If it really were going to be the end of SteamDeck, Valve should just revamp/revitalize their own official brand new SteamMachine because they already have an OS fully capable of it, implement controls/mechanics that SteamDeck already has, etc..... Hell, they can build in SteamDeck controller support (WiFiDirect, direct, BlueTooth or whatever) and be able to sort of have dual or possibly companion mode(s) if necessary between screens for if you're browsing store, UI or something and figure out what you're doing on which screen. It's basically be sort of Wii U concept, set aside high likely not many games in general support a dual or companion mode. That's something consoles in general could be doing in the future, companion accessories, to encourage/influence that type of play for smaller tasks to be hassle-free.
Dude people were talking about the switch to like immediately after the switch one came out so this is nothing new. I will say it's very annoying though that TH-camrs do that.
I say no, because these Articles never take into Consideration that half the Reason people play new games on Console is because all you have Access to on Console is that Generation of Consoles's Games. On Steam you have Acess to Games from the last 20 years plus 90s Classics. Yeah their Old Games but the Steam Library alone is absolutely Massive compared to any Console's Library.
I never understand why he never takes in consideration the legion of gamers that enjoy the Deck for those reasons alone. No one can possibly be picking up the Deck to play only new releases only to be frustrated later. Go buy a PC, console or other myriad of Windows portable devices released annually for that. Valve is thriving fine where they're at now.
steam deck is pretty flexible, you can adjust the settings to get most games to work pretty well. I'm sure with the right settings you can get FFXVI and Space Marine 2 to run decently considering the steam deck is a portable system. I think it's also great for playing tons of old games that many people enjoy replaying, so there is still more than enough games for anybody to play already existing.
Valve has no reason to rush a new release, 2027 seems plausible. All this predictions is rediculous. Switch has shown you can leave the hardware alone for a long time now.

the steam deck Oled is just too good I refuse to buy anything else. I will just dual boot it so I can play AAA games. I don't need the craziest fps I just don't care. Asus makes the worst quality products which made me go with the Steamdeck OLED.
i didn't buy the steam deck with modern games in mind, i bought it to play 2000-2012 era games on the go, and it does its job beautifully. if i want to play modern & demanding games, i'll do so on my pc.
I have a respectful request: I bought a couple of docks for steam deck Oled & ROG ally (primary - - 6in1 multi function dock by Jsaux) you recommended. Do you know how to update so that it will out PD output over 100 watts (or allow 30w plug 🔌 in for ROG Ally).

I look at Steam Deck as my Switch Pro. I don't need it to give me desktop quality graphics... That's what I have a desktop for. But I can't take my desktop in the train with me to work.
What I realised is I don't want a windows handheld. Proton is often much better at playing old games, and there are so many versions available that you'll always find something that will play nice. Can't say the same about the newest versions of windows. And when you wrap your head around how proton prefixes are just instances of windows emulation, getting launchers like gog or uplay to work is extremly easy.
I think theyll support it for a long time even after deck 2. They might not even go with the 2, 3 etc name since its a pc I hope they have it together when it comes to reliability of hardware. Ive had issues with my shoulder buttons since launch. Fixed it myself but now its back 😅
Games where you can uninstall the higher resolution textures both save you a lot of space and perform a lot better for 720/800p handheld gaming. We made no effort to optimize this for PC and/or handheld gaming shouldn't be an excuse. Do you really need hundreds of NPCs both loaded and moving in the distance that you can't ever interact with while on the go? Guess you'd need like a QA team or something to test if removing those changed the gameplay too much.
steam deck can't be done loll just look at the switch its way older and less powerful hardware and it's still selling strong and new games still coming out. so the steam deck will last for a while if devs make all games steam deck ready
Just got a Steam Deck oled in the last month, and it's made me completely abandon my Series S and Switch. I still have my PS5 for anything with massive file sizes and intense graphic requirements, but the Deck has been my go-to for smaller-scale games, old and new.
I have 166 games in my Steam library backlog. When I run out of games that CAN run on the Steam Deck, I'll worry about what holo/matrix cyber-steam deck to buy! 🤣
Got it! so don’t buy steam deck OLED just yet. Wait another year. I’ve been patient enough and I believe I can wait a little more. Let’s just hope it’s available by summer of 2025
i would love the steam deck two to have a chip like the base PS5, giving you the option to burn your battery life IF you wanted, have a toggle to go from Max battery life to Max performance mode. i wouldnt mind spending 1k+ on a steam deck like that.. they could have two SKUs, one standard (and cheaper) and one that can burn battery and play current games locked at 60 fps.
We'll see how well Saber/Focus optimizes Space Marine 2 on the deck later this year. If they can do it then any game can be optimized for SD. It's just a matter of wanting to do it.
