i personaly think that fans and community like this with this passion and love for killteam/40k are the main reason GW is still alive thanks for yor work
The sand in your grey basecoat adds a lot of texture, it’s like being inside a leaked nuclear reactor, not a mistake - a lucky accident! This tutorial is my favourite on TH-cam for making this sort of game board. Thanks !
Pointing out your mistakes is a way better way to learn how you can build your own epic terrain. I mean there are loads of videos about building on the web, but very few actually point out what to avoid. Congrats man, keep up and stay safe. Happy New Year!
This video inspired me to make my own similar board!! But, instead of the plaster I found that using a texture mix worked really well. The mix is made with Baking soda, Multi purpose glue (Elmer's school glue lol), and paint (for color of your choice). Use more baking soda to make it more grainy looking, and maybe even add tiny rocks for rubble texture.
This looks great! It's great inspiration as well for my own gameboard project. I think you did an excellent job repairing the few mistakes you made over the course of the texturing and painting. The end result is wonderful.
What a great board you created! I was sorry to know you had a few disasters along the way but in the end you wouldn't have known. This is a great inspiration, well done.
So, so good! Reminds me very much of City 17 from the early parts of Half-Life 2, worn down and broken, but still possibly lived in by poor souls eeking out an existence somehow
damn that's some fine terrain here, I'm probably going to use some of the ideas you showed there, like the simple shape you made at the beginning for the board itself, never thought about doing it that way, but that seem really handy
i know it would be a nightmare to play but id like to see a full sized battle report with the scale and size of this to make it look more realistic and not a open table with a few buildings here and there
Awesome build mate. I'm doing one myself. I'm a bit surprised the cardboard holds everything and although you mention warping I expected so much warping the board could not be used. Again it looks very nice!
This is amazing. What kind of paint you suggest to use for painting the table itself? Using Citadel paints for this kind of thing would be too expensive.
It looks realy cool but the scale is a little bit off. Most people forget how big Space Marines are. When building a board, it is better to use imp guards for measurements reference
You are right. The scale is off. I did not pay attention to a "realistic" scale. I opted fot playability. I wanted my Marines to fit through the doors :D ,this is why doors and windows are so big, and this is why I placed most ceilings at about 3'' height (even though they shold be higher, placing minis in there is'nt fun...). But i should start using Imp Guardsmen to check if my scale is alright. Thank You!
I always wanted to do this kind of board, but it seemed like a lot of effort to go to to have to play the same set up over and over (even though emersion must be great!). Also where to store it??
When you alredy build the Ruins, there is some structure and stability that hinders the cardboard from warping. And my experience with just coating a piece of carboard with watered down woodglue is, it will certainly warp. So I'd suggest you just go ahead and build a test piece!
Amazing board! Love the use of vertical space. What did you use for the support beams of the big walkway pipe? The two pieces reaching from the ground to the pipe which are angled to one another.
I used some plastic vials, or tiny flasks or however you wanna call them. I just had them laying around for years... But i guess plastic pipes should work as well. Just don't forget to put detailing on them.
Thanks for the video man! Very inspirational :) I am building my own killteam board at the moment and I really love the diorama-approach, but I am hesitant about the static layout. How was your playing experience on the board? Does the static layout become "dull" after several games when everyone knows the best spots to hide? Are you missing modularity? I guess I'm just afraid about putting a ton of work into a project which is no longer strategically interesting after playing several games. Love to hear your thoughts!
The static layout defenetly is a problem. It's like You say, after some Games You know the good spots, and even worse: You know every flaw of the Board XD . But I think something inbetween static and modular might work, for example if I had build only the Baseplate, with the channel and all the piping above. That could have worked... maybe add some rubble and debree around some defined spots, that would serve as a baseplates for some modular, interchangeble buildings, so that it still has a diorama feeling. Also build some loose walkways that you could place everywere. And I'd also suggest that if You plan on adding a channel, it needs enough walking space on both sides, unlike mine. Of course You could also build everything modular, like make it into 6 board tiles instead of one big board, but then the pipe above the channel really becomes a challenge... So yeah, i'd go for an approach inbetween modular and static. So that You can change core layout fatures, and make every game interesting. You can do it, keep on building! btw I'd really like to see Your result...
@@LasseBrenn Thanks Lasse for the long resonse! :) Semi-modular sounds good! I really want some 3-dimensionality in my board, not just a flat ground with some 1-story buildings on. But I find semi-modular difficult to pull off on a 22x30" kill-team board. I would like a flat center to put centerpieces but I would also like flat spots around the center to put buildings. And all that might get a little crowded (is that a bad thing, though? ...) . Anyhow, I'll send you some pics once I have a layout. At the moment it's bare-bone MDF boards, not very interesting.
O also thought about that. As incredibly awesome as it is visually, there seems to be an awful lot of heavy terrain on it. Isn't everything obscured and unshootable all the time on this board?
Whatever minor flaws you considered yourself to have made, it is still a fantastic gaming board and I'd be honored to play on it.
Thank you! :D
This is a masterclass in corrugated cardboard.
I just realised who You are and how amazing the stuff is You do, thank You! And yes, it certainly is!

