Das kann ich gut verstehen. Er war es wert, gesehen zu werden, denn außer seiner wunderbaren Stimme, war er ein sehr liebenswürdiger Mann, mit einwandfreien Manieren .
This comment is important, IMO. Please heed this wise & nice lady's words. It is worth taking a few hours out of a busy and hectic day in your life to see some of your "heroes" or an "icon" etc. I certainly have a few artist I missed out on, too. For my Dad, it is Sinatra. For my Mom, John Denver. My Brother, (Nirvana?), My Sister, The Cranberries, and for me, jeez, I actually have taken good heed of similar advice and have seen so many of my important ones, but I would also say John Denver for me. My mom and I connected over him. She always listened to him from before I was born, and through up until October 12, 1997, if my memory serves me. Then there was a tragic feel. The intense love is still there for his songs, but that was a sad rough loss of a good fella for us and everyone around the world. Also this applies to stand-up comics. There are still a few of the greats out there, but many like Norm MacDonald and Gilbert Gottfried have passed. I saw Normy once. Very meaningful. To quote a Norm reference that is in a comedic bit regarding the leader of a certain Central European Nation/Empire that was defeated in 12 years. Norm was pretending to not know that mustached arse-wipe had already died. When told that the man was deceased, Norm stated, "Hmm. I didn't even know he was sick!" But yea we saw him at the end as he had been battling a decade of cancer without telling us fans (legit move by him - very Normy), and neither me nor my brother "knew he was sick". Norm was such a good comedian that I believe that whole joke was written in anticipation of the reaction of his fans hearing that he had passed. It is some incredibly multi-layered, years-long planned joke for us, or he was just doing it Normy-style, and that is one of the things that made me like him so much. And Gilbert is a G-d. I loved that man. When he would sit in for Robin's news, just wow, comedy heaven. PERRY ROCKS!

I used to love listening to this song with my grandpa. Now he's gone, it gives me a sense on nostalgia, and along with it, a sense that I have lost an important part of my life. This song still brings back memories. Hope to see my grandpa again, on the other side, one day.
I have a similar story. My Grandad was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme (terminal brain cancer) and I asked him what his favourite songs were while in the nursing home. This song and Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White by Pat Boone were the songs he chose. His funeral was yesterday. I hope you and your grandpa see each other once more one day.
I know what you mean. I was born in the early 60s, so I was brought up with this music. Perry was my favourite singer, although mum and dad liked Bing better!

He died in his sleep at his home, 6 days short of his 89th birthday. He began his career in 1932 and ended it in 1997. My late mom's favorite song, she told me that she always played this song when I was a baby. I guess that's why I always loved it once I heard the whistle at the beginning, rest in peace mom and thank you for everything and for giving me great taste in music. ❤
My parents played Perry Como records all the time, but I never heard this song until I was shopping at Kroger about five years ago. I just stopped in my tracks as I was stunned how beautiful and happy this song is. Of course, Perry Como's melodic voice made it even more stirring. I just lost Mom this year at age 97 and it made me think fondly again of her. She was a huge Beatles fan just like I am. Great music is so amazing!
This song is so fun and happy. I love it. Sounds like a song that would play in a movie when two people are slowing falling in love and all the dates they go on and the time they spend together.

This guy I learned to admire very early in my life. His voice was indeed magic. At 6 or 7 yrs. Old I was listening to a lot of singers other than the black gospel sounds or r and b sounds. My step aunt worked for Jews and she obtained a lot of different singers. I was lucky to have a vast library before I was 10 yrs old. I enjoyed big band music along with Perry. [Intro]
Magic moments
When two hearts are caring
Magic moments
Memories we've been sharing
[Verse 1]
I'll never forget the moment
We kissed the night of the hayride
The way that we hugged to try to keep warm
While taking a sleigh ride
[Chorus]
Magic moments
Memories we've been sharing
Magic moments
When two hearts are caring
Time can't erase the memory of
These magic moments filled with love
[Verse 2]
The telephone call
That tied up the line for hours and hours
The Saturday dance I got up the nerve
To send you some flowers
[Chorus]
[Verse 3]
The way that we cheered
Whenever our team was scoring a touch down
The time that the floor fell out of my car
When I put the clutch down
[Verse 4]
The penny arcade, the games that we played
The fun and the prizes
The Halloween hop when everyone came
In funny disguises
Magic moments
Filled with love