I don't know where you're getting that the steam deck is falling behind still playing starship troopers extermination with persistent bug corpses, and it's running about 30 frames average very playable very enjoyable on the go The steam deck is incredibly underrated
I'm a big fan of Lossless Scaling for frame generation, even at 30 fps (sometimes under in games like Enshrouded) on my Legion Go. You're not wrong about there being some ghosting/artifacting issues, but the input lag on 2x hasnt bothered me at all, at least for single player games. Maybe its the 21st century version of your blissful ignorance of frame drops on the Vita, but I'm happy dealing with some artifacting to be able to turn up the details and resolution on my handheld 🙂
The steam deck will always have a place, if anything you’ll be able to use it just as an emulation machine. My next handheld pc will be a steam deck “2” or whatever they call it.
I really don't need a more powerful handheld, because if I'm going to be playing games cranked all the way up to the max it's going to be on my desktop PC, I've got bazzite installed on it and it's connected to a somewhat okay TV, all I'm really missing now is a nice comfortable recliner chair. Maybe later on I'll consider getting a nicer TV like an LG c3 or something when it goes on sale, I can definitely feel the difference in input lag on the TV compared to my monitor
I just got my steam deck OLED today, buy I’m not looking to play super high end games, just a lot of older games, like MGS5, and Melty Blood, etc.. So, for now I’ll just enjoy those things until Switch 2 comes along.
There’s better channels that touch base on more steam deck news. He’s biased about the news of certain games he doesnt play so he doesn’t even bother to mention them. His fan base is pretty toxic too. I told him about rockstar games cutting ties with Linux making GTA online unplayable, but he ignored it and only liked the comments of people saying “He’s not going to make videos like everyone else.” So I unsubbed immediately
Who put it anyone's mind that the Deck was a fully loaded PC. No one should be buying it replace a standalone PC and every new release. Go buy a PC, console or burn your money on ROG or another Windows handheld on annual release. Valve doesn't need to be in this race and are doing a fine job of tempering their releases until significant advancement is made. Deck not doing it for you, there are other options.
@@DeckReady Yeah, but it's 2024, and developers are lazy to optimize since all these frame gen solutions are available. And for a handheld it doesn't look too bad.
Steam Deck is not dying. It's a very repairable peace of computer with thumbsticks that runs an open source os. you can instal whatever the heck you want on it. So bascically it's useable forever. Maybe you won't play AAA games on it in 2030. But lately indie games were boomin. Try some of them they're fun and don't require you having a NASA Computer that needs a small nuclear reactor to run
I played space marine 2 on my deck start to finish and I got 25-30fps and it was a great way to play it the fps wasn't great but it was consistent and I think that helps alot
I don’t have another console or good PC except for my Steam Deck OLED. I do have a lot of money saved up, but I’m holding off on buying a super high quality and advanced PC until most games coming out that I actually want to play can’t play on a Steam Deck. Some still play, with most of the ones I’m most interested in working quite well on the deck. I’m currently playing Persona 3 Reload, and if you turn off reflections then it runs wonderfully on the deck. I didn’t get to play any PS4 or Xbox 1 games from last generation. I’ve got a lot of games to play until I need to upgrade.
How did you know steam deck oled will die in 2025 valve never said they will remove steam deck in 2025 and deck oled still young They can downgrade ps5 games and make it can run in steam deck same as psp day's with ps2 I remembered in 2022 when youtubers said 2023 or 2024 will be the end of deck , remembered deck is pc and he can be used not on game's only
Do you understand that the difference between getting and OS to run on one specific set of hardware, like a handheld vs all the random desktop builds out there? I can see where valve / steam are coming from, especially given the demand for each.
@@DeckReady And I'm sure they still will eventually. But while doing that you can realise it for set hardware a much shorter time.. What. point. Are. You. Making? If they had said "In a year" then I'd get your point, but they didn't. They haven't said they're not doing it, you said that yourself.

What I realised is I don't want a windows handheld. Proton is often much better at playing old games, and there are so many versions available that you'll always find something that will play nice. Can't say the same about the newest versions of windows.
And when you wrap your head around how proton prefixes are just instances of windows emulation, getting launchers like gog or uplay to work is extremly easy.
should have titled this: the end of optimizations.
I think theyll support it for a long time even after deck 2. They might not even go with the 2, 3 etc name since its a pc
I hope they have it together when it comes to reliability of hardware. Ive had issues with my shoulder buttons since launch. Fixed it myself but now its back 😅
3:47 - 4:06 I totally agree!
I think the Deck will be kicking for another few years, the OLED was just to reassure it'll last by giving it a bit of a boost.
Let’s just hope it’s available by summer of 2025
If you install windows on the Steam Deck, it runs everything great.
Why don’t they just make one solid console that will last 30 years for all but idk I guess people like spending 700 every 2 years on a new console
i would love the steam deck two to have a chip like the base PS5, giving you the option to burn your battery life IF you wanted, have a toggle to go from Max battery life to Max performance mode. i wouldnt mind spending 1k+ on a steam deck like that.. they could have two SKUs, one standard (and cheaper) and one that can burn battery and play current games locked at 60 fps.
