99 from $70 now that the code doesn't work. So essentially you are paying $7 more than it would have been. I'll send them an email. 🤘
I'm not sure if it still applies in 2021, but if you are new to Adobe, you can sign up for the 7 day free trial, then let it expire. Within about 1 week, they will email you a 50% discount during your first year. (Again, this may not work anymore). Of course there are student options for about 60% off, but that has always been the case. Best of luck🤘

Awesome name and Great video.
I’ll certainly be checking out more of your content.
Haha thanks, we are getting ready to change our channel name to something more awesome (Cliff&Kajun)😅
See you around🤘
Great work. ..Does it work while charging?
Think im going to go with a pair of these as closet office lights
We still have ours and use it often for a utility light. It's great for the price.
Just picked one up. Excited!
Very nice! It is a fantastic light for the price. 🤘🏼
@@CliffKajun thanks for the code man!
Enjoyed the review!
Just got mine today and the set dial is stuck and won't turn. Very disappointed in this light. Beware.
Hi.
New viewer here.
Would this be strong enough to cover an entire wall in a small to medium sized bedroom?

I really like this light but any comparison to the Aputure MC?

@@CliffKajun Thanks, I ended up ordering five of these. I was thinking of putting some magnets on them, I might test it out with one of them.
Just used the code. Thank you! Excited to try it out.
Hope you enjoy it! 🤘

Is there a good portable option to pair with this as a key light for product photography?
The coupon code isn't working anymore 😔
I think it ran out on January 31st. I will update the description. Thanks🙏🏼
The discount code is no longer working :(
I just saw that as well.
I think it ran out at the end of January. I will update the description. Thank you
Try discount code “student15” (without the quotes)

@CliffKajun well that's a good sign, because these are $80 now and I just bought 2, so your endorsement helps validate my purchase haha.
The coupon code expired on January31st. It is still a great light for the price. We use ours often🤘
Bummer was excited. Just found out about the light.
Can it stay on one of the rgb colors?
Yes, you can set it to any color and leave it or use fx. 🤘
