I love Ajahn Brahm. One rebuttal though: if you've ever heard footage of ACTUAL solitary confinement in a prison, at least in the USA, it is NOTHING LIKE a mediation retreat. Imagine a horror movie that takes place in one of those inhumane insane asylums of the 19th Century, and you're a LOT closer to reality. If you want to go into the depths of deep suffering, then go to solitary in a prison. It is NOT SILENT AT ALL. All around you, there's screaming, moaning, crying, sobbing, no temperature control, minimal food, sometimes there's barely enough room to stand, a toilet in the room with you.... if you can maintain your serenity in the midst of that, you are a virtuoso. Or a psychopath maybe? It seems like a better place for lojong practice than any other kind of practice.

In Germany, trainee lawyers are allowed in the autopsy room to learn about it.

      That's unusual

@noonespecial4171 Yes well, that way they know what autopsies can prove. Useful if you're a judge or defense counsel.
Same for law students in some states. I only attended the lectures, the were enough for me.
