Is this the same monk who is on the radio station world Buddhist radio, ajahn brahmavamso? He sounds somewhat familiar but his speaking cadence is not quite the same as on the radio program.
A nice man but a simple man. Buddha taught 'no self' because everything changes, there is only impermanence, therefore he denied that there is a permanent unchanging 'Atman' (soul) that that can migrate from one body to another (that would be Hinduism). However Buddha never gave a straight answer to such questions, indeed he usually didn't answer them at all because it wasn't important, he taught how to overcome suffering in the here and now. Every moment of consciousness is a separate moment with no permanent being behind it. Rebirth is different from reincarnation, when something is born it is just born, only reincarnation needs Atman to incarnate again and again and that would insinuate permanence which goes against Buddhist teaching.
The 10 billion to two (you and that outside you) the two to one (the emptiness) and the one to............. Ha ha ha ha there goes your mind spinning away. Birth rebirth words words words. Just sit.
The fact we still only listen to male testimony on spiritual matters tells me not even Buddhism is safe from patriarchy. Btw, there are past lives and I have past life memories and found the people I had a past with. Some recognised me before, I did them.
black species have bad karma. It even made it worse in its life. We humans want to get out of Samsara, we have to learn how not to regress into something like a black. Terrible karma. We have the ability to move back into the heavenly beings!
