    Great video Adam; very comprehensive. As an ex-Rhodesian serviceman 75-78, it still amazes me that most guys don't do anything to camouflage their wristwatches, which will often glint brightly in sunlight. We always used leather watchstraps with a flap that covered the face and a snap fastener to keep it in place. Pain to have to pop the cover to see the watch, but it definitely removed any possibility of reflection giving your position away. That's why we also started painting our rifles.

    I used the Alice setup in the USMC infantry, hiking and big game hunting in New Mexico, Az, mountains, deserts, 29 Palms, Okinawa, and it works great. I have found chest rigs suck in general, and would not want to use one patrolling, esp in hot weather. It’s more comfy to carry all that weight on the hips instead of on the shoulders.

      Surplus is a good source. Don't use some of those older ones from the 1950s or earlier; they have those old 60mm filters that have asbestos in them.
      I have an unissued M9A1 gas mask that had one of those filters. I ordered a 60 mm to 40 mm adapter, so I can now mount a 40 mm NATO filter on it. The M-17 is good, but the twin cheek filters are a bear to change.

      I will agree with you there. I bought some mountaineering shoes recently (for high/alpine)... Wanted some full leather ones, as I much prefer it generally in all my footwear, but they simply don't exist anymore. Virtually every manufacturer is adding gtx or their own substitute. Settled for a Scarpa boot and so far I like it a lot. The membranes are a lot better than they used to be and the waterproofness came in handy more than I expected (morning dew, streams etc). I have sweaty feet but so far it's been ok.

    Regarding the analog vs digital discussion; In many cases, having digital available is a boon. Especially if you are working within some kind of officially sanctioned organization. (Military, Reserves, Police, PMC, etc) However, you have to remember that the electronic gear, especially if civilian grade, makes you trackable. Now when working in an organization this is a boon. You know where your guys are and they know where you are. If you get hurt you can be quickly found and rescued, etc.
    But when working outside an organization, especially if you are preparing for a SHTF or Civil War type of situation, being trackable by authorities who may not have your best interests at heart is not something you want. Alternately, in an area like Ukraine, where we have already seen the Russians use geopositional tracking on smartphones to land "warheads on foreheads" of the western volunteers who didn't turn off their phones. So planning around having electronics available and working with just analog gear is an important skill to have and be proficient at.

    • @nakievzamir9796
      @nakievzamir9796 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Ukrainian junta did the same, I confirm. A modern smartphone is a tracking device, but it is necessary for many reasons. The globalists, by the way, forced many Western Ukrainians to fight for the People's Republics against the puppet government of Ukraine, so your recommendations to use analog equipment are more relevant to them than to the forces of the globalists

    Personally I like neckband hearing protection. It just means I can wear it even without helmet, and if for some reason I take off helmet for while, I would still have hearing protection on if I want to. And to be fair I would generally also want low cut helmet, so this setup wouldn't work anyways. It just offers more protection. I think low cut is really only advantageous to some SF or more technical jobs, where you are still required to wear helmet but not that likely face combat. Obviously you can find other niches as well, but I think overall most soldiers should go for low cut.

    Former 18B here from the 90's. I bring that up to say I get it!
    You guys and other Gun Porn channels live in a different reality than most U.S. Citizens. You and other entities have obviously made different choices in life to afford you the ability to have all this specialized and expensive gear.
    Wall lockers in the background filled with thousands of dollars worth of kit.1,200.00 Ballistic helmets, Mauls, Noveske rifles, 3,000.00 dollars LPVO's, Eotechs and magnifiers, Mod lights, 600.00 hearing protection, 600.00 Crye Precision outfit ...... etc, etc, etc.
    The reality is, most of us (perhaps due to poor choices in life) at best, are going to have foam hearing protection, Aero precision or PSA builds, Boonie/patrol caps, and a thumb activated 80.00 surefire GX2 mounted as a weapon light. Most are going to have Iron sighted rifles wearing Real Tree Camo.
    Most of us will be lucky to save up for an ACOG or put stuff on a nearly maxed out Credit Card.
    The information you put out is valuable and informative! However, there is a extreme disconnect between what actual people can afford and the fantasy you sell.
    Most of us don't work for Law Enforcement making 80K or more a year. Nor have most worked in some sort of SOF unit then went on to work as a contractor, OGA or GRS making thousands of dollars to then go on and start up a business selling kit or training LEO's across the U.S. to become more effective at taking away our God given rights.
    I understand you gain nothing by putting out content applicable to people who can't afford your kit.
    I'm just saying that you guys live in a different reality.

    • @woodrowcall3158
      @woodrowcall3158 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Everyone lives in the same reality, some people just have different perspectives.
      Average citizens can afford and value good kit, and that kit may benefit them in the future to come.
      Many people in Ukraine would have loved to have access to good kit and weaponry in 2010. Many people in Louisiana and Mississippi would have benefited from good kit in 2005.
      The best advances in infantry kit and small arms follows civilian development.

      It’s just information. Each person/unit will have to make budgetary decisions on purchases that make the most sense for them. There is also an active military audience to the channel, not just civilians… The fact is a LOT of civilians have NODS, lasers, and thermal, including thermal drones. Some people value those capabilities enough to justify purchasing them.

