Of course that is the case. All the big simulators are in reality very close to each other. It isn't like you are comparing them to Need For Speed. You can't tell the difference in a video that isn't even driving the cars on the limit.
Initial takeaways: Internal visuals is better in AMS2 (lighting/brightness, etc.). External looks better in LMU. Audio in AMS2 (cockpit) is more akin to what a driver would hear (earplugs + helmet).
LMU fixes two things for me... It is louder and the cockpit viewing angle is better (IMO). However, i think AMS2 is doing this intentionally to provide that cockpit "muffled" sound. Because from the chase cam, it is definitely louder than LM. This is me giving credit where credit is due because I'm loving AMS2.
Just a tip, you can actually adjust the cockpit view angle in ams 2. It is not in the regular "camera settings" menu for some reason. The setting is actually just on your keyboard, go to "controls" and look for the key bindings to cockpit angle or camera angle. If i remeber right they are assigned to your numbpad. When your in game, you can just use your keyboard to adjust the angle of camera in cockpit exactly like Assetto Corsa. I went like a year or two playing ams 2 not realizing that option was in the game lol, because it isn't in the normal camera menu. You can also move your seating position left and right with the keyboard too.
@BA-rh5hy You just hold CNTR with K, which will give access to modify the seat position WASD and the FOV NUM PAD -+. After finish editing, just press CNTR and K twice to go back to initial cam mode.
I hope you do more videos like this , such a tough choice , I prefer LMU , the car look more glossy on LMU but overall I give AMS 2 a slight edge in visuals
You know these are pretty much the same, dig around the forums and you'll find, the madness engine is a version of the rfactor engine meant to be more accessible. LMU is a further development of the pmotor engine.
I only wish AMS 2 fixes the tree colors in sebring, looks nothing like here in Florida. LMU does the trees better and looks more natural. However, at night sebring and certain daylight settings AMS 2 can look stunning. It gets the curbs also more right then LMU. In first sector the left hander before short straight is wrong in LMU, too wide and lenght wise too I think. Also at the end of sector one the yellow lines are too close to the curb. AMS 2 got this right.
LMU looks more glossy because of the weather, ams2 looks like overcast which would produce less reflections than heavy cloud(?) on Lmu (Personally I prefer ams, because glossiness on Lmu looks way too digital)
@@Racingfan101 I wish Reiza would fix the general colour palette and material reproduction in AMS 2, the trees especially look like they're made of plastic.
LMU is unmatched car physics for me. But AMS2 after 1.6 is also solid and it has great weather and dynamic track features. Both are great and its hard to chose one :)
@@mxracinguy5993 trees look cartoony to me. The worst part of AMS 2 graphics. Also the colors can be so weird and off at times. Sebring as example, can look stunning, but trees in florida dont look anything in daylight like AMS 2. Weird colors too. LMU trees look more real, but does get the track curbs and lines wrong compared to AMS 2.
@@Racingfan101hehe, you're one of these Trump worshipers, no matter how bad the guy is, you see him as a God. Your comments here prove this. Like, how can you justify 2D trees versus actual tree models? I relent: LMU is God. LMU can do no wrong, now let me get on my knees and worship it.
@mxracinguy5993 lol, I like both games. But well done 2d trees can look better than badly done 3d trees. Only Jesus is King 👑 for me and deserves worship.
@@Racingfan101 Fully agreed, AMS 2 can look spectacular in certain conditions (late afternoon with sunshafts filtering through the cockpit for instance), but I can't stand the artificial overall look the game has. Cartoony, plastic, fuzzy; hard to put into words precisely what impression I get from the visuals but it's unfortunately always been a big roadblock for immersion. Shame, because it's got loads of interesting content and the 1.6 update definitely improved the 'feel' of the cars.
Honestly great job from reiza. Although some say that the sim isn't quite at the level as others. It is still very close with this update. And when the tires are in a good temp. The bite is quite nice just like other sims
LMU sebring tarmac is too dark compared to real1 and the car is too shiny :D but LMU seems sharper. Both drive exellent and it the only important thing :P
To me both are lacking in audio. LMU sounds too "weak", especially in shifting. AMS2 sounds weirdly muffled. Though this applies to every car in each game.
@@namesii1880 that's one thing I used to constantly say about Gran Turismo(especially in replay mode) back when I played console racers. Not only muffle, but flybys in Gran Turismo were often "quiet" with cars u KNOW were beasts from the loads of irl footage, came by and sounded like little babies
I love LMU but AMS 2....maybe not as realistic but for sure more immersive and fun! The new trecks are so much fun! Specially Road to Atlanta. Now we need the Acura Hypercar, Ferrari and Detroit Track.
@@boncegt4 yeah I do, as you look to the track ahead, the next curbs, flow of the track, that's always affected by AA/ texture popping as the texture gets closer to you
I think AMS 2 sounds closer to IRL onboard, however LMU is not that far off. I just think the latter sounds a bit 'thin'. Replay sounds, like during fly-by, they're both pretty good.
LMU is way better, but now ams2 is really good. with RR LFM, RENNSPORT release, EVO upcoming, IRACING tyres update, and now ams2 updates, best year for simracing by far💯
Have you looked at AMS2’s track collection? It’s huge and includes tracks we don’t get on any otherSim. As well as incredible historical versions. I’m just a bit surprised by your comment.
It's only natural that Le Mans Ultimate should fare better, since it's limited in the number of vehicles and circuits, like an ACC. On mans ultimate, you can feel the difference between each hypercar very easily, whereas on AMS2 it's much less obvious! There's a reason for this, and it's obviously the time spent building a car. A hypercar takes 3 months to build. That's why we're still waiting for the GT3s, which will be released in dribs and drabs.
Just the fact that the same wheel inputs yield same car reactions in both games is a testament to how amazing the 1.6 update is
Or simracing titels of today in general
