Wow, what a GREAT video, thank you for taking the time to post this with easy-to-follow instructions! After all these years of having both DX8 gen 1 & DX9 I think I’m ready to utilize the wireless trainer function!! Thanks again & happy landings!

To reverse the trainer/slave thing I think you would have to copy the model info to an SD card and install that on the DX9. I've never tried doing it this way but think that would work. Just be sure to do a good control and range check!

Thank you very much Sir. This has been driving me mad for two days. Was beginning to think I was defective. Hurrah. Result. Rob from the UK.

Awesome thanks, this was considerably better than the Horizon video explanation, which pretty says "I've already set everything" and then just binds it..... Thanks so much.

Thanks for posting this video, now my 7 year old son can fly with his dx6 and I can fly with my dx9. Also i found that any auxiliary cable will work between transmitters, it doesnt have to be a spectrum cord.

best video explanation I have found so far.........Question: so it sounds like to set up my DX8 as the Master and DX6 as the Slave...my best option is to use the " Pilot link Master" option and not the " Programmable Master" option....because then my DX6 only needs a " generic " type model name in it, without setting up the entire program inside the DX6....is that correct?...thanks

Nice Video Sir, I know it’s 5 yrs old. I bought another DX9 so I can teach my brother how to fly a Helicopter. My question is, a blank model made on slave radio does it need to be airplane or helicopter specific? Or since it’s a blank model, it doesn’t matter if it’s on Acro? Thank you so much.

I don't really know. I always use the same model type in the slave radio as in the master and that has worked for me.

      @thintz12
Ok, thank you. What I’ll do is since the master is on helicopter I’m gonna do the same on the slave, for a blank model it’ll be on helicopter.

    Programmable Master option
    and Pilot link Maser option
please explain in more detail and give an example -
so are you saying with pilot option the student could give control of flaps, retracts etc
to himself but with Programmable only the instructor could give control ?
What about rates, expo and trim settings - who has control - student or instructor -
with Pilot link and with Programmable ???
Please help - I can't find anyone who knows - I even called Horizon Hobby and the
tech guy had no experience with trainer. Thank you

I have the DX7 gen 2. I used a two position switch for my trainer switch along with master over ride. I had a student in the air, and I took control using stick movement. I then flipped the switch, but he did not get the plane back. Do I need to flip the switch back and forth to give control back?

    • @chillville5571

Yes i had the same issue, you may need to flip the switch two times in a row to give control to the student.
