Is it bad that I am not a patreon but I really look forward to these board build videos? Jay and Nick, for the love of all that is holy can you licence the STLs to reputable print houses so that I can buy some? I don’t have space for a 3D printer but would love to support the channel by just buying the terrain. Pretty please! Love you!
@@MyCleverNamesome places have that already. The big issue is getting in trouble for printing STLs that infringe on copyright/intellectual property. There’s a big risk of being legally liable if you’re printing STLs that are stolen- even if your customer provided it to you.
@@TAZEROXFORD There is a simple solution to the licensing problem. But man, the home printing crowd will be all sharpened pitchforks and torches for the first company to not offer the STLs to the public for a Patreon fee.
I keep my printer and my wash station on a shelf next to a window in my apartment. If you want it hard enough you'll make it happen. The shelf and the UV resistant cover keep my siraya tech resin nice and safe.
They look great! 2 tips for oil paint: 1 - use cardboard as the pallet. It pulls the linseed oil out of the paint and helps the paint dry faster and more evenly. 2- be careful when working over gloss varnish. If it isn't completely dry the oil will bond to it and be impossible to clean off.
@@MrCai01 yep definitely something to think about. I've been making a lot of dnd terrain lately and ended up putting away pictures and decor from the shelves and replacing it with them. Priorities haha!
Cheap trick for scenery: get those detachable turrest and doors off, grab some cotton (black is especially suitable), stuff it with plenty overflow in there and voilá
For that matter, you can also grab some cheap toy tanks from the dollar store, give them a simple paint job, and use those as scenery. Maybe disassembling it a bit, apply some scratches and holes, to simulate battle damage.
Watching Jay paint up those magenta pieces and then seeing it in the final video is really cool. Great call on the rocks, I think that could definitely make some mat-and-terrain boards feel more like full boards that have been built from the ground up. Looks great and if I had terrain at home I would use this method!
The bed of that battlewagon being on fire makes it look more like a pair of orks were tussling in the back where one was smoking a cigar and one had a bottle of moonshine with loose bullets all around, then the cigar lit the moonshine on fire, the alcohol fire got all the bullets burning, and then all the orks just bailed.
The terrain over the last few months has been amazing!! Love the use of oils here, I’m too afraid to use them, but after this video I’m definitely going to try it out! Keep it up!
I look forward to these terrain videos each month and this one did not disappoint. I really hope to see some less grim dark terrain in the future, it's great to see stuff for other games as well that just also works for 40k like your Malifaux board or the Necromunda stuff. Would be great to see something Deadzone or Star Wars inspired in the near future.
Fantastic board. I have to admit, i've been trying to cut on subscription services the last few months to please my bank account, but you just happen to release the exact type of terrain i happen to want every single month. And it's pretty cool every time. Good job to your team, i'm sticking to your patreon one more month again.
You had a proper cooking segment going with the rubble. “Add a bit of this and that, give it a good shake. Maybe a touch of this and you got yourself a fine order of rubble.”
Seeing Jay making terrain is such a joy. The bucket of rubble is an excellent idea that I never thought about. The only thing that's really missing is adding a fist full of skulls ;)
Hi Jay, I've you ever want more control from your rattle cans - have you tried the montana gold range? much lower pressure than rusto cans for control, and better quality paint if that even matters for this!
With the advent of high quality (cool looking) battle mats... I really want to see a surge in clear bases! Clear bases look so much better on battlemats!!!
To be fair, my table is 15 yrs old and still going strong. It's 2 big chunks of inch think ply. Each 4' x 3'. Painted black, glued on some small stones and drybrush with some greys. Them varnished. May it last another 15!
I think Jay should try out Blood Bowl. As much as he loves skirmish games, I think he would love it. I'd even volunteer to paint teams for them if he would.
The best wargame boards I've seen are the ones where both parties add terrain on their side of the board. Either as a card showing their side of the board or a little game of placing pieces onto the board. The reason I like this is because rarely does a battle occur when one side does not wish to engage. Both sides need to feel they have favorable terrain. At least for pitch battles.
I love your color scheme, but I probably would've gone with a slightly yellowed-white for the paper. looks too clean for the bureaucracy of the imperium.
I find it funny that when my brothers and me are playing warhammer we play on a pool table cuz we don’t have anything else to use so it just, a planet in the far, far, reaches of space untouched until now it’s called “Redess de tabless”
i really wish 40k had the same rules as bolt action were destroyed tanks stay on the battlefield and you just put some smoke / fire stuffing on them and infantry can use it as cover
The best terrain in the world will still make a bad board if it's not arranged in a way that makes sense. If you can't envision what the area was and how it would be laid out as a living, functional place, then you just end up with a bunch of random terrain that looks like random terrain and not a real location.
The latest editions of 40k focus so much in competitive play, symmetrical tables and a fair ground for both players... That is fine, but most of people forget how damn cool and fun is playing in original, handcrafted and lore friendly boards.
That's actually something that I loved back then. Building a terrain with my friends and then, throw the dice to see who claims the best desployment zone, forcing the other side to adapt. Not so balanced, but very fun
We test print in FDM and Resin. Some of the smaller accessories are characters might be a bit difficult on FDM, but the majority of stuff is printer friendly.
Please do not airbrush oil paints unless you know the exact components! Cadmium Red as well as some Blacks can be super cancerous if atomised for example.
Excellent video!! Thank you :) I do hate to be "that guy" but you shouldn't use aliuminum foil for anything unless you have to. That stuff is insanely messy to produce. The thought of 10 000 miniature painters throwing away several scrunged up balls of aluminium foil every day is properly depressing. :P

