    This video has been very informative. Getting to sleep and staying asleep is never easy for me. I'm tired all of the time and I must look like I'm a zombie or something. When I'm out at stores the clerks continually come up and ask if I'm okay or do I need help. I'm just standing there lost in thought and trying to think. I'm not stupid and it just makes me ticked off. I just soldier on. Thanks for the video and have a nice day.

    I got more info from this video than all the hours and hours of videos I watched, and I watch videos because my doctors don't tell me ANYTHING!!
    Thank you.

      Doctors "practice" medicine. Remember that.

    Long video to basically say "If you're having trouble sleeping take sleeping pills". I'm here because the pharmaceuticals aren't working.

      No, sleeping pills are a very specific class of medications called z drugs. They don’t promote deep sleep. They sedate you. Her book has a chart where she explains that she uses an alpha wave intrusion blocker, which means a med that helps block the awake brain waves. Then a deep sleep promoter, so encouraging the deep sleep phases. Sedatives are only necessary if falling asleep is a problem, which it wasn’t for me. So I take flexiril for alpha wave blocking and baclofin for deep sleep promoting, and it changed my life. Both are muscle relaxers. I don’t require a z drug like ambien or even something like melatonin. I’m also taking clonidine, which is a blood pressure med, which also helps with alpha wave intrusion. If you’ve been prescribed z drugs like ambien only and didnt find relief, it’s because it’s not what you need.

    Thank you Dr Ginevra, for continuing to help us Fibro patients. I received a recommendation to get your book The Fibro Manual, from my massage therapist. So I read and studied it several years ago. I still refer back to it. There are loads of specific life changing instructions in this book. You should buy this if you suffer from Fibro.

    Been diagnosed with severe FM/ME for 15 years. My cortisol is 30x normal levels. I do meditation/ yoga/ everything under the sun but my stress is switched on as you mentioned and I can’t control it. My phone ringing can stress me! Yes I do sleep with one eye open! So unless I have general anestesia! I don’t know what to do

      I am so sorry , its very emtionally ecpxhausting to be sleep deprived and i don't want to come across as thinking presumptously but i woukd also think that your quality of life suffers more with less sleep?

      Try taking Seriphos and/or ashwagandha. Both will lower your cortisol by at least 1/3 over time.

    So glad to have found your channel!! Each video speaks to me especially this one as sleep is not my friend and I don’t want to take sleep meds as I have young kids....it is very much a chain reaction..... I love the analogies used because it’s so true. I take mag pills and spray...lots of supplements....I do take baclofen when it’s really bad or gravol....such good suggestions

    but how would you get restorative sleep while on medication if you have nightmares that make you feel like you’re still awake the whole time? any advice?

    • @thefibroshow
      @thefibroshow  ปีที่แล้ว

      Getting restorative sleep can be challenging for lots of reasons, and what you describe is definitely one of them. I can't give specific medical advice in this forum but there are two chapters in my book The FibroManual that give lots of guidance on improving sleep quality.

    I either can’t get to sleep until 3am or I wake up at 3am. I was given nortriptyline 20mg to help. It hasn’t done anything for my poor sleep but the migraines I suffered the last 10 years are gone 🎉
