Nice effort from Connie - one of her singles from the 80's and I was disappointed that it didn't do a little better on the Country Pop Charts ~ in fact, correct me if I am wrong but there weren't many new records coming from her in the 80's and I really thought that there would be ~
I was surprised at Connie 's voice on this song. After hearing her sing I'm me again from her a year earlier I thought she couldn't sing like this again. But she sounds here like she did from the 50's and 60's.
You are correct. MGM had dropped her contract in 1969 and she was getting over a lot of personal problems but still doing concerts. I like this song. It definitely charted higher. It's a little autobiograpical. Nothing Connie did was bad. Some better than others but none that were truly bad. I've loved her since I was 10 years old.
The B side might have been a better choice, Let's make it Love Tonight written by Dolly Parton's brother. This one was written by her long-time friend and song writer, Howie Greenfield.

This song is a good b-side since its more of a hey I'm getting back on my feet. We already had that with I'm me again. Let's make it love tonight would have charted very well. It's a song everyone pretty much can relate to.