How long did it take you to get all that painted?

This!
I sorta think Print On Demand could be the future. Not just for wargaming. 😉

Nice boards with proper terrain just give you so much immersion when playing any table top game.
Great, assuming you have the space to store everything

Using unused tanks for terrain really adds a lot. Nice video as always

I really love the terrain builds every month! Nice change of pace!
I look forward to it every month
The presenting style has improved so much, a lot more dynamic compared to a couple years ago
It's a nice lawn full of pollinators and beetles.
This feels like something straight out of a GW promotion picture. More a diorama than a battle terain! Absolutely love it!
What cardbord terrain is that? It looks really cool and useable..

You just dumped the rocks and glass on the table! I wasn't expecting that at all.
"Oh that IS a nice gold......BTW this is how to make Custode terrain" Love it!
The terrain over the last few months has been amazing!! Love the use of oils here, I’m too afraid to use them, but after this video I’m definitely going to try it out! Keep it up!
There’s no way those puff balls will… holy cats, those LOOK SO COOL!!
if your spray cans support it, theres different tip sizes you can swap for more control on rattle cans
Tip for coloring rock debris. The white marble chips from the dollar store can be dyed really easily using inks or thin paints.
Your terrain just keeps getting better & better! Well done chaps 👍
This vid was rad.
Loved the editing and was a nice change to see a vid filmed partially outside
I look forward to these terrain videos each month and this one did not disappoint. I love the shots outside and at the store
That is some wild colors on the floor.
Everything looks good.
My day-eye started twitching when I saw that uncut lawn
Grim Dark Plush Toys!! HAHAHA! That was funny. Super awesome game table!
Fantastic board. These terrain vids are stunning. Such skill, and made to look so easy! 😍
Lawn maintenance, Jay. Lawn maintenance 😂
So smooth how you got the resin code out there.. shades on.. casually spraying... AND PAAAAAMM... code!! hahahaha Love watching your videos guys
Great work, Jay! I love the board builds.
This looks phenomenal! I’m super inspired now
Where do you store all your awesome boards? I live in England live a shoebox
Same man
Jay going to the bathroom just as he gets to store is so relatable
Monthly terrain painting video is what I always look forward to 🌶️
Thanks Jay and your right!! My board does suck!!
With your fondness for using magenta paints: I'd love to see a Slaanesh or Dark Eldar terrain or some big, fancy vehicle!
You had a proper cooking segment going with the rubble. “Add a bit of this and that, give it a good shake. Maybe a touch of this and you got yourself a fine order of rubble.”
😮 wow the the cotton balls in fish gravel worked so well
When are you going to do a battle report of you and your buddy playing?
Seeing Jay making terrain is such a joy. The bucket of rubble is an excellent idea that I never thought about. The only thing that's really missing is adding a fist full of skulls ;)
Hi Jay, I've you ever want more control from your rattle cans - have you tried the montana gold range? much lower pressure than rusto cans for control, and better quality paint if that even matters for this!
Youve really out done yourselves with this batch. Ill have to get some of that gold spray. But the data cubicles are my favorite. Data confessionals?
With the advent of high quality (cool looking) battle mats... I really want to see a surge in clear bases!
Clear bases look so much better on battlemats!!!
Bro i swear the DAY I get a filiment printer im joining your patreon
and remember kids if you can't find broken glass at your hobby store you can just break some of your household glass
Wearing tinted glasses and commenting on how nice the grey tones on your rocks looks nice 😅
1:19 he thought he could jungle his primer and we would let it slide 😂 impressive
wow the creativity
To be fair, my table is 15 yrs old and still going strong. It's 2 big chunks of inch think ply. Each 4' x 3'. Painted black, glued on some small stones and drybrush with some greys. Them varnished. May it last another 15!
Absolutely gorgeous and badass Table! You're doing God's work!
woah my man with some classic 3 camera action
That rubble: 🔥🔥🔥
I think Jay should try out Blood Bowl. As much as he loves skirmish games, I think he would love it. I'd even volunteer to paint teams for them if he would.
Jay's friends are the luckiest nerds on the planet, being able to play on these boards
Yeah if I were his friend I would be so happy
Jay can juggle?!? What can this man not do
Dude what gold are you using that is such a perfect finish. It really looks gold

