For sure, I think unravel has more parts to it (odd runs and jumps) and my dearest has more similar sections. I think they are close in difficulty. I do really want to learn this one so we will see:)
@@TDuncPiano good luck 👍 Also, for reference, Animenz does rank his own pieces. There is a playlist of his “Top 10 most difficult arrangements” which he ranked himself.
@@TDuncPiano I also found your ranking to be quite accurate based on my experience. Animenz’s top 5 hardest pieces are considered a huge jump from #10-6 imo. COLORS is ranked as #6 and Kuusou Mesorogiwi #5. I had a much more difficult experience playing Kuusou to the point I was actually injured during one of the final sections. So the difficulty between #6 and #5 is very significant. I’d say COLORS is deceptively easy, but learning a couple Chopin etudes would help a ton since its techniques are very classically inspired (most from Chopin).
Thanks Tdunc for doing 2 of the suggestions I gave in the comment section last time, you still have "This game" and "brave shine from fate" (looks like the hardest to me). I've heard that Animenz specialy wrote Unravel to train some specific skills from the hardest classical pieces and that's why it's so hard ! When I started to play the piano I didnt know a lot about piano and I thought Patrik Pietschmann's pieces were the hardest lol cause they look so hard and when I started to understand things I realized how hard were Animenz's arrangements, if i'm not wrong they're so much harder than patrik's pieces. Thanks for the video, love that ranking concept with different pianists
Yeah ive been learning his pieces and what i will say is that even with my 14 years of piano, his pieces are without a doubt the pinnacle of diffculty haha. With Unravel learned a little while ago, ive moved on to more pieces, Sugar Song and Bitter Step is my favorite ive learned so far. Boy is rly nice, My Dearest is smth ill learn soon, but this guys pieces are my absolute favorite. Glad to see hes gaining more attention. He deserves it!
bios is my favourite piece of all animenz arrangements the 10th anniv is a super unique piece for me, the hardest part that took me alotta time to practice was the 4-hands technique section
Many of animenz's earlier pieces ARE hard just because lol. I've seen a post from him saying that if he were to redo an arrangement in the modern day, he'd make the parts less annoying.
Great video, liked the analysis. Imo my dearest is by far the hardest but there’s only so much you can tell from a piece just by looking at it right? Looking forward to seeing you practice some of these. Btw at 6:26 why do you call them thumb slides instead of glissandos? Also the last part of bios that you touched on is played extremely well, not only is animenz playing different articulations in each hand perfectly, but he is also slowly adding the pedal in to add on to the sound until it ends climactically. Genius.
Thank you! Yes, now that you mention it, a gliss is more accurate but I usually play them with my thumb so in the moment I said thumb slide. The last part of bios is so good!
I really do hope my dearest is not a lot tougher than unravel. I managed unravel but if my dearest is even tougher idk if i will be able to do it LOL. Great analysis video btw! (Though as a self-taught i still dont know many things, especially pertaining to theory)
@@pierrotzzz they’re 2 completely different style pieces. For me, my dearest was much easier because I’m good with expressive/emotional playing but not so good at technical playing, so Unravel was naturally more challenging.
@raidgens8839 yeah, I suspect im not that good at long-burn pieces like my dearest, but i could be wrong though(hopefully). I can surpisingly do quite well at short bursts of hard stuff like the jumps in unravel. That too almost cleanly. Lets see what my dearest has in store for me
@@raidgens8839 aye, maybe after my dearest! Haha Though it remains to be seen if I can accurately learn it through synthesia, since I can't exactly read sheets.
😍 goated vid as per, unravel is way too difficult for me but I love the song My favourites I'd love to see you talk about are YouSeeBIGGIRL, Ashes on The Fire, and Akuma no Ko from AOT, and departure! and Hyori Ittai from HXH 🙏 (I'd love to see them all just because they're my favourite songs and the ones I wanna learn, but if you don't know them I think you'd find Ashes on The Fire the most interesting from a musical standpoint with the 3 voices)
For me, his crying for rain cover my favorite right next to unravel
Unravel is a beast!
One day I will try it for sure, just gotta finish some current projects 😎
For me, my dearest is harder than even Unravel. It’s definitely one of those pieces that look much easier than it actually is to play.

Dude thank you so much for doing this ranking. It brings nostalgia. Keep doing it 😃
Thanks man, I appreciate it :)
Animenz's versions of merry go round of life, and kickbacks sound very nice as well

you should do aLIEz, it's probably my favorite animenz cover 😇
Love your videos. Could you consider looking at Animez's [To You 2000…or…20000 Years From Now…] and [Akuma no ko]
Rising hope from Animenz is crazy plis cek
Can you do To you 2000 or 20,000 years from now. I don’t know much about its difficulty but I personally like it mainly the first half of it.
Nice
You should make time stamps👍. Good vid