Thank you very much!
Your honesty is so refreshing! Very entertaining!
Very cool. For cross stitching mesh, look for plaster mesh tape for drywall. It's cross stitched and sticky.
Incredible job, all the happy little accidents worked out in the end 👌
Despite all the "mistakes" in your process, holy crap you wouldn't know from the final product. It's freakin' epic!
enjoying the iterative process of your build. The layering of multiple effects really adds up.
Pointing out your mistakes is a way better way to learn how you can build your own epic terrain. I mean there are loads of videos about building on the web, but very few actually point out what to avoid. Congrats man, keep up and stay safe. Happy New Year!

Thanks for not hiding the mistakes, so we can learn from yours :]
This is surprisingly good camerawork for such a small channel, good work!
Man! Fantastic work! Really awesome what you got. Personally I like the dark color you got on before the second drybrushing.
So, so good! Reminds me very much of City 17 from the early parts of Half-Life 2, worn down and broken, but still possibly lived in by poor souls eeking out an existence somehow
Love the project
Keen for more
Subbed, liked and shared
Glad you found the mesh. Cross stitch mesh is a pain in the ass. Glue and paint doesn't stick to it at all. You did yourself a favor.
Spray it with primer before glueing
Great job. I hope some video game designer uses this for a map.
Very cool board! I like that you show us your "Errors" and tell us how we can dogde it
Man oh man that board looks so cool!
damn that's some fine terrain here, I'm probably going to use some of the ideas you showed there, like the simple shape you made at the beginning for the board itself, never thought about doing it that way, but that seem really handy
Do it!
Spackle is an excellent scale concrete surfacing. It may be called filler where you live, or something else entirely I haven't heard before.
Yes, in my new Videos I used a lot of spackle, you're right!
If you want your spackle to last longer on your game board mix about 25% PVA or Elmer's Glue in with it. Dries hard like a rock
This is amazing. I would pay good money for something like this. Absolutely outstanding work.
What an incredible board
Bet the games on this are fun
Dude this is Awesome!!!
Cool bro! Good idea, great terrain! Thanks for video!
This is amazing! Really inspirong stuff
From basic cardboard, this build is amazing! Well Done!
great work! the silos were genius
Thank You! They're my favourite part too! I might be building these again, as some standalone scatter terrain.
Super cool! Great work
Wow! That is an Epic board I would love to play on it!
Thanks!
I hope you make more i love this video and the game bored
Nice job. Very satisfying to watch.
YES, BE A TERRAIN CHANNEL 👍👍 YOUR STUFF IS GREAT👍👍👍👍
Musste bei dem BFD-Kärtchen kurz lachen :-D
Cooles Board (y)
Danke, war aber n FSJ Kärtchen ;D
Completely outstanding! I would live to play games on a board like this!
Then just build one, it in't that hard, but it takes time. I had this board laying around for halv a year before i finished it.
it looks awesome! Thank you for the inspiration!
Looks great! Thanks for sharing

I don’t think the initial wash was too dark.
Also, love your soundtrack!
Thanks!
nice work! I love how leveled it is, makes for a more dynamic game (: keep it up!
It sure does, thank you!
Awesome board for necromunda
I took my main inspiration from necromunda boards, so it sure is!
Using a cheap knife sharpener to make your scalpel blade sharp... You sir, are a genious!
Cheap sharpener for a cheap blade, just enough so that everything works! Thank You!
Excellent & inspiring! Subscribed!!
Thank You!
Airbrushing could be really useful to paint the base paints?
Have you tried joint compound for cement texture? I add some mod podge, either in or after it dries.
it inspires me to make my own gameboard :D I would like to see a game played on this!
Thanks! But i'm sorry to tell you that there is no gameplay in sight. But i'll think about it.
That is a really awesome gameboard.
Thank you very much!
Wow 😍 amazing
Thank you!
Mate. Epic work
Amazing work!
Thank you!
What an amazing build 👍 I think I may try to recreate this at some point for my games
Respect mate...that took dedication to build that piece. Love it 👍👍👍
Great terrain board build! I might try copying it because it looks amazing!
This turned out great!
Thats an awesome board, great work!
Thanks!
Nice 👍
Wow!!! Cool!
plz make more videos like dis! i love it
Just made my version in 22x30, great video and inspiration, thank you
thanks for sharing it came out great!
Thanks!
Well done
It looks great.
Well done!
Thank you!
Dude, well done!
sugestion if u like, do every part separate paint and than assemble all in 1
Wow is awsome!!
This turned out really good!
That looks awesome! Great job.
This is amazing. What kind of paint you suggest to use for painting the table itself? Using Citadel paints for this kind of thing would be too expensive.
Craft paint, like Apple Barrel or Folkart.
Turned out really nice.
Thanks!

use modge podge for the concrete finish!
Really cool build!
Amazing work!!! Congrats
Thanks!
Nice done, really nice🤘
Dude that’s cool
great work, I like it
awesome!
Really nice board, loving the attention to detail.
Thanks!
Just found your channel. Absolutely fantastic gameboard build love it..New subscriber here...👍
ay shout out to that glue gun, I have it and its nice
I want to see some videos of this board in action!
Amazing!
Great video! Subscribed :)
:D thank you very much!!!
Do you think it would have been better to mod podge all cardboard pieces on both sides before building?

Deserves more subs
I agree XD, thank you!
impressed
your hatches look great, try using sewing snap buttons, these look like hatch latches.
Beautiful !
Well done. Subscribed.
Thank You!
Bro, not sure what country you are in, but Mog Pog with a fine grain sand makes perfect concrete.
