I recently fractured my humerus in three places, I was unable to put on a bra for the first four weeks. My challenge is that my cup size is much larger than the model in the video - which made it even more difficult to use the various methods. At week 4, I managed to put on a front zip bra using the technique that she demonstrated for front clasp. Thank you very much!

These videos are awesome! I've also learned after my last shoulder surgery three years ago, that while in recovery, a racer strap back (looks like an x) helps redirect pressure and helps reduce pain on the surgical shoulder. Good luck to all!

I step into my bra as I wear one with bones in it (I'm well endowed and need the support) and it works for me. I wasn't able to bring it over my head so I hook it and step into it. I ordered a larger size in the beginning so it would go up easily. That works for me.

Thank you. Very useful video.😄 I've just had a rotator cuff repair and stabilisation in my dominant arm. I couldn't put the strap up on the side with the surgery because it was much too painful and a dressing the size of an American Footballer shoulder pad - so I started off just letting that strap hang loose - got annoying though. It's since evolved into wearing a strapless bra that has an option for straps - on one side I've put the strap on, but not attached it on the painful side. Also, to make it easier to swivel the bra around, I use bra extenders. Still supportive enough - I'm hardly going to be jumping around!! 😜

Thank you so much for this. I don't have a surgery date yet, hopefully soon, but have a torn rotator cuff in my dominant arm that needs surgical repair. In the process of gathering information for after care and this tutorial was so helpful. Several comments from friends that have had it, mention going braless, but unless sleeping, I just can't. It feels really weird to me and I need to wear a bra and as overwhelming as recovery will be, having some type of "normal" routine with regards to dressing is going to be helpful for the mental part.

    • @krickette5569

I haven’t had shoulder surgery (and hope to avoid it) but I’ve basically given up on bras because one shoulder dislocated (every single shoulder at the very least if not more) and then the other likes to make sure it isn’t missing out too often 🤦‍♀️. Anyway, this has given me more ideas of what to trial and also I like the dressing stick!! I hadn’t seen that before. The process for doing this is excellent but very difficult to twist the bra around your body after hooking it. I notice you are twisting it over clothing that you have on so much easier to twist it. Maybe difficult because just got out of shower and skin still wet. Any suggestions for making it easier to twist?

Thank you for this video. I am needing help choosing a bra. I’m a large woman with large breast and my hands are crippled from Rheumatoid Arthritis so I’ve lost strength. I have limited range and motion in my arms. I feel like this is a lost cause. Bra straps need to be snug or my breasts sag. If I could find a padded sports bra that would basically squish the breasts up and in place without spilling out the top I’d be happy. At this point I’ve thought about breast removal if I can’t get this figured out. Thanks

I’ve had some luck with SheFit sports bras for large breasts. They are zipper front with adjustable straps. You could add a grip ring on the zipper for dexterity, but depending on the fit, it still might be too much tugging for your hands. There is another brand called Intimately that makes adaptive intimate wear including bras with a wide range of closure styles to accommodate different body types. Website is intimately.co

Check out the bra Leading Lady brand which is a simple pull over sport bra that is stretchy cotton with some spandex or something like that. There is a bra brand called Glamorize and they sell sports bras. Not as easy to put on but def hold it all in. I’m one of those well endowed to the point of painful also and I have arthritis in my hands. The pull over ones are second easiest and front hook are maybe the best but I haven’t tried them yet. Might be easier to hook while around your middle with cups and straps down then pull over and put boobs in cups where they need to be.
Also some labeled “bralette” are easier like sports bras to pull over your head. (From lane Bryant). I think woman within has the front close ones though. Not pretty but maybe do the trick.
Here’s the one I like. It’s not super sexy but it does the job and is smooth under tee shirts. There’s one near it that front closes also.

Depends on the location and level of "pull" you get from your bra strap. My guess is if the strap is too close to the incisional area or causes pressure near the joint, it will be uncomfortable. If you can put some padding under the bra strap that spreads the weight out, you might be able to tolerate better. Hope that helps!

Spinning the thing around is not easy

She's using a bra that is too large in circumference and makes this look deceptively easy. The bra band should do most of the support work and if it is too loose, the shoulder straps do most of the work, something that is not desirable. She also has the dexterity in her good arm to reach completely around her back to the far side, something that most people will not be able to do.

Exactly. After Humerus surgery, I don't know what happened to my good arm but I was in pain if I even attempted that move. I really think that a new type of bra should be developed that you step into and tighten the band under the bust once its in place. A wide band would be called for.

And those of us with larger cup sizes will find this very difficult to impossible to do alone. I can’t do it now and my surgery date is a few months away. 😢

And what if your surgery is on dominant arm? That makes it worse

@@kimzinnie my surgery will be on my dominant shoulder. 😕 I'm looking forward to the day when this will all be an uncomfortable memory.

10 days in and sod the bra! I'm sure I'll need to wear one soon: not exactly blessed with an enviable pair now at 64!!
She makes this look so easy: l sweat like a maniac truing to get a bra on on a normal day!
Maybe I'll treat myself to a front loader/zip up. Bought one in a bigger size to accommodate me for rhe next 5wks in a sling.
Ti es like this l wish l had really nice, neat, pert boobs that looked good braless!!!

I have no shame. Too old to care. I'd go w/o. Just having had surgery, there would be no way that's worth it. For the most part it's how I put them on in the first place, but I like mine snug sports bras. They don't twist easily, especially on damp skin.

Who would ever consider wearing a bra after a fracture or surgery ? Not me , I am small breasted but would not bother with a bra at this recovery time….
