Bought new.
Car was ine of the finest cars I've ever owned.
The folding top was weak.
The mechanism was undermined by the hydraulic cylinders in the roof itself. Leaks caused fluid reservoir to starve pump and top would stall opening-closing and leave top wherever. Safety latches prevented car being driven until roof was UP or Down.
Car was solid. Top down or up. Top down Quiet as any C klasse.
Staggering Uni directional tires were outstanding and smooth riding ( still control arms with shock absorbers)
Garaged kept for 10 yrs.
Parked it one day and went conduct business and came back and it had been smashed by a semi trailer that crushed the front.. 101k miles. Insurance wrote it off.
I cried..took the money and sold it for 1k dollars to a local hot rod shop..
He rebuilt and gave it to his wife !

This engine is M112 and it’s the best V6 petrol engine ever. It is very durable. I had CLK 320 W208, facelift and when I sold the car away, it was little bit over 408 000km drived but still running and also first timing chain. I have had also SLK 200 Kompressor, facelift and year model was 2000, 6 gear manual 🙂
The 3.2L V6 sounds awesome! This is a truly beautiful and well preserved R170, love the black exterior and two tone interior. Someone is really going to appreciate this lovely car. The R170 is one of the best looking Mercedes-Benz roadsters in my opinion. Great review, Leyton!

To me, this will always be an old lady car because of my grandma’s neighbor in her condo had one. She did not have this sporty grill that this one has though.

Very bad interiour shape. The plastik are "repaint" in beige? This car become form a inondation or Tsunami rescue?. Very strange inside look ...But the girl make the diversion ^^
That's an original Mercedes factory interior. IMHO, the best interior colors the R170 ever came with. In addition, the M112 is one of the most bulletproof engines Mercedes made.
