new to radios. will i be able to talk to coast gurd on ch16. i am looking for a basic radio in case of emergencies for when i am fishing and boating, i am in San Francisco CA area. if i stall out in the bay need to be able to get help, USCG is less then 5 miles from where i usually go. if you have a better product or ideas, PLEASE tell me. Thank you, Dan
@ Does you 18 year old have Ham Radio Experience? There are a lot of features and settings on these radios. But that is nothing a TH-cam video won’t remedy.
@@rigadan I haven’t messed with Marine radios very much but Motarola and Kenwood are too very good brands. But definitely something that is IP 67 rated.
How do you make these radios work long range? I am dead confused and getting really frustrated on how to get these radios to work. I can only get less than a quarter of a mile range on these radios and I'm getting upset on how these radios should work. I have been googling everything and there are no sources. It's really pissing me off. PLEASE HELP!!
I only have one of this model so far. I have a second video dropping on Thursday but it will not answer all of these questions until I can get ahold of a second radio. The fist two Baofeng's with GPS that i did the video's on would not pass the data through a repeater so it ay never happen until they fix that.
@HamRadioCrusader ok. I wasn't sure what all I'm missing, because they advertised it to where it reaches 100 miles, but I can't get any range. I even did the firmware update on them and set high frequency on the channels and still nothing. I'm not sure if I'm missing any other device to call home frequency, or what I'm missing, but it's aggravating. I'm able to pick up FM radio signals, which are long range, but nothing radio call wise. I already sent an email out to them, because I'm getting irritated.
@@djoverspingaming2733 How do you expect to get 100 miles? These are 8W handheld radios. Also you do know that these are HAM radios right? You need a HAM license to transmit. I'm not exactly sure what you are using these for?
Such type of the cheap radios has no any filters and use direct conversion. If you trying to use the radio close to the powerful broadcast radios or police station or something like that, you could get a such results. Because the receiver of the radio affected by a signal which is close to the working band of the radio, and loosing the sensitivity.
I'm as fresh as whole bean coffee in the grinder to ham radio. 😆. I decided on this model as a starter. Also, after searching TH-cam for a ham radio influencer, I have chosen you at the moment! Any videos for beginners/prepping for disasters with a family?
I think that screen and font styles are on point. Could be bigger for us blind folks, but I like it.
I have heard that this radio comes with wideband TX already enabled. Is that correct? Surprised the FCC is okay with that!
Once you have DTMF turned on in the menu, press the # key to enter DTMF typing. It transmits on whatever band you have selected.
I'm using a Radioddity RD-371 Tri-Band Antenna on my BF-F8HP

Get a job and you could afford a decent radio.
You must designate a radio as #1 and the other as #2 through the ANI menu.
@@bulldogbrower6732 yup did that. But the format of data they are sending are different from the other model.
Is there a part 2 yet?
