I am 61 and if "this is music" I'm going to consider elective surgery to have my ears removed. Syrupy-sweet, maudlin, leaden, cringey. This melody is great... until you add these lyrics.
This is a timeless peace of Musik, and Marty with his buttery smooth voice gives a heartbreaking rendition of it. No one could have done better imho.
Such an amazingly talented man, who died way too young. RIP, Marty.

Perhaps the best arrangement I have heard of this classic song; Marty Robbins's voice is serviceable in this number and the timbre of his voice is pleasing. The sentiment and interpretation of the song is just right. It is low-key and not over-the-top. I like the understated quality of this version because one is sometimes tempted to do too much with this great song. Love is Blue, indeed.
But to my mind Dmitri Ribero-Ferreira sings it more tenderly!

The album that this is from is Marty at his very best, singing songs like 'That Old Feeling', 'You Made Me Love You', 'As Time Goes By' and 'Am I That Easy To Forget.' It's quite superb and goes a long way to proving that he was the very best vocalist to hit Nashville.
I remember this song won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1963 or 1964 (or circa that period), sung by a French female singer. It is a beautiful song which is difficult to forget. I was probably about 8 or 9 years old ...