We'll see how well Saber/Focus optimizes Space Marine 2 on the deck later this year. If they can do it then any game can be optimized for SD. It's just a matter of wanting to do it.
I believe in them
Steam deck 2 then can dock with a full gpu would be amazing!
That’d be awesome, if they got usb 4.0 or an oculink port
@@christianr.5868 even usb c thunderbolt should work too
I don't know where you're getting that the steam deck is falling behind still playing starship troopers extermination with persistent bug corpses, and it's running about 30 frames average very playable very enjoyable on the go The steam deck is incredibly underrated
I would love to see a motherboard upgrade available for OLED SD1's
I never used the track pad 😂
its so good!
Jimmy is Tech Ready on this one!
I hope you get that Play Button. This channel has really helped me get the most out of my steam deck. Thanks for that. 👍🏼
There’s better channels that touch base on more steam deck news. He’s biased about the news of certain games he doesnt play so he doesn’t even bother to mention them. His fan base is pretty toxic too. I told him about rockstar games cutting ties with Linux making GTA online unplayable, but he ignored it and only liked the comments of people saying “He’s not going to make videos like everyone else.” So I unsubbed immediately
yet here you are
@@DeckReady Exactly my point, lol you’re a tool.
Ratchet and Clank,Demon souls and Returnal are really just locked behind a ps5 gate... they're not really next gen games
Here because of Summon Sign. Great stuff you got going on here and on your other channels
Thanks, love being on that show
I have the oled steam deck. If they release a steam deck 2 in 2025.
I will be all on it!
I would just love an Steam Controller 2 and officially release valve hardware officially in Brazil and LATAM.
Seeing as how I bought my first Steam Deck (OLED model) this past Friday I would say the Steam Deck 2 is imminent 😅
Haha I think you’re good for a couple years
For Space Marine there is a FSR mod that allows it to run it at 60fps
Its frame gen which isn’t worth using
@@DeckReady Yeah, but it's 2024, and developers are lazy to optimize since all these frame gen solutions are available. And for a handheld it doesn't look too bad.
This guy just baits us in every video. It works but damn how do u keep people.
It’s not even bait lol I literally talk about the title and thumbnail
Steam Deck is not dying. It's a very repairable peace of computer with thumbsticks that runs an open source os. you can instal whatever the heck you want on it. So bascically it's useable forever. Maybe you won't play AAA games on it in 2030. But lately indie games were boomin. Try some of them they're fun and don't require you having a NASA Computer that needs a small nuclear reactor to run
man if only you watched the video before commenting
If the Steam Deck 2 will be able to play FF16 flawlessly, thatll be my sole reason to get it.
Gonna be tough
@@DeckReady but if it works then that's a big payoff
Valve should release a Steam Deck mini. (with ftont cam)
I played space marine 2 on my deck start to finish and I got 25-30fps and it was a great way to play it the fps wasn't great but it was consistent and I think that helps alot
I doubt the steam deck is going anywhere it won’t end it’s made a lot of money for valve and has been the best piece of gaming tech I’ve ever owned
How did you know steam deck oled will die in 2025 valve never said they will remove steam deck in 2025 and deck oled still young
They can downgrade ps5 games and make it can run in steam deck same as psp day's with ps2 I remembered in 2022 when youtubers said 2023 or 2024 will be the end of deck , remembered deck is pc and he can be used not on game's only
I got a Steam Deck to play games on Steam. Not to play PlayStation 5 games. But still love your Steam deck news
i got one to run steam games, older games, emulators and from time to time windows games with the use of proton.
can a PS5 do all this ?
I got one to play steam games and ps5 games and it’s doing what I need lol
Why doesn't Valve take some of its money and put it into building a native game studio that makes new games optimized for current Steam Decks?
400 dollar for only 3 years of life cycle, this is small . atleast we should have 5 year's of life cycle
Do you understand that the difference between getting and OS to run on one specific set of hardware, like a handheld vs all the random desktop builds out there? I can see where valve / steam are coming from, especially given the demand for each.
They. Announced. It.
@@DeckReady And I'm sure they still will eventually. But while doing that you can realise it for set hardware a much shorter time..
What. point. Are. You. Making?
If they had said "In a year" then I'd get your point, but they didn't. They haven't said they're not doing it, you said that yourself.
unless performance per watt takes a giant leap, i dont see OG SD and SDOLED going anywhere.
I have plenty of unplayed games from the last decade in the library so I am fine for a few years 😀
Will definitely buy the switch 2 for it's more powerful chip, bigger size screen of 8 inch and exclusive games.
Nah the Steam deck 2 is gonna outsold the Switch 2
Figured how to tweak to get 40-55 fps for final fantasy 16 don't really care what you say or think. 🧐 layer Jedi survivor on my deck way before this last patch with a mod. If you know how to tweak all games almost work on deck