      @EathenRice ปีที่แล้ว

      You know, man, I agree with you 100% here, but being disappointed in the state of things can only get you so far when it comes down to this channel is inspiring people, maybe to get into the community, maybe to be motivated to make better financial discussions, but really like I said overall I agree with what you are saying and us guys that know there needs to be change need to stand up!

    • @alankordzikowski7670
      @alankordzikowski7670 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with you; I watch these various channels, and see their gear. I always ask myself, “why the heck are they worried about IR strobes, and comms as if they’re going to be calling in air support?” “Why are they running and gunning like they’re part of seal team 6 with an unlimited budget and airdrop resupply?”
      The $1200 helmets, and $10,000 NVG’s and plate carriers and lasers, and the radios are all well and good. But you nailed it, the reality is most people will be lucky to have some mil surplus web belt, maybe a ammo pouch, and a basic AR with a red dot. We can’t all be tricked out like a Navy Seal. Most of us are just going to be surviving.
      Of course you could have all this Gucci gear and get picked off within the first 5 mins of SHTF by some Hunter with a Walmart moss oak camo, and grandpa’s bolt action rifle.
      I think these channels are sending the wrong message to the pro2a, SHTF, self defense peepers. Training is certainly important, and I think a lot of people should take a look at some of their old Boy Scout hand books (the ones from the 50’s and 60’s have a ton of information about stalking and patrolling). You don’t need all the high speed gear. There’s a lot that can be done with simple equipment.

      @@alankordzikowski7670 the Mossy Oak hunter might be Ok….. until it gets dark, then the guys with the $10,000 NVGs will absolutely have the advantage and the amount of civilians who have NVGs, and thermal capabilities is much higher than you might think. The baseline equipment people have has definitely changed… But thats besides the point. These videos are not just for civilians, they are intended to be resources for Active Duty military as well, thats why a lot of stuff in this and our Machine Gunner load out video may seem excessive to the civilian, but are real capabilities for those still doing the job. People with a basic rifle and basic loadout can still be effective, but there is no denying the major advantages some of these technologies provide. If you can’t see in the dark, the other people who can will own the night.

    Enjoyed the video but I think you should go into specifics on what this particular kit would be used for. You mention the Khaki pants and tee shirt to "blend in", so I'm thinking this is more a shtf loadout, but then u pull out a handheld IR laser I'm I'm left wondering when the hell you would use that in this type situation...Not gonna be communicating with aircraft in a shtf. I'm not military, just trying to be a prepared civilian and my loadout (work in progress too), has way less stuff. I just picture myself and any friends doing things like neighborhood patrol, hunting, maybe a small mission to go get someone or something, defending against a gang, etc, but I just see this whole loadout you have as something you would have on you for some military op or something. Just coming for ideas, and I'm not 100percent squared away, but pretty damn close too. Thanks man.

      You don’t need it unless you’re talking to aircraft or manning a heavy weapon at night.
      Even in today’s age where NVGs are super proliferated they’re not a great idea. Unless the gig is already up or part of a no comms plan. They’re an excellent way to get noticed by everyone. Friendlies and enemies alike.

    As a "barefoot guy", I can't agree more about the boot section. I do all my runs and workouts barefoot or in minimalist shoes, but once I start adding on 35lbs or more, I've found good boots to be indispensable for rucks, larping, and other shenanigans.
    You can absolutely hike a 50lb pack 12 miles in Earth Runner sandals, but your feet fatigue much, much faster; and when fatigue builds, so does the chance of injury.

    • @beatsbyry

      @@beatsbyrynot the guy you're asking, but the whole argument against 'normal' shoes as I understand it is that they're too supportive in daily life and prevent your feet from strengthening naturally as you walk.
      In extraordinary, potentially life amd death circumstances, carrying more weight than you're used to, why not have the extra support? If you're regularly barefoot it's a supplement, not a crutch.

    • @andrewrobinson4019
      @andrewrobinson4019 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@beatsbyry
      You absolutely can work up to that distance and weight (my misadventure was, in short, a result of poor planning on my part); but what it comes down to is how much time do you have to dedicate to training specifically for that versus training for everything else and balance that with the risk of injury (as is present in all programming).
      If your primary goal is to do all your rucks unshod/minimal then that's what you should train for--working up distance and weight incrementally. But for me, personally, I find running marathons more comfortable in sandals, and my big rucks more comfortable in boots (especially when there's lots of shale rock involved).
      So I'd say: train for what you need and what your goals are. And most importantly, cardio doesn't kill gains, cowardice kills gains.
      Also there are more minimalist combat boots coming to market which might split the difference. I haven't tried any, yet, but it's on my list.

    I use M81 because I can buy two sets of BDU's for the price of one set of OCP scorpion. It is not a fashion contest! Out there...I don't give two turds if I look "cool" or not! If you are just dying to spend money...buy better force multipliers [thermal, NV, etc.] Agree that commonality [settling on one pattern] is important...otherwise confusion and problems ensue.

    • @MochiMoose

      That’s probably a pack item. As a civilian, it’s probably also not something everyone on your team needs. Maybe one for every two people. The ones who don’t carry an e-tool in their pack can substitute that weight savings for something else your team may need but also doesn’t have to be on every team member, just depends on your mission.

      We standardized our platoon loadout to be our etool mounted upside down on the bottom left molle field of our ruck, balanced by a 2qt on the bottom right.
      Even beyond trench fighting and battle positions, everyone needs to shit in the field, and everyone needs a way to bury it.
