Thank you. Very helpful. I had shoulder replacement 5 weeks ago. Some of your gadgets (seatbelt aids) are helpful for my husband who has Parkinson’s Disease
I had surgery on my right shoulder I got told to hold the steering wheel at the bottom then hold the wheel normally with the left hand feeding the wheel through both hands hence keeping my right arm stationary. I got told not to do long journeys and also know your limits. Alan Merseyside/England.
I had surgery done on my Left shoulder in '07 and right '09 both in December. I had a '94 Ford ranger with 160,000 + miles on it and had a manual transmission. Both times my wife would not drive my truck to keep the rotors from pitting and to keep the battery charged. I had to drive it my self during the winter near Buffalo, NY. I learned how to shovel with one arm, push the snow then lift the shovel with your foot
I recently had surgery on my right shoulder, and it's the first time since I broke down and switched to an automatic that I'm glad I did. 😊 I can't imagine driving a stick without the use of my right arm.
I'm super happy to have found your videos in anticipation of my shoulder surgery. They're taking a ton of anticipation off my mind. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you so much for your awesome channel! You have helped me so much, and I am so grateful. I recently had rotator cuff tear repair surgery due to a fall on cement back in October. Your channel greatly helped me to prepare for surgery as well as post surgery. This past Friday completed 3 weeks since my surgery. Thank you so much again! Take Care, Linda
Thank you again for another very informative video. Closing the car door is sometimes problematic for me as my arms are short, so I might caution people to use something to help you close the door. I’ve used a cane in the past which was very helpful
My rotator cuff surgery was on my left arm and I’m post op 6 weeks. I open/close my car door and use my seatbelt with my right arm /hand. I learned this technique pre-op since I experienced so much pain.
Happier that I found your helpful video for all important for fast recovery. Like this. I miss driving almost 7 yrs. This time after four months recovery I can drive finally. Thank you so much. I love you for this big help for driving safety way. God bless you 🙋♀️❤️🇮🇹
Two items, my issue is on the right side, is there a device that helps click the seatbelt into place, and in my prius, even though it's an automatic the gear shift is on the right side near the floor, so is there a device that helps with that?
This and many other of your videos have helped me so much as I inch closer to my rotator cuff surgery in 4 weeks. Thank you so much for helping ease a lot of my concerns and worries as I get ready for work before surgery. Just this morning, it was, "How the heck am I going to put on socks??"
You should have shown how you clip the seat belt with your left hand if your affected shoulder is the right. You know that you won't be able to move the post surgical arm to do this. More demonstrations needed on this.
@@RCREVIEWS101 some people have to go out who are recovering from a shoulder issue they may not have anyone, you still have to go to doctor appts while recovering from a shoulder surgery, look at a few people who have back injuries some of them can drive
I had a right shoulder repair and I'm still in a sling. Yeah as a driver it's easier to grab the seat belt with a left hand anyway, in my opinion. The problem that I had was finding the seatbelt clasp with the big sling and abductor question. That got frustrating a little bit But I was able to do it. I had no problem driving at 2 and a 1/2 weeks , but I didn't have a whole lot of Pain either. I drive with my left hand anyway from so many years of driving a stick shift. Luckily, I am now using the 1st car I've ever had with automatic So that was a lucky thing. Maybe Practice left handed driving if you need to in a parking lot Or Very quiet side streets with no children.
Years ago we called the knobs "suicide" knobs. when there was NO power steering except for what your gigantic steering wheel provided. Funny how they really work well Wish I had known about the seat belt grabber, fantastic idea, that was a struggle for me with a R-Shoulder Rotator Cuff repair.
I'm a month out after full replacement and drove my 6-speed Camaro for the first time since before surgery. Very little pain or problems. I did skip several gears though, shifting from 2nd gear to 6th most of the short drive.
Left shoulder surgery coming up. Do you have an easier way to close the door? I like the seatbelt options. I may use a small pry bar to ‘hook’ the door…hmmm. Thank you for your assistance.
i can't believe u recommend the seatbelt aids. they appeared to require a bit of force to attach. if a person needs assistance to put on their seatbelt - i don't think they are safe to drive yet. i had shoulder surgery in Feb of this year and opening and closing a car door has to be done slowly. As an RN i am mindful of getting into car safely and the cumulative affect of pain on shoulder for driving occurs reducing strength. ive tried twice and driven a short distance. nope, got to wait a bit longer.
Parallel parking definitely hurts me the most; that motion of holding my left arm on the wheel and looking back behind me. Hope everyone shoulder surgery viewer heals well! Keep up with the physical therapy!
Parallel parking is a pain for anyone anyway noatter what your driving. I drive a semi truck and I hate doing it when I have to. But just take ur time and be patient and you will get it.
My ergothérapist make me go to my auto dealer to obtaining an other buckle to make mine longer (almost on my hip) so it’s more easy when you buckle is almost there to clip! Sorry for my English.
That will be very tricky, but you'll have to reach across with the Left to shift into gear. You will need to give yourself some healing time before attempting as this could be an issue of safety if it cannot be done safely.
Your video was well said but I was disappointed that it didn't cover how to use a stiff shift, how to use the key and ignition, and how to shift into Park, Reverse, and Drive, especially with someone had their repair on the right.
Ditto & it would have been useful to talk and explain for people driving with gearing sticks (= not automatic cars), as quite a few people are living outside the USA ! Will have a cuff rotators surgery later this winter
They are in some states in the US as well. It's important to know local traffic laws before installing. Occasionally they are allowed due to disability when the individual has gone through proper training and licensing for a modified vehicle control system.
I drive a right hand manual car so I am not going to be able to drive until I have full movement as it is my left should er that needs replacing. Left hand changes gear, seat belt buckling, and all other dash board operations.
New Zealand here. I was told by my surgeon ABSOLUTELY NO driving for 6-8 weeks. Right shoulder replacement. I drive a manual car not an auto so NO WAY would I drive until I'm told it's safe to do. It also affects our insurance in NZ.
Silicone steering wheel cover allows palm steering without having to relearn steering. If you have to use a card for parking structure access you can put a clothespin or metal office clip on a dowel or cane. That bendy could probably be used to close the door, I hook my foot under the door to get it close.
I am so glad you are talking about what tools will benefit people who have shoulder pain. I could have used these tips 6 weeks ago. My surgery is scheduled for April 10th, 2023. I tried scheduling an earlier surgery date, but there were no dates available. Anyway, your videos are very helpful. I will be checking Amazon for some of these products. Thank you!
What pain management? My husband is two weeks out from a shoulder replacement, and despite the Supreme Court decision freeing doctors to prescribe whatever they see fit (Ruan v US) he’s left with vaping and alcohol for pain.
My boyfriend suffered a stroke which affected his right side. I ended up buying his stick shift. We then bought one of those spinners and put it on an automatic transmission car. It helped him a lot.
Such a silly statement. So, anyone that has only one arm, can't drive legally, in any state, at any time? Don't post factually incorrect statements. It helps nobody.

Not sure where the links are for these products. The spinner wheel. The foam covered twist tie. Where's the link???
They are all linked below the title if you expand the description.

reach over with your right arm lol
I'm guessing that a stick shift / manual transmission is outta the question?