Hey you and me both paint on the same folding card table from wally-world 😎
A proper battlefield for your Black Templar to crusade across.
Oh, you don't need to wait for the first primer to dry before the zenithal?
real supportive
jay with sunglasses is too swaggy
Jay: My minis are too dark!
Jay 5 seconds later: *Black oil wash*
😂😂😂
Jay, you glorious bastard, you made it: you created modular rubbles!
Painting the cap with the spray paint helps know exactly how it will look.
Excellent video!
In Our friend Group we have more Terrain than we could fill 3 Tabels with
Acquiring nice terrain is so tough. The pre-made stuff is expensive as all hell and I don’t have a large enough 3d printer to make it.
1:20 did not know he was that cool man I wish I was that cool 😢
Those fire balls are so cool
I love your color scheme, but I probably would've gone with a slightly yellowed-white for the paper. looks too clean for the bureaucracy of the imperium.
Nice Video as Always!😊
I’m glad you’re finally spraying outside. I’ve been worried about your brain.
We do this as houserule with non-exploded destroyed vehicles, sorta like in 5th/6thed
It did until 8th
lol about the pillow. I don’t need to get pillows for that…I have 3 dogs and a graveyard of stuffies…….they love them and destroy them.
Jay, make Sean mow your yard. And weed eat lol

Would broken glass not be dangerous to use?
Wait what happened to the video for the corpse starch factory board
th-cam.com/video/0IwsR4Di6BQ/w-d-xo.html
Holy shit… mow your LAWN!
Standing ovation* 🥲
We just use different coloured green, brown and grey felt.

Not so balanced, but very fun
“Making a board is kinda an afterthought” says the guy who releases the most outstanding and most imaginative terrain every month.
I'd love to have these boards but have no way to print it out myself of get it printed :(
So cool!
Are the printable files for members specifically for resin printers?
We test print in FDM and Resin. Some of the smaller accessories are characters might be a bit difficult on FDM, but the majority of stuff is printer friendly.
Amazing jay :)
you know what? That is a niiiiiiiice gold
I took personal that title... Don't you EVER talk to me or my $1,234 wargaming table 💀
Take this and have a good day, sir. 😤
Please do not airbrush oil paints unless you know the exact components!
Cadmium Red as well as some Blacks can be super cancerous if atomised for example.
I think you should paint your hey knights in a 7 day challenge @EonsOfBattles
where can i find a mat like that?
eons of battle viewers for 8 years: where battle report? A battle report on this board would be nice.
It is basically a roleplaying game… especially so for Killteam
I mean with gw prices all we can afford is going through our recycling and household stuff to use as terrain.
the main issue with priming grey on grey resin is its hard to tell what you've actually primed.
Excellent video!! Thank you :)

I like your chamel Jay. Good Stuff.
It’s funny to me that currently I am using a unfolded cardboard box as my mat lol
