    I danced to this song with my wife in her hospital room the day before she died. I chose it because she wanted me to continue in life and be the same man I was the past 26 years we were together. I've tried but that was a man I'll never be again

      Excuse me, I'm not from your first world or English speaking, but as an old musician I will tell you that Brad Delp has always been one of the best Rock singers in history and John Lawton one of the best Hard Rock expressionists. His big problem is having been superior to other established vocalists in famous bands in the music industry, the hypocrisy of the bourgeois Punk fashion and the aesthetic and sound dictatorship of the 80's destabilized and harmed the bands of these wonderful singers, in the case of Staley it was the unique of the hateful Grunge good to listen to, honestly
      He deserved to be in a better and good heavy band, in my opinion, the Kurt Cubain era contributed more in visual digitalization and was extremely disposable musically. Regarding Delp and Lawton, my heart knows that they have never been underestimated, rather they have been envied.

    • @mikee2923
      @mikee2923 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@rafaeldossantos4791 What I mean by underrated is when supposed “experts” on the subject never bring up his name when talking about the best vocalists. Even the casual rock fan knows Robert Plant was the lead vocalist for Led Zeppelin and Freddy Mercury was the lead vocalist for Queen. Although Boston didn’t have quite the catalog of songs of either, very few could even tell you Brad Delp was Boston’s vocalist. I know that Boston isn’t as popular as either, but Boston’s debut album has had more airplay on radio than any album in the history of rock. And EVERY Boston song that Brad sang was a vocal masterpiece. But real fans of rock music such as yourself do indeed know the truth. I also kinda get your comments about Layne but Alice In Chains is a very highly respected band despite being a Grunge band. Their album Dirt is widely regarded as a masterpiece in rock history.

    • @rafaeldossantos4791
      @rafaeldossantos4791 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mikee2923
      We continue with the same problem then, Grunge was more fashion than music, it consisted of putting a young model dressed in a lumberjack shirt posing in front of a camera while the press overrated them with myths of heavy drug use so that the fans would crown them as if They were Jim Morrison, but musically they were totally mediocre, today nobody remembers Grunge (Luckily) but Brad Delp does.

    • @mikee2923
      @mikee2923 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@rafaeldossantos4791 You say you don’t live in the US. Drug addiction was a main component of most Grunge music. Layne Staley’s drug use was notorious. Alice In Chains masterpiece album Dirt was mainly songs written about drug addiction. Kurt Cobain of Nirvana, widely regarded as the king of Grunge was also a notorious drug user. These musicians weren’t models dressed like lumberjacks. Most of them were never considered sex symbols. They dressed like they did because of where they were from. Grunge was based in Seattle, Washington in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. This was how most people dressed that lived there. Also the Grunge era followed the hair metal trend that dominated American music during much of the 1980s and they wanted to distinguish themselves from that era and briefly took rock music in a new direction. Their songs were mainly about drug addiction, loneliness and being outcasts where most 80s music revolved around sex and partying. Grunge was the exact polar opposite of hair band pop metal music. Popular music in the United States is usually influenced by the mood and feelings of the young generation. To be brutally honest, the 1980s was the last period of optimism in the United States. It has steadily gone downhill since then. I’m 55 and I feel sorry for the youth of today. What we called the American dream is basically out of reach to most young people today. They have been brainwashed into believing our country is evil and needs to be destroyed. They will eventually vote in more socialism and eventually communism at which point the United States will cease to exist.

      I was 14 and had a crush, Brad Delp brother of Wendy my friend. He and his band would practice in his barn at his family's home on Conant Street in Danvers Massachusetts. Approaching his house with Wendy I could hear them playing and wanted to sit there for hours to listen. I also lived and grew up in Danvers. He was so handsome when he was a young man with such great talent even then. He became even more handsome as he got older. I thought...he's going places, and he certainly did. I cried when I heard we lost him. He is sorely missed by all that he touched with his music and his love for life. He lived it well. We miss you!

    Amazing that a rock song written almost 50 years ago, can still be so moving and inspiring. The songwriting, tone, musicianship, harmonies, and vocals were way ahead of its time. And for all this to be done by two young men in their makeshift recording studio in a downstairs residential basement blows my mind. First two albums were runaway hits! Tom Scholz and Brad Delp were a match made in Heaven. Incredible albums that are still on continual radio airplay to this day. This tells you how good the music of Boston really is…

      I'm in RI, 64 years old, here's what changed around the late 70's, the production of the first albums of Boston, Foreigner, and Kansas was just so sharp, so crisp...you listen to every song on Foreigner's first album, they are incredible songs...heck, even Styx was real musicians, talented musicians making real quality music. Check out "crystal ball" live by Styx back in the day, presently, I've seen Halestorm live four times, Lzzy without a doubt is queen of female vocals, better than Benatar and slightly better than Ann Wilson in her prime, they kick ass.👍💣🔥

    “A man I’ll never be”. It’s that moment of self-honesty when you realize that all those crazy dreams from your youth are just never gonna come true. You’ll never be that rock star, or movie star. You’ll never get that PHD, or probably ever be rich. The possibilities seem to dry up as we get older. All you can realistically do is continue working towards retirement, accumulate smiles, and drink as many beers as possible. You transfer your hopes and dreams on to your grandchildren. It was a very humbling experience indeed..😊
