    Honestly, Cathay did a great job with utilizing a darker tone for their cabin… I mean it just looks so comfy looking? Not to mention that its gonna look a lot cleaner cuz stains aren’t as visible.

    • @bavariaEiB
      @bavariaEiB 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Yeah, exactly! I also think a dark cabin isn't looking as cheap as bright and colourful cabins like the ones from Ryanair and it's other companies.

    • @jopes1775
      @jopes1775 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Not just cleaner looking, but it does give the vibe that you’re in a lounge, which I agree makes the appearance comfortable. I’ve taken a flight on one of their 777s from MNL to HKG and it was very comfortable flight in economy.

      I am just curious as to why the flight attendants are to be so pitied and or sympathized when they are like any other workers employees in any other job are just going about their assigned tasks and jobs. How often does anyone feel or sympathize with any Calle center customer rep who possibly gets only flak in his/her job and yet no one feels bad or empathizes with them. I believe in mutual respect and dignity for all.

    • @henningwinter7402
      @henningwinter7402 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do this as well. "Thank you and enjoy the rest of your day." Always. It is still amazing what kind of feedback you get from the crews. Some want to take me home, others just look out of empty eyes.

    • @heinzketchup3323
      @heinzketchup3323 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sunnychekrs7597 absolutely, but flight attendants have long working hours and deal with potentially dangerous passengers quite often. It is of course not the only job in the service sector that should be recognized and respected

    The additional fold down utility area above the main table on the A350 is utterly genius, never seen this before on any aircraft, never mind in economy. This provides better storage
    space than some Business Class seats. While Cathay Pacific may not be the 5* airline from 2019, both flights were still pretty good and service and food looked just as tasty as before.
    Like every airline, Cathay are suffering and trying hard to survive. A few dozen people on a flight is unsustainable. I like the fact you mostly do economy reviews its realistic, its what
    96% of us fly. Many Business Class carriers have been cutting back since 2019, giving your entire meal on one tray, all your really paying for is lounge access and the lie flat bed.

      I flew on them some weeks ago, HKG-SIN. They didn't reach out to us individually that it was not a "Vaccinated Travel Lane" (VTL) flight, and I ended up having to quarantine for 7 days, even though I'm fully vaccinated.
      However, the blame's also on singapore, who scoffs at Hong Kong and treats them differently than China (e.g. for some months, HK was given 14 day quarantine while China had zero; then HK was given the one-way VTL, tightening restrictions, while China arrivals to singapore were zero days regardless of vaccine status)

      Read an article on Reuters today about the mental health and wellbeing of Cathay flight crew due to even tighter HK restrictions. Many pilots from Europe and Australia have now
      resigned. They fly into HK then face 10 days mandatory quarantine in a hotel, but still expected to have a smile on their face when they fly out 11 days later. While I respect any
      countries restrictions, this is clearly wrong. Cathay are using this to make their London/European and Aussie higher paid flight crew to quit. These people built this 5* international
      airline, but Sadly they are being forced out. With mounting debts, sadly this once ground breaking airline wont be around in 2022.

      The transit arrangements in Changi prevented the Omicron variant from spreading to people across the airport and into Singapore despite a handful of transit passengers being detected with it, something which has occurred with the Delta variant and forced the airport to implement those measures after the virus spread to other passengers, airport staff, and finally into the community.

    I love Cathay Pacific Airways! Being the first Asian airline to have won the Skytrax 4 times is something that they should be proud of. I believe that Cathay will bounce back stronger. They always been and that's been proven time and again. For me, still the world's best airline- Cathay Pacific Airways 🥰

    I thought the dark Cabin on the A350 looked premium and really nice, seat pitch was also generous for a economy seat. I also recently flew into HK and hope travellers return soon as it was eerily quiet compared to the good old days!

    First of your videos I've seen....nice review.... Last in Phuket 2019 and wish I could enjoy soon, but have resigned myself to not traveling this winter.. I flew Singapore Air when I returned in 2019, but it was from Siem Reap, Cambodia instead....Siem Reap - Singapore - Frankfurt, Germany - JFK/New York - Syracuse, New York....that was a brutal flight sitting so long..Thanks for the video

    IIRC, Cathay Pacific never offered amenity kit in their long-haul flights in economy. Also, Hong Kong is located in Southeast Asia, instead of East Asia.

    Lets be honest ... The reason why Cathay is not what it used to be, is not only the covid 19 restrictions, but also what has happend and is happening in Hong Kong, with China taking control. Not only does Cathay have to struggle with the covid 19 pandemic, but there most likely a lot of people that don't want to visit Hong Kong, with the current political turmoil. I really wanna visit Hong Kong and fly Cathay, but I'm sceptical to what it will be like, with China in control.

    Cathay Pacific was a 5-star/top 3 airlines in the world 10 years ago. Nowadays, I would NOT fly Cathay when I can fly with Singapore, Eva, China, ANA and Korean.

    I made an exception this time just because this is about Cathay (I am from Hong Kong), as I don't watch Economy Class reviews anymore! I've been flying for 40 years now with enough experience to tell you all that all Economy Classes are the same: either bad, or very bad simply because you are not paying the money of a Business Class or First Class ticket! When it comes to these two classes there are far more variations in the level of service, and it matters a lot more since you are paying (or your company) a lot more. Cathay has gotten FAR BEHIND its competitors, for example, in First Class we are talking about "suites" NOT just a bigger seat, and in terms of service its staff doesn't compare anywhere to say Japan Airlines. I will only fly Cathay if I have no other option since I am based in Hong Kong. Of course there are ones far worse than Cathay, mostly the Western Airlines (BA and Air Canada are prime examples), but their prices are also far cheaper than Cathay (e.g. HK to London Business Class on BA is HKD30000 vs Cathay's $50000 last time I checked in 2019), so it's OK as long as you treat it as "Premium Economy".

    The 3-3-3 looks reasonably comfortable, I’m pretty sure I went on their 777 3-4-3 configuration in 2019 and it was claustrophobic. And at the time I was only 5ft 10 64-5ish kg 💀
