    THANK YOU SO MUCH for these fantastic videos! My sister has a total reverse shoulder replacement scheduled in a month and I will be her caregiver. These videos are doing a great job of getting us prepared!

    I'm a man who got a shoulder replacement surgery, I realized before I got the surgery that it would be a problem putting my undershorts and pants on with only one arm available when I would be wearing a sling, so I bought a spring loaded clamp that had a hole in the handle, and I also bought a stretchy bungee cord with a metal "S" hook in each end. Then I attached the bungee cord hook into the hole in the clamp handle and bent the hook with a pliers so it would stay attached to the handle; It worked great to use to pull up my undershorts and to pull up my pants by myself using only one arm.

    I will be having shoulder surgery next week and your videos have been extremely helpful in letting me know how to be more independent during recovery. You do a nice job of explaining the steps and options. Thank you.

    This is the third video of yours, I have watched. They are fantastic and so thorough! I am having rotator cuff surgery in a few weeks and have been practicing caring for myself and doing household stuff with one hand/arm. These tips are wonderful, takes the guess work out of how to put on garments, and helps ease the frustration that will naturally come with trying to manage tasks with one arm. Thank you!!

    I'm a 71 year old male and not Diabetic, but I like those socks. Of all places Dollar Tree sells them for $1.25 / pair! I'm going for Rotor Cuff Surgery this Friday, March 1st.
    If this injury had to happen I wish it wasn't my dominate hand!!!! I've been practicing cleaning-up after bodily functions, it's a task!
    Thanks for your presentation, great information!
    Mend well,
    Best to ya',,,,!

    That's ok if you have one good arm. I require both shoulders replaced as I have snapped tendons in both shoulders, also rotator cuff tears in both shoulders. Dressing is a nightmare. I have been waiting several years for a shoulder replacement as my other health problems have stopped me from getting an operation. I have had three shoulder repairs in the past which have made my shoulders worse. If you are nearly eighty with widespread arthritis life can be hell.

    Second week after my left shoulder replacement surgery. Doing ok so far. First week was not fun but is behind me now. Watched as many of your videos as I could and I wanted to thank you for making this alot easier than it would have been without your efforts. Thanks again! One handed typing sucks and takes forever to go back and correct the mistakes....LOL

    Except for going to physio and getting my groceries from the delivery truck I plan to dress very little.
    I retired early and live alone and reside 50 klm from a larger town with a physiotherapist and after having bilateral knee replacements 18 months ago I'm well ready for my surgery 3 weeks away.

    Love all your videos. I'd love to know your background & if you did these as a part of completing a college degree. I'm also wondering if you have had someone close who required this kind of help. What was your inspiration? This is so valuable & you are touching so many lives! Question: Can you reveal the brand of your pull on pants? I have surgery in the fall & have made a list of needs based on your amazing information. (Love the portable electric bidet idea!) I wonder what equipment I'll receive when I leave the hospital so I might be duplicating by purchasing ahead of time. I'm sure each hospital &/or doctor specifications vary. Thank you again ... a million times. I'm a fan & will share with friends.

    If you read this mate, I wonder if you’d consider finding -and then presenting -a technique for putting on compression pantyhose with a shoulder injury. Its for my 83 year old neighbour. She MUST wear compression pantyhose for her health every day. But she has now a permanently weak left shoulder (they can’t operate). It will never get strong again.. She can’t choose to wear loose pants like you’ve advised in this video. (An important point, here -The compression pantyhose of which I speak, are not individual stockings, but are the two-legged all in one deal- tights, basically). She can get them onto her feet. But her shoulder strength is the problem in getting them up over her bottom and up to waist high. What has resulted, is that after going to the toilet, she often walks around for hours with her pantyhose around her knees, waiting for help, and literal shuffles from room to room, and has fallen before as a result. This Is madness. I cant find any aids for this. They may exist. But Google and TH-cam seem to think I’m asking for aids / or methods to put the feet into the hose. No ! Im talking about: they’re already on, just cant pull them back up after having them half way down when you have just used to toilet. Notably, compression tights , are especially TIGHT,, -(of course, because that’s how they do their compressing job)--which means they’re harder to pull up than normal tights. Can you help us please? Thanking you, Susan, Australia

    I am going for reverse shoulder replacement in 17 days . My problem is pulling up pants because my unoperated arm is also very sore (needs another repair). Getting the pants over the far side hip is almost impossible. Any ideas? Thank you for your videos.

    My mother, age 84 has a larger waste and has to wear incontinence products. She recently broke her shoulder and is struggling with pulling up her pants after going to the bathroom or getting dressed in the morning. I've been going over there to help her dress in the mornings, but I can't be with her 24/7. Any suggestions on methods that would make this easier under her circumstances?

    Hi! I'm an OT student and was wondering if this is the method you would recommend for an elderly patient with bilateral shoulder weakness? Or is there another method that would be helpful?

    • @EquipMeOT
      @EquipMeOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This might be effective if one shoulder is slightly more functional than the other or perhaps they need to alternate which side they use throughout the process.

      These were from a sample sale and I cannot find them anymore. Stylistically, they are very similar to these Sketchers: www.skechers.com/skechers-slip-ins-go-walk-flex---relish/124963_BKW.html

    I had rotator cuff surgery, then fell and fractured a rib on the other side. My sling is thicker than yours. I can not reach my underwear (incontinence garment) and pants on the sling side. I have tried the dowel dressing stick and the gripper. No luck, the sling still gets in the way.
    Any ideas? I'm having to stay in a rehab. So I can go to the bathroom.

    Very helpful but pulling on pants over larger hips didn't work. Idiscovered that the secret for me isslippery underpants! I got some nylon? microfiber unbderpants a size larger than usual. Outer pants also a size larger. Slippery underpants allow you to pull them up more easily and tug them back and forth with one hand until settle at waist. Then outer pants slide up and can be hauled above the waist and wiggled around to fall into place. No one tells you these things. 🤪😂

  • @aryanadelgado1505

    Hi! For someone who also has a broken leg and wearing a knee immobilizer, would you recommend using AE like the reacher to help don pants? Or would that be too difficult to do one-handed?

    • @EquipMeOT
      @EquipMeOT  ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on your flexibility, but most will benefit from using a reacher.

    • @aryanadelgado1505
      @aryanadelgado1505 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EquipMeOT Thank you for your reply! My concern is they have limited ROM on their non-broken arm, but I'm wondering what would be the most efficient way to get their pants past their waist if they're NWB and unable to pull themselves up to stand due to weakness on their unaffected side?

    • @EquipMeOT
      @EquipMeOT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, that’s way more complex! Definitely will need to trial a few techniques. Probably looking at either side to side rocking from edge of bed or bridging from supine to get the pants over the hips, but with the arm weakness, both both be tough.

    • @aryanadelgado1505
      @aryanadelgado1505 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EquipMeOT Thank you so much for the tips! Will definitely be trialing these techniques and see which is easier!
