Their videos are very in-depth on a wide range of topics and can not recommend them enough if you are interested in history because they cover every era, but have great overview videos of Mongols and Roman empire. The lines being stretched out is 100% an attila thing. Most total war games are that way unless you play Napoleonic total war 3 or something like that that actually gives moral improvement for thicker lines
its not even that good in attila.. They wont hold against heavy cav charges unless its pikes or some heavy armoured braced spears. its useful only in infatry battles where they´ll effectively fight more men with being harder to outflank. Even then unless thats not some crazy strong heavy infantry its best to ahve at least 1 line in reserves.
Las Lavas de Tolosa was not only a military victory for Christian Iberia; it also lead to the capture of many Islamic cities in al-Andalus which yielded much classical (Greco-Roman) knowledge and scholarship. Without this battle, the Renaissance may never have happened! Thanks for showing us Pixie!

@@nogisonoko5409 That's true but when you're risking getting charged by calves and losing 60 men off the charge alone it's not really worth it That's why it's not the meta. it was really common at one point and then it kind of started to become much less common as nights began charging through lines and people realized that it wasn't really a good idea. Surprisingly during this fight it didn't really happen which kind of shows that maybe these people either overestimated the spears or underestimated their cav or potentially just don't have a whole lot of experience with the mod. Regardless it was a very excellent battle I definitely enjoyed it just if I was playing it there were stuff that could have been exploited like those spaghetti lines.
@@nogisonoko5409 concentrating heavy cav into wedge formation will let you punch through and wreak havoc, I’ve punished a few players who try to do this before.

That replay glitch is still there in the older games (same for Shogun 2), if you add for example a mounted standard bearer in the "standard bearer" column in the database. You get the same glitch. Never been fixed by CA.

Alfonso was Castille king. Also the final charge of the heavy cavallry was made out of all the knights of the three iberian kingdoms (Castilla, Aragón and Navarra). If I´m wrong I´d gateful listen or read anything that anyone could send me. Great video :).
I love that you brought banner lord back. If you feel the grind is too much I think you should add a mod which will like give you money or troops rather than grinding off camera for a while. And as you are a banner lord veteran you will know how much and what quality of troops you might have gotten. Love ur vids

If they're able to import trebuchet from 3K, couldn't they technically import units as well. I'd love to see a Dark Age Western Roman Empire vs. China battle.
Only want to point why are some walls in the castle of Inverness the upper part non destructive when defender put on them crossbows and any other firing unit then to the passage between walls place pikemens which can not be killeb by any unit even archers or crossbows when shooting straight to them(if you shoot by curvature you can take some them but not much this will be helpfull if archers or crossbows can shoot like this)you practicly cannot break the castle defence even with 5 units of catapults because non destructive walls. Any ideas or explanation to this? Plus archers can shoot by curvature but only if they are behind building or behind wall when they are behind own unit they shoot straight to the enemy this result to killing more own man than enemy crossbows are the same whis worked in medieval2 so why dont do they here. Also when pikes are engaded they can form pike wall, when are spearmen engade in fight they can not form shield wall. little bit op

The Meta definitely isn't pencil thin lines...cav breaks through really easily need to be at least four ranks deep to stop a cab charge.
