  • Brief overview of my Mayflower UW Gen IV chest rig. This was taken just before my first outing with it. Overall it’s a great chest rig and is rightly praised.

    Our setups are pretty dang close. I swapped out the bungee retention for Esstac kydex inserts, bungee has been my worst enemy for reindexing mags. Where you keep your snacks, I keep my radio. Chem sticks, headlamp pouches are the same. I keep an extra pistol mag where you keep your light, but I have my light on the pouch right next to it. I keep my leatherman, bit kits, lighter, pocket and a film container with Vaseline soaked cotton balls on the pouch right next to that. Tourniquet is in the same spot. And on the right far far pouch I have 2 more pmags. I keep my IFAK and maps in a S.A.C.K dangler pouch because I hate small of the back belt mounted med kits and when running this a placard (works really well with HSP side retention system buckles) I cannot pull out my maps from that admin pouch to save my life. Have you ever run this as a placard on plate carrier and have the issues with not getting your hand in the admin pouch without the Shaw concepts doodad on there?

    • @freddyt86
      @freddyt86  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t run this as a placard. Don’t intend to right now. I have another placard for my plate carrier. I can see it being a pain though.

      Which height esstac kydex inserts did you get for the rig? Looks like theres a short, mid, and tall.

    • @bf4chode2
      @bf4chode2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joshspurrier6289 I believe they are the mids. No way are they the talls though because the shorts are only really good for the shorter kywi pouches which only cover half of the mag at best.

    Great Video! I have the Mayflower Pusher Chest rig which is the convertible model that allows the use of 7.62NATO, 556 NATO and 7.62 PACT magazine to be carried and I like allot now once I upgraded the Shoulder Straps with Hailey Strategic D3CR REPLACEMENT X-HARNESS and while I was added also upgraded the bungie tabs with SHOCK CORD PULL TABS because I noticed that the Mayflower do get pretty slick when they get wet and I found out about it during a class and I ended up cutting the bungie off with my knife to keep it out of the way.

      So far I’ve found the harness to be very comfortable, but everyone is different. Personally, I don’t think this rig is big enough to need the wider straps. It can’t hold enough to make it that heavy. My 2¢.

      Its too late now but they'll sell you ranger green stuff with the ultra comp, you just have to call or email them to place the order. They don't show the ultra comp as an option with the ranger green stuff because it is a slightly different color, I imagine people got it and complained about it so they got tired of giving refunds or dealing with it. Personally the slight difference in color looks sick. Hope this helps!

    Hey Freddy why did you go with the Gen IV over the Gen VI? And what harness straps are you running ?

    • @freddyt86

      The Gen VI is the Pusher chest rig, which is bigger than the UW. This rig is great for my use which is mostly walking around my property. Allows me to carry the items in the video which is about all I need. The outside pouches can hold about a 20oz bottle so I’ve added that so I at least have some with me. The straps came with the rig.
